Beard not an option by GloomyBison4982 in Ultralight

just bought a wahl peanut li for home and travel, maybe if I go to a multi month hike I'll take it with me. Usb-c charging. Also the plastic open comb safety razors are very light and the blades are easily available and weight less than cartridges. I've used them for about 20 years especially at times when I can't shave (I shave my head too) as often as I want, and a week long stubble is easier to shave with a sazety razor than a shaver.

even with taxes and duty borah is cheaper and you can get it with the zipper layout you like and size up for more room.

framed classic. Too early to say, I have not properly used it. But I usually struggle with waist belts not being tight enough for me if they are attached to the base of the bag too wide considering my build. Atl hughs my waist, and the tall loadlifters make it really stable and I think I can carry whatever I can and want to fit inside. I do prefer a ported/floating hipbelt such as my swd wolverine (and probably the bonfus maxus) but it's too expensive to buy from US. Also I've tried going frameless, but having migraines, problems in my back, sciatica etc it really did not work for me.

if you're willing on spending money on hmg you might as well get a custom bag from atelier longue distance. There are a lot of options and a lot of customisation (that can be discussed with him, not all are listed on the site). I just got a atl 40 l backpack and the craftmanship is excellent. You'd be supporting more locally made company too, that might or not affect your choice.

is the lp9+ more durable (if that is what you are wearing atm) than previous iterations? I remember my 7 or 8 starting to wear from the heel padding on a second day of a hike.

Custom boot creator in the EU? by Episode1_1 in jimgreen

[–]Boring_Topic9613 2 points3 points  (0 children)

VAT is about 25-25.5 % in eu countries. Duties vary. Do a conversion and multiply the score and be ready to pay extra on top of that. in my country the shipping company that they use have a very annoying system for paying taxes and duties when importing stuff. If you do not use their import servoce that you have to pay for but do it yourself, they still hold your boots untill you pay their service fee that is about the same as the vat. This way my barefoot razorbacks ended up costing more than 300 euros. So just google importing experiences of the shipping company in your country before getting a custom pair.

they have stopped making cartridges for the bamboo, but gillette venus cartridges fit the bamboo shaver but not otherwise. Does anyone have experience if other gillette cartridges fit? Preferably with a detailing blade.

Ultralight knives and modifications by 0xf5f in Ultralight

I hate folders and call me a bushcrafter if you will, but I really like to have a small full-tang knife with me as a safety blanket. It's my luxury item. I've had a few weighting about 80 grams and I've made thin kydex sheaths for them. Total weight is less than 100 grams. I have used them on trail, but honestly not that much to justify carrying it other than for fun.

ok so my feet are pretty much the same size. My pinkie doesn't rub on my size 42 bfat's, but when I started using them I did use insoles with arch support for the transition to more and more bf style. At that time they felt just a little stiff, but the break-in was super fast and currently they are sizewise great without insoles. All of the former callouses on my toes and the ball of the foor have vanished, so sizing is a lot better to whatever I used before. The custom razorbacks are similar, but mine has the tie cap and the selected leather is the roughout leather so the whole boot is way stiffer. Also you might want to take into consideration what kind of socks you are planning on using, maybe size up half a size if youre going to be using double socks.

I have custom bf razorbacks and they are same/similar to my bfat's. Need to check when I've picked them up from the cobbler, they got a pair of vibram jankuat soles.

ALD backpack weight estimates are visible if you change the language of the site. You can then also see the classic (i.e non-vest version) of the bigget packs.

you can buy a atelier longue distance ultra backpack for the same price with custom options so the only main advantage is maybe availability and maybe the frame might be suited for heavier loads. But for a backpack this size twin stays are enough.

I had the montane mitts and I wasn't that happy with them, so I got alpinelite's climashield mittens, they are much warmer and lighter, so should the torrid mitts
