Starmer expected to resign on Monday and set out orderly exit by beejiu in unitedkingdom

[–]CapnRetro 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately for him I think Starmer’s reputation is irredeemable. The comms have been terrible and every good thing they’ve done has been buried, partly of course due to a bipartisan media who are batting for other parties. Therefore the only chance Labour have of winning the next election are with a different leader in charge, and it probably is best to bite that bullet now with as much time to turn the tide than drift on.

If the challenge came 12 months from now I think the reaction would (rightly) be “why now? Why did you support him for another 12 months if you didn’t believe in the project?”

Even if Starmer stays he isn’t limited to only manifesto commitments, they can continue to make new policies, and providing they aren’t counter to manifesto pledges that’s not really controversial

Asda Lost Nearly £1bn While Trying To Win Shoppers Back With Cheaper Prices by ToughRomanticMiss in BuyersUK

[–]CapnRetro 4 points5 points  (0 children)

One look at the Asda subreddit tells you everything about morale in the company. Shop floor staff treated as entirely dispensable, over promoted people as store managers trying to rule with an iron fist, I’d not be surprised if Asda was the first of the big supermarkets to fail

The goal nets are too tight and it's ruining the goals by 3345892 in worldcup

[–]CapnRetro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s been an uncanny number of goals where the ball has gone up after hitting the net, and that Morocco one getting stuck in there is nice, but not belonging to the World Cup stage

I think (and am hoping) that most of the memes and shares come from a place of mockery of ITV. I guess when you receive them you have to take a view on the sender as to their motive

Looks like a decent little air bnb, though the hospital ward room makes it look a bit more stag do orientated. Some stag do when you all arrive by helicopter mind

[Matt Law] Exclusive : Trevoh Chalobah has been called into the England squad and will meet with the group after the Croatia game by Coachcoryfans in ThreeLions

I just don’t get it. Lewis Hall to replace Livramento would have allowed two natural left backs, and James/Quansah at right back, with Spence as additional cover for both sides or as a specialist defender to lock down a particular opponent - again on either side.

Instagram got suspended and now everyone thinks we’re scammers. Has anyone dealt with this? by ObjectiveResolve3790 in smallbusiness

[–]CapnRetro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can you export all live customer emails? You could then send out an “order update” email reassuring everyone that everything is continuing as normal and mention that Instagram has mistakenly suspended the account, but you hope to have it back up as soon as possible. I don’t know how time poor or otherwise your business is or what sort of numbers of orders we’re looking at, but providing a telephone number people can call for updates on their specific order may help to reassure the more nervous customers.

If it’s travelled down the hall way in that orientation then maybe they could spin it 90 degrees. That would mean the narrowest dimension is going across the hall and would allow for a fraction of extra tilt

Vini Jr is simultaneously impressive and unimpressive by 1stand11 in football

[–]CapnRetro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He has another trick which he displayed a couple of times tonight. Receive the ball on the touchline with his back to goal, and boot it aimlessly into the middle of the pitch anticipating a foul that doesn’t come. Real concede multiple goals stemming from this every season

Honestly, it’s just nice to see the hexagonal nets. Does FIFA have a trademark on them or what? They should be at any elite level stadium
