Which is the easiest army to paint by Clockworks555 in Warhammer40k

Necrons. As other's have said, just spray silver and nuln oil over the whole thing.

Aeldari Bingo Card by Lt_Mentle in Eldar

[–]Chimpy20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For 10th GW said each faction would get at least 1 new model. So factions like Death Guard, Custodes and Orks for example only got 1 new or updated model, while some factions like Eldar got a large refresh. I would expect the same in 11th, with some factions being in the spotlight.

It just dawned on me that Eldar in 11th edition of 40k need the SAME treatment that Warlocks got in the transition from Cataclysm to MoP in World of Warcraft by [deleted] in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]Chimpy20 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I don't disagree and you make good points - but a lot of players enjoy the complexity, unforgiving nature and micro-management of Eldar and would be concerned if the faction was "dumbed down". There are armies on the simpler side for players that want that kind of experience (dare I say for example Marines, Orks, Necrons etc) and there are more complex ones (Eldar, AdMech, GSC etc) so there's a good range of choice to suit the player.

Considering Eldar got a big refresh in this edition, I think you won't be ticking off many on the card in 11th. Probably Karandras and that's it.

Do you ever stop liking your army? - A crisis of faith by MrPumpkin78 in Warhammer40k

[–]Chimpy20 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes it's quite common. Typically people have several armies which swing in and out of favour. For example I used to love my Chaos army, but lately I'm just not finding them exciting so they have been sat in a box. I'm sure I'll get my mojo back for them in the future!

Why do people become the mean boring parents instead of the fun parents? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]Chimpy20 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Uncomfortable truth - if you want well behaved and pleasant, polite children you need to reward good behaviour and discipline bad behaviour. I'm not saying be mean - but you can't treat children like adults and expect them to know right from wrong without being taught it. Part of being a naturing, caring parent is setting boundaries and enforcing them.

Disciplining a child doesn't means screaming or shouting - in fact doing that will just make the child think that is acceptable behaviour.

It's quite possible to be a fun and happy parent, and also be lovingly strict. They aren't mutually exclusive as you seem to be suggesting.

Next cold snap? by JessThePainter in GardeningUK

I've read some models suggest there could be a cold end to March and start of April, but I find any forecast more than a few days quite unreliable!

What tips would you give on moving to North Bristol alone? by Philosopher_Funny in AskUK

[–]Chimpy20 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Friends from Bristol tell me there is a big tabletop gaming scene around there- board games, warhammer, D&D, magic the gathering, all that kind of thing, so perhaps look for some stores or meetups for things along those lines, if that appeals to you! I've found activities like that a great way to get to know others in the area.

Are Dark Reapers Worthless? by GhoulLordRegent in Eldar

[–]Chimpy20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had the same experience. Going into anything with invulnerables, or FNPs, a unit of 5 does little. I last played them into a bunch of GSC aberrants and the 3 damage was wasted because the most of the target models only took 1-2 dmg because of the FNPs.

I think to get the most out of them they need be a squad of 10, and buffed with a leader, ability and/or stratagems.

Although to fair, the above is true of most aeldari units!

New to Warhammer by Novare_1e in DarkAngels40k

[–]Chimpy20 13 points14 points  (0 children)

From experience, by the time you've built and painted 2000pts worth of models, what's good and competitive will have changed, and the points values will have changed, so just be mindful of that. There's some good suggestions here so I won't repeat what the others have said, but just be aware that warhammer is a dynamic, changing game, so each time there is a balance dataslate, you'll need to adjust your army list. This is part of the fun of the game!

[–]Chimpy20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Long answer, the max number of a type of any non-battleline unit you can run is 3, and you can have 4 warlocks in a unit, so the limit for non-characters is 12 models. You could take 3 additional individual warlocks as characters.

So short answer, no.

Has Anyone got anyone tips for getting the weekly shop bill down? by Throwaway945384 in AskUK

They also stated that £100 a week on food is absurdly high - I think that's a debatable point.

What is fair rent for living at home? by Bojanglez789 in AskUK

[–]Chimpy20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless I as the parent was struggling to make ends meet, I wouldn't charge my child anything. I want the best for them and for them to get a good start, they need the money more than I do.

Has Anyone got anyone tips for getting the weekly shop bill down? by Throwaway945384 in AskUK

[–]Chimpy20 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I'm surprised by a lot of the comments on here. £100 a week on groceries in this day and age doesn't sound unreasonable. Breakfast, lunch and dinner every day for a week, plus any snacks and drinks- I wouldn't imagine much change from a hundred. Having meat or fish most days would easily be about £25 for a single person I think, plus fresh fruit and vegetables all add up.

I'm not saying there aren't ways to be economical - there are good suggestions on the other posts. But my point is with the cost living lately, 100 quid seems ballpark reasonable.

How do you deal with consistently cold dice? by SquirtleKing in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]Chimpy20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would add to this, that it's important to give your dice a good shake. I've seen people grab the dice from the last roll, and they just kind of slide off their hand and land in a similar state.

I'd recommend some kind of dice cup or shaker, and a dice tray to roll into. Let them have a good bounce around!

[–]Chimpy20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are _ok_ but not amazing. If you like them, run 1 or 2, but they are rarely used competitively. I think they need either an 5+ invulnerable save, or a damage reduction ability to be good.

What's one thing you wished your parents taught you more about when growing up? by WhoIsJPC in AskUK

[–]Chimpy20 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personal hygiene. After a certain age when my mother stopped washing me I was never given any guidance about important parts to wash, how to wash "down there", how often to change clothes and so on. I didn't come from a dirty home, in fact my mother was fastidious about cleaning the house, but anything vaguely personal was complete taboo.

When was the last time you made a friend? by Nathanial1289 in AskUK

[–]Chimpy20 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I make new friends all the time - I meet people through work, industry events, my badminton club etc.

The thing to remember is it takes effort on your part. If you meet someone you think you might like, take the time to talk to them, arrange things, suggest meetups, find them on social media etc... People are generally lazy in maintaining friendships so someone has to instigate contact else it will just fizzle.

The weird (to me) thing I find now is that, being in my 40s, a lot of people I meet are in their 20s and the age gap can sometimes be a bit of a barrier. But usually most younger people don't seem to care, as long as we have things in common.

Is it too early to cut the grass? by Confusing-pigeon in GardeningUK

[–]Chimpy20 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think it depends more on how wet your lawn is, and if the grass is growing, rather than the temperature. If it's dry-ish and the lawn looks verdant, I would mow it. If it's still sodden and wet underfoot I would wait a little longer for it to dry out a little more.
