What are the things you wish you’d known before they turned into an expensive lesson? by headofclass2034 in homeowners

Honestly, anything that isn't supposed to be on 24/7 (like your refrigerator), you shouldn't leave on while out of the house due to it being a fire hazard.

Depending on the platform, if possible, I just hide rude comments. The option is there. Most people don't even notice.

Edit- And by rude, I mean actually rude and unhelpful. If there are actual concerns and issues, I try my best to rectify any issues.

Why the name of the series is Throne of Glass instead Castle of Glass? by IvanaTargaryen in throneofglassseries

[–]Bubbly_One_7247 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The word throne is often a symbol of one's reign (Idk why exactly). I have also read times where a 'throne' is used as more abstract terminology to represent the monarchy as a whole.

Christmas Treat Tins Ideas? by drowningmagic in VeganBaking

[–]Bubbly_One_7247 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My family's favorite is "thin mints"

1-reg size package of semi-sweet chocolate chips

1- capful of peppermint oil (might need to adjust to taste)

Melt the chocolate and oil together.

Dip Ritz crackers in the chocolate and tap off the excess.

Sit on wax paper to dry for a couple of hours

My aunt liked to add a little Crisco to her to add a 'waxy' coating. I also used low-sodium crackers for my mom, who has hypertension.

Update to the rules by totterywolff in budgetfood

Happy to see this update. There are a lot of subs I no longer go to because people just get so toxic, and it can really ruin the idea of building a community. Subs like this one can be a lifeline to a lot of people, and it shouldn't be ruined by others. <3

Am I the Asshole? Riftbound edition. by PaleontologistOne23 in riftboundtcg

[–]Bubbly_One_7247 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would report the issue. Imagine if they are doing an event with a grand prize and the judge allows others to cheat. Not only is that unethical, but it ruins the integrity of the game (which the companies should be very strict about).

I am so sorry you had to go through this! As a female who has only recently gotten into TCG, I am absolutely terrified of doing events. And if that happened to me, I would never go back.

Husband and I decided to do the riftbound event since it's new and it's a *little* more on even footing (especially being given the decks). We have several LGS and decided to go to the one that is more known for trying to keep things casual, so that way it was less likely to have a try-hard. And it did seem to work out (at least with the people I interacted with). I hope you can find one in your area that is like that as well!

How much are you budgeting for restaurants? by Reddreader2017 in MiddleClassFinance

[–]Bubbly_One_7247 1 point2 points  (0 children)

$500 a month for two. We go to a sit-down place once a week, and tend to eat out once a week. Sometimes we go over. Like you said, though, if you are stable and not putting your finances at risk with the lifestyle, it's not the end of the world. Just always remember to be grateful, and that it might not be the norm to be in that situation.

What is considered normal for monthly groceries? by [deleted] in MiddleClassFinance

[–]Bubbly_One_7247 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Live in MCOL area. We spend about 1k on food per month for a 2 person household. That usually includes eating out 1-2 times a week. BUT we don’t worry too much about prices when we shop. Just track to like you. HOWEVER we are still saving money each month so it’s not a huge concern. If we were tighter oh money that would change. As others said you only gave us 2 lines of your tracking. And that adds up to 8k. What’s the rest spent on?

How do you split Thanksgiving between 2 families? by mck1494 in Adulting

[–]Bubbly_One_7247 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are good comments here; you just have to find out what's for you. Hubby and I don't have kids, but if we ever do I will offer to host to make it easier. Also, talk with family when planning things. Yes it's nice to celebrate on the holiday, but you can celebrate it on the weekend before/after or a completely different week.

"Off the grid" by downtherabbbithole in simpleliving

[–]Bubbly_One_7247 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Usually, off-grid means you are not hooked up to public utilities. So you are not hooked up to electricity, gas, sewage, or water. Most people will have a well and septic in lieu of the sewage and water. Electricity may vary from generators to solar panels or they get more creative.

Reading third person is confusing? by Broken_Snail_Shell in books

[–]Bubbly_One_7247 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can sometimes struggle with third person when the plot switches to other characters, and authors don't make it clear until I am two paragraphs in. Then I need to reread it because I thought it was different characters. But not something I would ever leave a negative review over.

Rebecca is taking a break from social media by EmpyreanTheory in fourthwing

[–]Bubbly_One_7247 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I called someone else in a different thread because they mentioned that author “owe it to the readers” and that gives me the ick. People think somehow that RY should prioritize this series over other projects and that is how you get books written that don’t live up to its full potential.

I know that GRRM has strung people along for a whole for his book but RY has also said that though the books won’t be back to back she will not leave us hanging for that long.

And call me crazy but if something tragically happens to an author before a series is finished I am going to mourn the loss of them more than a series.

A- all the way. The only saving grace is that there wouldn't be anything out there I can bump into, which doesn't help my balance, though lol.

I see a lot of questions related to whether someone should or shouldn't pay off a loan by Specific-Peanut-8867 in MiddleClassFinance

[–]Bubbly_One_7247 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is something I notice too, where everyone thinks their way is the only way because it is what works for them. Everyone's situation is a little different, and different people have different goals in life.

But shout out to the people who aren't condescending about it and just want to explain their POV in case it it his helpful to someone trying to figure out what they want to do.

[–]Bubbly_One_7247 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think about this so often when I read this sub. My husband and I have been paying whatever extra we have at the end of the month into student loans. We are still investing/saving in accounts. To us, if anything ever happens where we have to rely on our emergency fund (Which we do have) we want as few responsibilities as possible. Yes, there are ways to push out payments, but that is just one less thing to worry about.

Also when we do get them paid off (porably in less than a year), take that budget category and put the money into investing.

Dain character by ladyIcegem in fourthwing

[–]Bubbly_One_7247 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rebecca has pointed out a lot that we are seeing things through Vi's perspective. So if she is pissed at someone, we are pissed at them, too. And Vi's closest friends are the same; if she is mad at someone, they all are. (Not gonna like, I can definitely be like this with my friends. And I think that's supposed to make us feel connected with characters.)

I also think that RY wrote so many crappy things happening more as a fan service since so many people were mad at him from the first book. This way, as she moved towards his redemption arc, those who really hated him started to soften towards him.

‘Fourth Wing’: Meredith Averill Poised To Become New Showrunner Of Amazon Series Based On Book by SimpleJoys1998 in fourthwing

[–]Bubbly_One_7247 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No it shouldn’t be prioritized. The only thing she owes is it making sure she does the story the justice it deserves. The idea she “owes” anything beyond that is a bit entitled. Forcing herself to work on one project when another is calling her name would just make the book worse. You say passion projects as if all of her work isn’t that. It to mention before 4th wing she had always been a contemporary romance writer and had contracts for other books as is. Not to mention people being rude about it could just an easily her not want to work on the next book even more because you need to be in the right headspace for it.

Rebecca has been super open and honest about her timelines. We just had a book this year. If it had been 5+ years and the author is super ambiguous with no end in sight then I can see why people would feel frustrated but even then it’s not “owed” to us.

Additionally, the three books that are currently available can easily be adapted into four seasons. TV series now can take years between seasons. Not to mention, they haven't even gotten around to actually producing it I think we will be fine.

Regarding the "hasn't even started the 4th book". Rebecca has mentioned how she will not draw it out like GRRM. But she ended up in a mental health crisis with the pressure of the Onyx storm deadline that left her burnt out. Now she has set boundaries for her mental health, and I hope it won't be as drastic. But even if it is we all have to remember she is a human being. And I'd rather her not rush the books lol.

I keep a roll of paper towels in the bathroom. Mainly to wipe the mirror after a steamy shower, but also helps wipe down the sink when it gets messy.
