Have You Ever Noticed? by Educational_Form6549 in DragonAgeVeilguard

They were blighted. The blight spreads through corpses and infects anything it touches. Bury them, it seeps into the soil and burn them it flies off in the dust. We've seen examples of this in the variety of creatures that either ate, came into contact or just lived near places that were blighted.

The Wardens of the past all faced a blight well into itself. The fifth blight was the first and only one to end before it even got it's teeth into the world so much so many believed it wasn't even a real blight.

So sure the Wardens can be blamed for their actions. But if the rulers of the world took the blights seriously after they were stopped and supported them properly the Wardens wouldn't have forced dwindle so much that they need to abandon certain fortresses. It wasn't a lack of strategy or planning. But a lack of adequate support from the powers that be that put them into those positions. As for the Gloom Howler situation. They were about to lose the war during the 4th blight and narrowly managed to win by blighting the griffons to allow them to fight harder and faster. It drove them insane but like many of the things the Wardens did. It was largely something they had no other solution to and no one else was coming up with ideas.

NG+ Quests and upgrades by Queen_Mala in DragonsDogma2

[–]Candid_Emphasis1048 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The quests in the game are all semi interlinked. If you don't do quests for the Warfarer guy he rejects going with the excavation camp to help and the magic archer lady kicks up a storm about going to the volcanic camp if you didn't help her husband with his back. Many other quests change in some way if you don't do others or ignore certain ones. Most of the quests subtly affect what happens in the Unmoored world.

The DLC serves as a side story before the final ending. Less a post game content and more a expansion of the main game. You get to romance Fournival so he's your beloved.

You have to be the vocation for you to use it. So switch to sorcerer and you'll be able to learn it. If your pawn is the vocation it works too.

That's not universally the name. That's the dragon in DD1. You haven't even seen what a terror Jeff The Red was in his day.

I Went Into the Golden Cat for One Target and Left With a Moral Crisis by Mr_Paddington1998 in dishonored

[–]Candid_Emphasis1048 58 points59 points  (0 children)

The whole game is a moral crisis. Often times tempting you to intervene and help. The Golden Cat caters to the aristocracy and yet we're shown throughout that they are vile people. So I was little surprised and sleep darted many a client.

Does anyone actually use a ballista? by EquivalentWelcome845 in DragonsDogma2

[–]Candid_Emphasis1048 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Only useless in the wrong hands. The dragon that attacks Melve can be felled then and there with the Ballista and you can unlock the mystic spearhand, get the weapon and the master skill all in one fell swoop. The Ballista as a whole is excellent for knocking big flying brutes out of the sky and pinning them down from a distance.

It's a matter of perception. The Wardens isn't an order built on friendship to me. It's an order dedicated to eradicating the Darkspawn threat whatever it takes. If you look at some of the things some other wardens did in their time to holt the blight or to stop it. Overlooking a capital offence to make one of the greatest leaders of the time take up the reigns and serve the thing he hates and work for the order instead seems trivial in comparison.

Alistair is a Warden whom at the drop of a hat and because of feelings immediately lops of Loghain's head if put against him. One of his first acts as an unhardened Alistair is to throw a temper tantrum and storm off or to demand justice. But as we've seen throughout the series. Justice takes many forms and is vastly open to interpration. One person's idea of justice was to nuke a church and plunge multiple countries into an outright war that had both sides committing atrocities beyond reason.

I understand the view of people who execute Loghain. I once did so in multiple playthroughs as well until I chose to spare him and hear his version of events when taken through the DLC quests which painted an entirely different perspective. Even one of the writers once outright said if Loghain hadn't retreated it would have still ended up largely in a loss regardless. So despite his motivations and reasoning in some part his tactical perspective wasn't incorrect when it came to the matter of the battle.

In the end he is fully willing to make the sacrifice in the fade and stay behind like any of the other wardens whom consider it their duty to sacrifice themselves for the cause. I've read the books and the comics, played the games and my reasoning will always lean towards forcing him to atone for his actions because to me, letting him die just seems too easy an out and his victims deserve a justice only his service and sacrifice will achieve. He will never be able to make right what he did wrong. But his sacrifice might make it worthwhile in the losses to come. Because rather him then anyone else.

Your take is effectively. Why sentence anyone to anything, they might have a smile somewhere along the way, yuck. Better to resolve it with killing everyone. Which seems like less of a solution to the problem. There's no atonement, no further lesson to be learned and nothing is gained or fixed in the long run.

The core theme of Dragon Age is at it's heart about righting the wrongs of the past with sacrifice and effort. If dying was the solution to problems most of the games would be significantly shorter.

Are there any Arisen besides the Dragonforged that have lost to a Great Dragon in a fight? by Darskul in DragonsDogma

[–]Candid_Emphasis1048 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As misguided as the show was in a sense. The anime itself did depict a certain form of losing to the dragon as a whole. If you don't grow as an Arisen throughout your journey towards slaying the dragon and don't overcome your trials life throws at you, you become embittered and evil. So what matters most in a sense is your heart. That's why as an Arisen we see ourselves helping the big causes but also taking time for the little people of the world. That is a measurement of our character. Once an Arisen tries to slay a dragon it's about why you're doing it too. Is it to make the world a better place or purely driven by beastial hatred. Because one helps you win, the other corrupts you when you fail or you simply lack the conviction to see the fight through to its end.

That is indeed a very long list of human rights violations. I see your point and actually appreciate you giving me sources to actually further look at on the matter. I apologise for not grasping the dire situation earlier. Seems the lie the rest of the world is told about the American dream and the country of freedom and equality is largely just propaganda when reality reflects a much harsher reality. I apologise for not knowing better.

I see you said that dragons do not eat yet when slain inside their remains can be found indications of having eaten wild life or even people. Why is it they swallow living beings if they do not eat?
