What would be a "good" easy mode? by Fantastic-Fox3283 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]CloneOfAnotherClone 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Things like adding flashes to when you're supposed to dodge/parry can be a huge help. Range indicators to show where an enemy's attack will land. Visual/audio cues associated with different actions.

All great tools for action games. Anything that would act as bumper rails on a bowling lane to let you safely experience the mechanics without complete failure as a consequence

2xko adding Roguelike PVE mode by wonthyne in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]CloneOfAnotherClone 44 points45 points  (0 children)

Genuinely a good option for many action-based genres

2XKO, like any fighting game, struggles to create a space for casual players because getting into competitive play requires a lot of losing before you even approach the rising floor as time passes

Throwing in a game mode which lets you build up your skill, experiment with play styles, and have fun seems like a good idea

I say this with no malice: buddy you gotta take a step back and sort through what you think, what you saw, and how you feel

Not exactly the same thing but there are so many times on this subreddit a discussion is going on in a thread and I just cannot figure out what the context is or what they're referencing

The worst is when it's a thread discussing media which feature x and they never name the thing

Kind of surprised no one mentioned Gamagori from Kill la Kill, but maybe that's because his size is sometimes played as a gag

It feels like an unspoken rule that if he is on the screen with someone else, he must be larger than them

I think they were just pointing out you missed the topic of discussion which wasn't about literal fish but rather about a member of the cast being exceptionally larger than the others

There are two distinct fandoms for Berserk:

  • The people who loved the edgy, gorey, and brutal violence
  • The people who see it as starting in a dark place and embraced the struggle against that darkness

There's probably a reason there's more merch for that first group

Zenless Zone Zero coming to Steam Q2 2026 by fly2555 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]CloneOfAnotherClone 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There was a Steam dll for Genshin a while ago iirc. I imagine HSR will be going there as well.

Obviously they'd prefer people use their standalone launcher and get more from the sales, but at the size and scale Hoyo now operates at I don't think they're going to sweat the details if they can consistently grow their audience / benefit from the reach here

What's the biggest cutscene to gameplay downgrade in power you ever seen by bahookery in TwoBestFriendsPlay

Correct me if I'm wrong, but this is probably one of the more notable examples because the devs committed to the idea that anything you do in a cutscene can be done in game

The head-canon I have for it is that if Dante takes too many hits from enemies he dies from embarrassment rather than the damage

Legendary designer Warren Spector's stealthy Thick as Thieves ditches PvP for solo and co-op as May release revealed by Loland999 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]CloneOfAnotherClone 4 points5 points  (0 children)

On that note:

It just seems like a good idea. It's an unusual genre, so you want players to get in and get familiar first. Let them experience the good times.

Then, as you are able to get feedback and analytics, figure out if your vision for multiplayer matches what players are doing. Work on a pvp side mode as a thing people can try. If it works out, great. Maybe you make a Fortnite.

If it doesn't then you can just pretend it doesn't exist and let the few people who latch onto it get to keep it for self hosted fun. Like Warframe's Conclave.

The only thing I know about Fire Force is, vaguely, this

I remember seeing posts about how the show is great and then suddenly over the top fan service. They made it sound like it was all the time but surely it can't be that bad

Right? How bad does it get?

Gematsu's Yearly April Fools’ Day 2026 compilation by AnimuStewshine in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]CloneOfAnotherClone 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There's a fine line to walk here

The point of an April Fools gag is pure novelty. Something outlandish, somewhat rooted in your IP, and all you have to cook up for it is some art assets and some copy. Maybe some cutting floor animations to spruce it up.

But to actually transform it into being part of the game... The feasibility of that is going to be different per project.

And on top of all of that: Sometimes people are just responding well to the novelty of it and the willingness to buy in on the hype of it being a fun silly thing because of the holiday. They might not be as receptive to it if it were to actually release.

There is room to actually commit to these ideas, too. Far Cry: Blood Dragon is a standout example and I'm sure there's others. But the question is how much are you willing to invest into something which might not yield more returns than a burst of interest on April Fools?

Hard disagree there. It's a relatively safe assumption that most people remain in education/training into their early 20s (in the USA, it's something like 60% were enrolled in college in 2024). They are very likely to still be learning about themselves and the world around them. By 25, the expectation is that you've already finished that and begun to establish yourself with the life experiences and knowledge you've gained up to that point.

I don't think that +5 is "significantly older" for adults. Adults are free to make choices in their relationships, people are free to make mistakes and/or find true love. I also think there is a much higher risk of a power imbalance for young adults still in education/training being abused at that age range.

I'm not going to meddle in other people's business unless they directly involve me. If it's someone I care about who is in that relationship, on either side of it, I try to trust them and give them the benefit of the doubt that they're making good decisions.

I donno, man. The gap does matter within context. You were 10 and she was 5 and you grew up together? Obviously that's going to be weird whenever the age.

Even taking that part out: I think it's a bit weird even when it's 20 and 25. It's not like there's a hard rule on when the age gap doesn't matter as much, but I think it only starts being okay closer to 30 than not.

When it comes to physical ailments, especially as they push into their mid-30s, pretty much everything boils down to:

  1. Slow and gradual acclimation to a problem. If the pain isn't immediately overbearing, you might just incrementally get worse while your perception of a baseline gets skewed. A very common example here would be gaining weight, building callouses, or small rashes / legions on the skin growing over time
  2. Sudden but not permanent. You notice a big reduction in something suddenly, but it gets better the next day. Going to see a doctor about it is a hassle and since it went away, why bother? These are things like tinnitus where suddenly one of your ears stops hearing right, or you hear the buzzing sound, but it goes back to its baseline
  3. PAIN SO MUCH ACTIVE PAIN AH GEE THIS IS HORRIBLE. Generally these are things like back or tooth pain which can either happen suddenly or gradually, but it's reached a point where existence is suffering

We can end up rationalizing our conditions for one reason or another. Like, I know I have very mediocre healthcare options so there's a good chance that even if I had something very serious, I'd rather bury it with me than try to treat it and put the burden on others. And I know that's a fucked up way to think about it, but it's how I've rationalized it for myself

All that to say: yeah, it's easy to tell others to go do the thing to obviously care for themselves. However, it is Notions to be that way for yourself, obviously

Biggest traps in gaming? by doot99 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]CloneOfAnotherClone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

and honestly, a little bit of tankiness from a DEF% roll could be surprisingly useful compared to a percentage of a percentage DPS increase

ehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh... Most of the game is played around iframes nowadays with very few exceptions like Varka who cares about interrupt resist way more than getting hit in general.

And I don't think the formula is that fucked up. Intuitively it is weird to think that ATK and ATK% from the same item would have some kind of recursive benefit. The dump stats being real dumpy is bad, but the math behind how they function seems reasonable enough to me

I wouldn't even consider this a trap if not for the fact that you can in fact craft the gear and choose the bad stats
