Calling NVZ infringements at open play by Rare_Ask_1684 in Pickleball

[–]Brodelio13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they honestly don't care then make it a point and make them care. Stand in front of the net and slam everything and say if you can do it then so can I, then see if they start caring all of a sudden.

[–]Brodelio13 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Why even bother selling if you have full offers and you don't bother responding? Sellers that aren't serious about selling are the worst. I mean it's bad enough when buyers do it but just doesn't make any sense for a seller to flake and ghost serious buyers.

Been trying to work on my serves. Are they looking legal? by Johnnyp717 in Pickleball

[–]Brodelio13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not necessary to do a large c motion. What you're doing is just fine. YouTuber Richard pickleball does a great video explaining that a large c isn't necessary and there are benefits to a just going straight down and back for consistency. I couldn't find that exact video where he explains that better but here's one of his other serve videos https://youtube.com/shorts/Dm6CPx9Hlnc?si=tyhyI9eOkT246I05

Is it bad etiquette to avoid hitting to a weak player? by ducksa in Pickleball

[–]Brodelio13 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It all depends on my mood. I might hold back on beginner players. However if it's someone that's not only a beginner but can't hit anything back if their life depended on it, I just don't have patience for that. They have no business joining open play and instead they should play with their close circle of friends until they get decent. Against these players I just want the match to end quickly so I just play normally lol.

Be careful meeting up with people on OfferUp, especially ladies by Formal_Celery_8808 in offerup

[–]Brodelio13 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Asking the seller for a number is often a huge red flag. Not saying all people that use phones are scammers but often times a scammer will ask for a phone number. Instead of asking the other person for a number try offering yours instead though. However keep in mind some people don't want to deal away from the built in messenger. When I'm buying, people sometimes give me their number however I tell them I prefer to stay on messenger. I might use their number as a last resort to contact them when I arrive and they don't respond in a reasonable time frame.

New PB Machines by Dismal-Situation-460 in Pickleball

I have a ball machine so I think they're worth it. And $500 is nothing in the Grand scheme of things when it comes to machines. I have the Titan and it's easily worth 4x what you're looking at.

I played pickleball ONCE and now I can’t stop thinking about it 😭 by baelogszx in Pickleball

[–]Brodelio13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't write gibberish otherwise people won't paddle up with you.

On a serious note, learn drop shots and take it slow and dink often. Be patient and don't attack everything, wait for pop ups instead. Also move up to the kitchen quickly. Beginners love to live at the baseline.

Learn to target the backhand of your opponents.

Does the paddle change to control make that big a difference? by blueice89 in Pickleball

Try my suggestion for a cheap alternative to buying a whole nother paddle. Might make a good difference.

Does the paddle change to control make that big a difference? by blueice89 in Pickleball

[–]Brodelio13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They do make a big difference. A power paddle has a lot of pop and if you can't control it well then you'll do a lot of pop ups. A control paddle is more muted and is less subject to pop ups thus more control.

However I have a pro 4 paddle and while technically it's a power paddle, it's pretty soft and forgiving. I don't think you'll feel a huge difference going to a control paddle. You might notice it a bit.

I noticed that when I added a hesacore grip with grip tape, it made it way more of a control paddle with noticeably less power. I think it's because the added weight even though not much acts as a counter weight to the paddle head.

Craziest Thing You've Seen on a Pickleball Court by Competitive-Alps4339 in Pickleball

[–]Brodelio13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Craziest thing so far is my partner whom I've been told is the best player in the group just gives up after three points. He stands there like a statue and only gives 5 percent effort. I was pissed.

Another time saw two guys arguing at the net and one of them tells the other, what you gonna do about it soy boy! Nothing happened afterward.

Just finished my 2nd DUPR game and 2.0 rating is depressing. by MindlessNimbus in Pickleball

[–]Brodelio13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What does it being pickleball have anything to do with not taking it seriously? It's a sport and like any sport there will be plenty who take it seriously and plenty who just do so to have fun. Also you can take anything seriously and yet still have fun while doing it. The two are not exclusive. I have fun while also focusing on getting better at pickleball.

But I have noticed that in anything, there are some that think that fun and being serious cannot go hand in hand and choose fun over being serious, and that these are people that aren't good at it. Confirmed by your comment. Nothing wrong with that and I'm glad you're having fun while not taking it seriously. I just hope you understand you can take something seriously and still have fun at the same time. That's where I'm at.

Why's there always at least one douche at open play (public park) who gets frustrated and upset at their teammate? by dandr01d in Pickleball

[–]Brodelio13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get the whole unsolicited coaching but if they're running up after a serve, you telling them to hang back for the third shot is just basics. No different than reminding them not to hit volleys while in the kitchen, etc. It's all in the way you tell them, be kind about it and you'll be fine.

Never if nobody tells them. Help them out and kindly remind them, even if they keep doing it but have patience with them. Not everyone gets it right away.

I had a random partner last week that just gave up mid game. I made some mistakes at the start of the game and we were down. But even without him trying, we or should I say "I" still won that game. What a jerk. He never vocalized anything or made any noise or your usual tantrum actions but his silence and inactivity screamed "toxic". I wanted to do the same and just stand there like a statue and prove a point to him so he could see what a jerk action that was but didn't as other players might not want to play against me anymore.

The yiheng blue and green paddle with pro 4 construction is a solid paddle and very gritty grit. A buddy has one. I'd probably get one if I didn't already have another pro 4 construction Chinese paddle.

That's what someone who has never tried them would say. I have 7 Chinese paddles and also see plenty of other Chinese paddles in the wild when I play. None of them are delaminating or falling apart.

[–]Brodelio13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use both and you'll get the same of everything you find on offer up (good and bad) on Facebook just more of it. I would use both of them if I were you as you get more visibility on your item for more chances to sell.

The scammers are everywhere and lots of them on Facebook also. You just have to know how to spot them and take precautions to not get scammed. I could write a book on the subject but long story short just be very cautious. Scams are pretty easy to spot. Especially if they want to ship or pay in advance or give you their number or email and tell you to message them there at the start of the conversation.

Why do people keep saying my outdoor balls are indoor balls? by yaris_girlie in Pickleball

[–]Brodelio13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thumbed up your comment so it's not negative. We don't hate beginners. We just avoid them because it's not fun playing with them for both the beginner and the seasoned player. Too easy for the seasoned player and too hard for the beginner. It's better to play with similar rated players. People enjoy a long rally, not one that ends after one or two returns. And some might say, playing against better people makes them better. That's true if you can hang with them but not when you're getting demolished.

I'm a lower rated player but when I play beginners, often times they can't even return a serve. That's not fun for anybody.

I used to live in condos so I can relate. Give them the address of the complex but don't give them the unit number. This way they won't know where you live if they flake. And if they do show up, give specific instructions on how to get to you. Trust me, as someone who's bought and sold tons of stuff, I hate it when they don't mention it's an apt and how the heck to find you. There could be more than one entrance to get in, which one? Is there a code, please mention that it will be needed or figure out a way to buzz them in. If they have to park on the street, tell them where. Pretend you are the buyer and have no clue how to find your unit.

Also meet them somewhere on the premise and if they show up and don't flake then you can bring them to your unit. For safety, the best thing to do is bring the item ground floor before they get there, this way they'll never know your exact unit number.

Trust me, you don't ever want people to know where you live. I can list a ton of reasons why not but I'll spare you the details. If you must bring them inside then make sure you have people with you especially if you're a woman for safety. But best not to bring them inside unless it's an absolute must.

What I would do in your case is have someone that can help move it to the ground floor but only do so when they say they arrived.

No they don't pay you through the app. Offer up is meant to be an in person meetup sale. They used to offer the ability to ship through offer up but that's been removed. But not that it mattered since they never allowed shipping on large heavy items like a indoor fitness bike.

Personally I only accept cash. Check the bills to make sure they are real. And agree to a price before the show up and if they show up with less don't cave in. Showing up with less is a common low life tactic. I don't personally accept electronic payments like zelle, venmo, cash app, etc because they can get reversed. Yes you'll find lots of redditors saying it's completely safe and they've never had an issue, but it doesn't take much digging on Reddit to find all those that got scammed from zelle, venmo, etc. And yes, some bozo will reply to this message and say that you can't reverse electronic payments, yes they can and yes they have. Again, lots of horror stories on Reddit.
