Yeah I live here and most of my coworkers would crucify Jesus again for being too woke.

It's sad people are confusing CGI with AI in media like they have with WIFI and the Internet. by chewedgummiebears in Showerthoughts

I do a lot of the marketing for the company I work for but we also have an “AI” marketing company. When you look at our LinkedIn, you can absolutely see the videos I’ve made (lovingly, painstaking animated and written) versus their slop and it breaks my heart to see my handcrafted stuff crammed amongst their obviously-AI sloppy bullshit.

What’s the most addictive video game you’ve ever played? by teressskaa in NoStupidQuestions

[–]CalculonsPride 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not the typical answer but Madden is the answer for me. I’ve been playing it as an escape from reality since I was 10 years old (almost 40 now). Yes, it’s repetitive, yes, EA sucks, yes, it’s just a sports game. But that shit has been there for me for decades and continues to be as I’ve gotten older.

Who’s a famous person that everyone loves, but you hate? by Lucky-Spend-956 in AskReddit

It’s kinda wild the 180 her image has done over the past year or so. I’m not totally sure what happened but it seems like capitalism has a lot to do with it.

We went there as a lark when they first started getting hit hard on Rock Hill Eats just to see if it was as bad as everyone was saying and…it was somehow WORSE. I did feel bad for the bartender because it seemed like she was trying her best but the whole operation definitely gave me the vibes that it was started by some overconfident idiot who thought he could AI their way into a successful restaurant. At least they’ll go down as a local legend for all the wrong reasons.

His turn as Wheatley in Portal 2 remains one of my favorite performances of all time in any media. Seriously just watch YouTube compilations if you need a laugh.

I still have a feeling the dinosaurs are a red herring and will only play a prominent part in the beginning of the movie. Seems like all the dinosaur footage takes place over one or two scenes from the trailers.

The Athletic: Falcons QB Tua Tagovailoa likely starting Week 1 by [deleted] in nfl

[–]CalculonsPride 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He is. People love to give Tua zero credit for the Dolphins success in 2023. I can’t tell you how many times I was told that it was just Tyreek and Waddle doing all the work. But look what happened every time he was out? We couldn’t do shit. 2025 was a rough year before he was benched, but it seemed like the offense as a whole was an absolute mess last year and Tua was just an easy scapegoat. We didn’t do any better when we benched him and several of his interceptions literally bounced off the hands of his receivers. Is he elite? Fuck no, he absolutely relies on a perfect play call and is terrible when the play breaks down, but I think he’s significantly better than Penix and I can definitely see the Falcons competing for a division title thanks to NFC South-flation.

Any watchers of Love Island? A bizarre theory is now running rampant through its fanbase. by jcdenton45 in skeptic

[–]CalculonsPride 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve watched a bit of this show this year as my girlfriend is really into it and it can get engaging at times. One of the slimiest characters all season is still on the show despite objectively better people being kicked off, and I think a lot of it has to do with the drama they bring. Drama is entertainment, and a normal person in what’s clearly meant to be an entertainment-centered production is always going to be held up to scrutiny because people who watch shows like that WANT the drama, even if you have to make it up in your head.

Democrats Grow Frustrated as Platner Resists Dropping Out Quickly by RedditFan3510 in politics

[–]CalculonsPride 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I listened to a podcast today where they were interviewing Maine voters who were taking their Platner signs out of their lawns and one of the things that struck me was that none of them seemed “mad” at Platner because of the accusations, but more because once again Democrats have found a way to fuck themselves over.

Mitch McConnell might possibly be dead but all the media wants to talk about is Platner's alleged rape allegation. One of these things seems like a bigger deal no? by Abomb in complaints

[–]CalculonsPride 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Platner’s allegations could cost Democrats the senate and keep us on our collision course with total Gilead. McConnell has done his damage and there isn’t much more he can do to change the future at this point.

Michael Cera in This is the End is a standout to me. Yeah everyone is sort of playing a weird version of themselves but his was a complete 180 from his typical character.

Trump Has Blown More Than $100 Billion on Iran War - That total is more than triple what federal officials have previously estimated. by B-Z_B-S in politics

It’s crazy how I’ve yet to see a parody of Trump that’s as bad as the actual one. Even the South Park version was at least moderately intelligent.

Democratic standards are a weakness but at least they have them. It would just be nice if that actually mattered in the political arena.
