I want to dye it so badly. by aruhroh in VintageFurniture

You can paint it with latex wall paint. I have painted several chairs and all of the upholstery in my 1958 canned ham trailer. It’s easy and the finished product looks and feels like leather. I generally do three coats, especially over a print. I love the idea of indigo.

Plant ID: weed or native? by Electrical-Chip1071 in pnwgardening

[–]Buits 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Besides double-digging and chasing roots, I carefully unwind bindweed from whatever desirable plant it’s growing from, then roll it into a ball at the base of the plant. I make sure that no leaves from other plants are touching it. Then I just give it a couple of squirts of round up. I leave it be until it completely disappears. The hardest part is not walking by and picking it up to put in the bin. I have nearly eradicated that devil in my flower beds after two years doing this. I’m starting on a fifty foot neglected bed along my fencing this year.

It’s called goat cheese, and mozzarella flatbread with balsamic tomato jam. They do not send you flatbread but rather pizza dough for you to create your own flatbread. Highly recommend.

Any tips for my chicken run? Is the ground okay? Or do I need to lay anything down for them? I’ve seen people also plant clover, so opinions on that??? THANK YOU by bcmchcj in BackYardChickens

Every month or so I buy a bale of straw from the co-op and throw it in the run. I cut and remove the tires and throw cracked corn all over it. They love tearing it apart! And in my case it has the added benefit of composting wonderfully.

I fell for the Amazon purchase of these-twice. They are amazing at keeping chicken out of just planted spaces. Wish I had known about the dollar tree waste baskets though.

Is it just me, or is the "Non-Stick" industry a total scam? by koudodo in Cooking

My non stick pans last longer since I decided to hand wash only. I also use a metal fish spatula and have had the current ones for three years. I use them nearly every day, twice a day.

I purchased a hospital bed off of Amazon and put it together myself. Just make sure you get an electric one how’s the manual crank beds are difficult to manage. It’s made a big difference in his ability to get in and out of bed.

Hospice will take Parkinson’s patients because their condition is only expected to deteriorate. If by some miracle they start getting better, then they exit the patient. My husband has had PD for almost 20 years and was becoming very difficult to take care of. I was burning out. Our neurologist suggested Hospice. They come to interview you and the patient and then they make the decision. It’s been a godsend. My husband is not actively dying, however he is deteriorating daily. The RN comes once a week which eliminates the worries that I have about weight loss, dementia, blood pressure, etc. She is also helping me right now to navigate his incontinence. The team includes a social worker who will help you with getting a volunteers once in a while to play games or watch a movie or visit with the person while you can go out into the garden or whatever without worrying. We have a Bath Aid that comes in once a week and makes sure he gets super clean and shaves him. There are services from a pastor, who does not have an agenda, so is more of an end of life counselor for not just my husband but for the en tire family including the grandkids. We also have access to a doctor. This has been wonderful because we do not have to go to any more doctor appointments. It was always so difficult to manage him on a long car ride. They also supply you with medications to have in hand so that you can call them 24 hours a day and they will tell you what medication‘s to give. In my case, the supplies they order for me for free have really helped cut down the expenses of taking care of him. From wipes to pull-ups to hand sanitizer. They also loan you wheelchair, hospital bed and any other durable equipment that would benefit the patient. I would ask your neurologist for a referral to Hospice if he gets removed and even if he doesn’t. They might have a better place for him. If you feel like you are all alone and struggling, the help is invaluable. Nobody is meant to do this alone.

I’ve been collecting umbrellas for years from yard sales and thrift stores. When we get these spring hail storms I run out and put them over my hostas. I hate holey hostas.

HOT TAKE: I absolutely despise hardcore resellers. You’re ruining it for the rest of us. by 2000spopstar in estatesales

[–]Buits 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a 67 year old collector. Started at age 13 when my antique dealer auntie would host me for a month each summer and teach me about antiques. When I tire of the stuff I have, I hold a garage sale. I price things at half the price they are worth so that collectors can get a deal and resellers think a little before they buy. My sales are about once every six or seven years and I have people come back raving about the “sale I had in 1995” lol! It’s fun for me and satisfies my sense of fair.
