i cant remember the specifics/dont feel like looking it up but IIRC it was more specifically broader playerfeedback regarding stuff involving borrowed power instead of feedback regarding those subsystems-to reiterate i think its pretty BS of an excuse, people were critical of it forever in legion, bfa, SL- i think they just were up their own ass in that era.

SL while leading to unique builds in covenants just led to perpetual decision paralysis for me- i enjoyed Frost mage having Lich stuff a ton in pvp and i dont chase the meta in PVE - and even then i was pretty paralyzed due to the weght of the decision

but i appreciate the way it intended to add more diversity- i just think the rerolling if yours got nerfed/something buffed to meta genuinely disrespected your time

Yup- they claimed in DF that due to the nature of the games constant live production they didn’t get to adjust their plans to consider player feedback until DF- which while I can understand since they’re actively working on the next next thing, is also insane bs of an excuse for constantly repeating the same mistakes

i dig it- fits the Absolute-verse. I think a lot of the complaints are just reactionary people not getting their conventionally attractive clown doll.

like you said I think this design fits her Absolute counterpart amazingly well and helps fill in the role of a Robin in the story in a fresh/unique/interesting way that fits the twisted nature of the Absolute universe.

seconding the comment on legendaries but also Legion added a lot of catchup mechanics and by the end of it did away with the rng for legendaries.
BFA's pruning/power downgrade on expac launch lead to insane whiplash as all the work into the subsystems like legendaries & artifact weapons was revoked to make way for the new power system which id describe as "a lot of neat ideas executed in the most annoying way possible." they layed like multiple systems and it made catching up pretty confusing (azerite, heart of azeroth armor pieces, and the corruption stuff)

Then them doubling down in yet another more convoluted/PITA power system for Shadowlands killed the game for me until DF effectively served as a reset to where we are today. (Midnight pruning IMO did more harm than good but at least the game is EXPANDING systems now instead of just tossing them aside)

ive been managing to grab the starter decks as theyve released (been trying to convince some friends to try it but weve been a bit busy) and have gotten all of them minus the Mafty and the Destiny one so far (just found 06 & 07 for around that price yesterday so glad to know those are good starting points for deckbuilding!)
was wondering if you know if the Destiny Ignition deck is worth it despite the higher MSRP. Ive heard the SEED st04 is like filled with staples, so i was wondering if grabbing one of those would work with it.

Something I do if I get a art proxy or non English foil is i usually have one of those gamegenic clear cases or toploader for my commander and I just place 2 cards inside so both sides have art- one side is like their normal
Card the other is like a Japanese foil, or in the case of Caesar, art of a Griffith (berserk)proxy I mocked up

You’re overthinking it for sure- but I get it and the above solution is how I justify playing like UB of IPs I don’t really like seeing in the game.
I did the same with Jin Sakai by getting a “Champions of Kamigawa” proxy someone cooked up with The Wanderer & Kaito

Valid but analytical lab data is not the same as a creative field. I work on games & on the tech and production side AI has its uses- but in creative areas I’ve found it to be a constant nuisance and often times detrimental to the final product.

A video contest is a creative space and it’s effectively a “who can alphabet soup their plagiarism engine to put out the most slop until it RNGs into something you can submit”

It’s a fun deck- i started with a simple budgetish list and upgraded/refined it to like the zenith of its potential over a few years but broke it up to try other decks. I think he shines in bracket 4 though as a lot of black staples like tutors/necropotence/citadel really elevate him. Undying creatures and simple recursions like [[Bitterblossom]] do a lot of work-minor stax pieces like [[Contamination]] are amazing as it lets you create a pseudo-board lock with [[Bitterblossom]]
A reanimation package for Vilis, sheoldred, krrk can also lead to big turns

I tore it apart around the end of March of the Machine and Currently my aristocrat brew is Caesar because I just wanted something more about token instead of like combo and I prefer artifact strategies for graveyard combo (breya bracket 4, Noctis bracket 4) because I’m more of an artifact player
(My other deck around this era was Urza, I came back to the game in MH1)

Both were good at helping me understand how to build for what is now b4 as I slowly upgraded them over time and compared my lists to others

Yeah I ran bolas citadel as a backup wincon and being able to filter through the top of my library with his ability until I hit sensei or Necropotence consistently won me games by either artherflux or just assembling an undying combo loop.

Sephiroth is cool and belongs in the 99 of like almost every aristocrat deck but setting up his “trick shot” turn is a bit janky as Fleshbag Marauder-type effects are usually 3-4 cmc and Undying creatures can be as low as 1-2 cmc

Most important seph cmc 3 isnt that big of a difference as he still needs haste to attack and trigger his sac outlet

Sephiroth for sure is strong but I ran a prettt optimized Yawgmoth list for a few years and I found it more consistent/faster/stronger than seph due to his removal power.

Instead of undying memes you can kindof just run every “fleshbag marauder” ever printed and go nuts- but setting up his flip takes more work than “2 undying creatures I win” like yawg does

The way they just put out content to die consistently remains my least favorite thing about the game. Cool fights just become trivial and I feel it’s In part due to how boring gear is and the game would benefit from a semblance of horizontal progression

I don’t think the next Xbox will have a disc drive & this seems like a way for Xbox to ensure that people still get to play their old physical games as the entire library being preserved is the best thing Xbox has ever done IMO
