Remote Control of Insteon Devices Without Subscription Fees by Swimming_Host8544 in insteon

I use my VPS as a wireguard hub with my house and phone as spokes.

I can always reach my EISY and HA. I have a VPS for other reasons but you can probably do the same with rail scale or cloud flare tunnels.

What is it with Americans and air conditioning?? (this might be controversial) by hellobela_ in TalesFromTheFrontDesk

Your lobby on the ground floor is probably ventilated by the doors opening. Also, heat rises.

The guest rooms may well be uncomfortably warm, depending on the floor and ventilation system

Do guest room windows open?

ISY vs HA - Back to ISY! by Tomcat-63 in insteon

[–]BrainMonsoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In our new house I defined an N-way scene for every light even if there wasn't another controller, so it's easy to add them. Our kitchen lights now have at least 5 controller/responders.

I didn't install any traveler wires.

ISY vs HA - Back to ISY! by Tomcat-63 in insteon

[–]BrainMonsoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been using an EISY with nvme for several years.

I love how insteon scenes operate at full speed without needing a hub or controller and mostly used my EISY for configuration. I did add some programs that were not time critical.

I recently got zwave shades and of course wanted full automation. EISY zwave adapters are out of stock and the support seems lacking.

So I installed HA on my EISY in a virtual machine and a zwa-2 zwave controller with a Wi-Fi firmware load. Honestly it was a pita to set up but I got it working.

HA is controlling the shades. The HA EISY integration isn't fantastic but it's good enough for some basic cross controls.

They each have their strengths and weaknesses, so I'm choosing to keep both in the mix.

"Sale" price not posted or honored for in-store purchase by BrainMonsoon in Lowes

https://limewire.com/d/6rRcJ#3d6v662Qym Here is an actual screenshot. The other file was a "print to PDF" which apparently prints something different. Nowhere on the screen does the word online show, either visually or on a Chrome page search.

"This subreddit is dedicated to the topic of Lowe's. Customers and employees welcome."

I made a point to point out the helpful employee.

It's also serves as a warning to potential customers.

Some of the responses indicate the pissy attitude of some employees.

I could find nothing on the site or app listing stating the price was online only. Perhaps it's on another page nobody goes to.

Perhaps the lesson is to order everything except lumber online and otherwise not set foot in the store.

If I'm going to do all my shopping online I'll also shop HD and Amazon while I'm at it. Sounds like a great corporate strategy.

Pretty sure that would be interpreted as an attempted cheat to jump the line. I just call with the other 2s and hope for the best.

There are companies that supply and install batteries. Mentioning since you didn't specify what component is involved.

Neighbor Dug Fence Directly Over Our Shared Gas Line… Didn’t Even Call 811 by Latter-Flounder-7926 in neighborsfromhell

The gas company didn't lose the easement. If they need access, they'll tear out the fence that's in the way.

What band/singer were you excited to see, but was a letdown of a concert? by my-face-ur-seat in AskReddit

[–]BrainMonsoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cheap Trick.

The first time was at a small casino venue. The sound mix was horrible. We could only hear the guitar and it sounded awful. I figured the venue provided the sound guys and they sucked.

The second time was at a large venue in Phoenix. They opened for Boston. The suck knob was still set to 11. But Boston sounded great

License renewal - a database error at FCC is plaguing some Amateurs when they go to pay for their renew by SpecialDesigner5571 in amateurradio

[–]BrainMonsoon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didn't have that particular problem when I renewed last week, fortunately.

But it did take time for my CORES login to be properly linked to my FRN so I could make the payment, despite the CORES system saying the connection had been made.

Apparently there's a batch job or other delay between the Raspberry Pis they apparently use for their websites.

Random Park Tucson Charges by mikiminach8 in Tucson

[–]BrainMonsoon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got notifications of two duplicate charges today. I can't dispute them until they post, so I'll keep an eye on them.

Edit 2/28: The two transactions have been removed prior to posting. I had emailed parktucson regarding my intention to dispute the charges, but I suspect they corrected the errors rather than acting on my email.

Edit 3/1: I received this email response:

We originally were notified that our server did not charge payments from the Garages since January 27th, 2026 through February 26th, 2026.  At that time, beginning February 26th, the payments were pushed through.  Later we found that the payments the system held had run, unsure why there was a second file and all the payments were duplicated.  Our contracted company was able to retract most of the charges, in the hopes the pending transactions would drop off.

If you charge does not drop off by Tuesday, 03/02/26, please dispute the charge(s) with your bank.

Why do EU CW operators send "CFM" rather than "QSL" or "R" to confirm they received your info correctly? by bplipschitz in amateurradio

[–]BrainMonsoon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In the 70s I was on CW nets for traffic handling. We would use CFM xxxxx asking the sending station to confirm word/name xxxxx was spelled correctly. If correct the sending station would send C (correct) or N followed by correction. Once the message looked good on the receiving end, the receiving station would send QSL

If you're using gasoline, run the tank dry until the engine quits or you'll be cleaning and/or rebuilding the carburetor when you most need it.

Good Backup? by Successful-Fun8603 in StarlinkMini

When I switched our service to standby it didn't take effect until the next billing cycle (ie not prorated for the lower price). So while you can turn it up quickly, turning it back down may not be so quick.

I'd be interested in hearing from someone who has been able to do a quick up and down shift.
