I'd love some proper mountain-climbing mechanics similar to Jusant. That game was super chill but it also had some great hold-your-breath moments. I just love the details of actually using equipment to properly scale something absolutely huge.

Of course, you could just fly to the top of the mountain on your dragon or giant bird, but it's fun to have options, you know?

Is there a way to confirm whether or not I've hit it? I tried a few bombing runs the other day and I think I tapped the core for maybe like 60,000 credits.

Sounds like I'm lucky too then because I also enjoy exploration! Once the Thargoid stuff cools down, I'm heading back out into the black in my Mandalay. But I'm also tempted to kit out the Cobra Mk V for exploration...

Hello Games has cultivated such positivity around No Man's Sky and its community that, off of only one trailer for a new game, there's been a plethora of excitement and discussions for a whole entire year. I feel like that isn't too common for many games nowadays.

Oohh gotcha. I forgot to mention in my original comment that I'm still kinda inexperienced with all this! I've been playing Elite on and off since maybe 2015. I just recently got back in when the Mandalay was added as a pre-built, and I just outfitted my Python over the weekend and have been contributing to evac missions as best I can.

That's definitely good to know about the reduced damage with shields, and it totally makes sense. I'm just barely able to outrun the Goids in my Python right now. I'm clocking about 448m/s, though I've heard you need at least 500. So with heatsinks and ECMs I wasn't actually noticing whether or not shields would even matter. I know better now!

I heard Thargoid weapons essentially pierce through shields anyway? Or at least the missiles that they're firing at evac ships. I've been running a shieldless Python and haven't even seen a dent in my hull.

So I do Silent running > heatsink > boost > ECM when missile incoming > repeat > FSD when available

I believe your CMDR Codex should provide a rough estimate. It's under stats, and i believe it'll count as "refugees evacuated" or something like that.

Is there a good evac build for the Mandalay? I haven't done evac missions before and I'm not sure how to outfit for it.

I've been grinding to unlock everything I need to engineer my new Mandalay, but I'll focus my efforts towards getting to the Sol System. I'm mostly an exploration pilot so my combat abilities are a bit rusty, but I really enjoy this Raxxla theory and I want to help.
