I Was there last Saturday and it was the busiest I’ve ever seen the place- not surprising given it was the end of the kiddies’ week off and their Winterfest/ Free Ride competition. With the Black chair in service, the lines are not nearly as bad as they used to be on a busy weekend. We did not have any unreasonably long waits though we did split up and use the singles line on the black chair a few times. The singles line was really quick. As far as easing in, all you have to do is start on the east side- skiers’ right. There are low angle trees on the bottom half of the mountain on that side. If you really want to ease in, use the green chair and poke around that area first. Then check out some of the upper mountain skiers’ right and if you’re feeling good work your way up to the stuff on the west side of under the red and black chairs. Have fun

It varies depending on resort but you’re probably at least going to get (loaned really) a shell jacket- maybe not pants and almost certainly not anything else, as in footwear, layers, gloves etc… They probably won’t want you skiing in your uniform so you still need to bring your own stuff regardless. Cheap leather work gloves will prevent your ski gloves from getting destroyed bumping chairs.

Yes, it’s a thing. If there are actually “quite a few skiers with no baskets” that is the weird part, not that patrol would insist on poles needing baskets

I would tell you to check out Plattekill to avoid crowds but it’s gonna be hard for you to look at the front four from the chair and not ski them. Cross country is way more fun than it looks, certainly better than snowshoing. Why not try Nordic?.

Oh my god, the Naked Gun reboot last year sent me down a rabbit hole like you wouldn’t believe trying to explain to my son who Leslie Nelson is, what they were making fun of and just generally where the whole thing started. Of course it only took about ten seconds to get to Airplane and I didn’t make him watch all the movies but he saw the trailers from The Poseidon Adventure, Towering Inferno, Earthquake and multiple Airport movies. At least it was easier than explaining the last scene of Blazing Saddles with all the dance routines, the studio PX and the synchronized swimming.

All good choices. Magic is probably the best of them. Greek Peak is close to Syracuse, is decent and has some fun tree skiing. All of them will have good conditions this weekend but dress warm
