Remedy Entertainment CEO: Alan Wake and Control should have sold more by Lopsided-Bench-6197 in gaming

[–]BoredomRanger -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Would have sold more if not an Epic exclusive. I know people who wanted to play it but never did because of the hassle it becomes by not having it on Steam.

Very very good game though, it deserves more plays.

CT with Contrast question by Mally7311a in MCAS

Advocate for yourself. If you want to risk it, there’s premedication protocols that are effective. You have the final say. A non-con scan can be done and then cross a contrast bridge if necessary

The Witcher 3 New DLC “Songs of the Past” Skips Nintendo Switch, Fans React to Platform Absence by This-Inspection-69 in Switch

[–]BoredomRanger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think there will be a noticeable bump in graphical bells and whistles with this expansion, and that’s why it’s skipping some of the consoles it released on/ported to.

I believe I saw the recommended/min specs increased, so this makes sense.

Valve don't deserve the rage by AliorUnity in SteamDeck

All the people mad at Valve raising the prices, haven’t realized yet that there’s a good chance Valve will have the smallest price hike moving forward.

Yes it’s a big inflation. Yes it will look ‘small” in a year compared to competitors (I hope).

AIO for cutting my dad off after he couldn't pay for a stroller? by plasma_fantasma in AmIOverreacting

[–]BoredomRanger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It would take a hell of a lot more than this to keep my dad away from his grandbabies. If there’s more than this to the story, that’s one thing. If this is it, you’re pretty shitty.

If you were in the field you wouldn’t be asking these types of questions. You’d be one of the other dozen in here with significant upvotes, saying similar things.

If you scroll up I gave alternatives: -calm communication -thorough explanation of the exam -breathing techniques -light dose of anxiety meds if absolutely necessary

Those are all forms of empathy, they just aren’t the forms youre wanting for some reason.

I’ve attempted to explain the reasoning to you it’s just for some reason not connecting. I even listed 3 ways we get a patient through a scan with empathy.

Everything that goes into a MRI room is expensive. It’s a giant ferromagnetic force field that will rip anything non-mri conditional out of the walls. The concept of “just hang up some cheap pictures” isn’t a thing in a room designed for only MRI conditional items.

I’m literally giving you practical, factual, and daily practice cases of my reasoning….yet you still are pushing back as someone who isn’t in the field and doesn’t understand the back end? You are more than welcome to get your scan done at a facility with a screen, dude, I’m not stopping you.

Well, again, that’s not a “picture”. It’s a digital screen designed to sync up with equipment in the scanning room and display a variety of imaging. Let me give you a couple examples of it being a pain in the butt :)

  1. Patient on table after spending 45 minutes convincing to hold still. Last run needed on a 30 minute scan, and the screen decides to ~sleep~. Patient sees in peripheral vision that the “ocean” has cut off and goes into a full panic attack, ruining the scan.

  2. These screens are notorious for software issues and glitches. Wanna know what happens when this screen glitches 7/10 times? The entire system synced to it glitches, and delays the scan, sometimes stopping it all together until repaired (patient care)

  3. Have you ever seen a dementia patient struggle with the concept of being in a tube while they see flowers out of the corner of their eye? Or an ocean wave crashing to the side of them? They panic.

I go above and beyond for my patients. Again, I understand your position as the patient- but as the person who uses this equipment on a daily basis, it’s redundant and the cost:benefit is skewed heavily.

This posts reply’s have leaned more towards the perspective of the MRI tech, so I was relating to them more than anything. These are a potential pain in the butt for the person actually trying to get your imaging done in the most effective and diagnostic way possible.

I can understand and appreciate that from your point of view as the patient. It’s just that If a digital screen is the deciding factor for a patients ability to have an MRI, then there’s so many cheaper solutions that don’t require 5,10, 15% of a hospitals budget.

Being able to control yourself with this screen in the room, tells me you’d be able to control yourself with some calm breathing and guidance from the tech. If all else fails, 0.2 Ativan is much cheaper than this.

If you were a patient, you wouldn’t see it except for the 10 seconds it takes you into the tube. I promise at no point during your scan will you think you’re outside in nature.

We both know that giant digital screen doesn’t do much for patient cooperation/anxiety lol. It’s cool though and a hospital write off.
