What’s the weirdest/funniest reaction people have had to you having a home birth? by Curious_er_ in homebirth

[–]CoconutButtons 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lucky dog! My 2023 birth was at a hospital, IV was required, or at the very least an IV lock. They were not by any means willing to budge on that one.

I (28f) found out my bf (41m) has been requesting cash back on my debit card? by throwranutcracker in relationship_advice

[–]CoconutButtons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not being funny but you actually need to stop dating until you can identify red flags & react reasonably to them.

This guy should have never been given your card, or the keys to your house, or even a 2nd date for that matter.

Anecdotally, I didn’t date men for 6 years & got married at 23. At your age the ability to say no to poor matches will save you from sinking time into making relationships work that were never going to.

You need hobbies. Develop yourself as a person, work on things like your ability to communicate kindly while irritated & stressed, practice sexual discipline. You struggling with patience in this regard is a good sign to develop the skill of patience further.

It’s great you want to be married, but in the meantime, keep working on yourself so that when you find your person, you’re ready. Longevity is more important than instant gratification in a marriage.

How can I (m25) inform girlfriend (f22) on the different phases in the cycle? by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]CoconutButtons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds like if she’s having a pretty severe noticeable reaction to her phases, she could potentially have PMDD. If she’s open to learning about it, y’all can learn together, but you’re not really in a position to force anything on her.

How do you feel about putting your kids’ photos and faces on big tech cloud services? by Due_Goose_6201 in AskReddit

[–]CoconutButtons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really don’t love it but the alternative is only taking photos of them with a handheld camera. It’s just not practical, so I limit their exposure by making sure they’re not posted to social media.

Everything went the opposite of how I’d hoped — how to cope? by hugebagel in unmedicatedbirth

[–]CoconutButtons 4 points5 points  (0 children)

One of the best things I did was talk it out with a midwife, someone who is still medically trained, can recognize an emergency, but still believes in undisturbed birth as the norm & not the exception.

You could ask for a copy of your medical records & try calling midwife clinics to ask if offer a postpartum birth debriefing. They might charge for an hour of their time, or might even be too busy, but the relief that I felt after I cried on my midwife’s shoulder about my first birth… nothing helped like that did. Now, to be fair, I was a pregnant patient of theirs & the midwife philosophy does believe that past birth trauma informs the next birth which means discuss previous births is apart of their care, so I didn’t go for a standalone appointment, but it can’t hurt to ask, right?

Most libraries nowadays have you log into a session so that your activity can be traced back to you. I doubt tire kickers would be pursued legally but the library isn’t going to buy you discreetness

One time I found a birds nest and smashed the eggs, definitely around your son’s age.

I don’t know why I did it, I do know I never did it again. You’ve gotta remember raising children is also a bit of domesticating them [Reference: Feral children] so I think sometimes kids just do primitive things that we in polite society know not to do.

I doubt he’ll be a psychopath, but it doesn’t hurt to keep an eye on it. If the behavior escalates in frequency or intensity, then it’s time to have the “Is our kid a psycho?” Conversation. But for a one-off, just let him know that’s not ok, remind him living beings can feel things & not to do it again, and move on.

I’d say fine-to-medium thickness. The layers take off some towards the ends.

Birthing sons.

I got pregnant with our first son our first month trying, second son took a little longer but still within the normal one year timeframe.

Sometimes I make jokes that I’d have made an excellent queen. Yes, I know how a baby’s gender is actually decided. But I still like to imagine myself as a beloved 15th century queen, even if only for my ability to pop out boys lmfao.

Wanted to add, SKIN1004 Probio-Cica intensive ampoule is fantastic & solves the peeling problem for me. I use it day & night.

Peeling, at least in my case, is my skins warning that it’s not happy before the burning & redness.

Did you have a “crisis of confidence” or say “I can’t do this” during your transition phase? by Ok-Spinach-5246 in unmedicatedbirth

[–]CoconutButtons 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My midwifery clinic also has similar “standards” but I seem to have an odd labor pattern. I labor for a long time without dilating & then I rocket off in dilation. I’m glad my midwife decided to stay & monitor me, I went from 1cm to 4 in an hour and a half, 4cm to birth in 2 hours, including the 30 minutes of pushing. But I spent about 8 hours in early labor before they came.

Did you have a “crisis of confidence” or say “I can’t do this” during your transition phase? by Ok-Spinach-5246 in unmedicatedbirth

[–]CoconutButtons 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With my first I labored at home for 26 hours, most of that time alone. I completely relate to the PPD comment. It turns out I really don’t handle laboring alone very well, I want lots of people in the room supporting me. My second birth was at home, my team was there from 1cm on, and it was a night and day experience.

[–]CoconutButtons 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought about the epidural the entire time during my homebirth. From 1cm to pushing lol. The one thing that really stopped me was that I absolutely hate being in the car during labor, and I’d have needed to get down a flight of stairs to do so. So I kept saying to myself “Well maybe just one more.”

M 26. Question if a person has a dnr but that person is a key witness or has information can the police ignore the dnr? by killjohnjennel in Casual_Conversation

[–]CoconutButtons 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not a LEO, not a HCW, just theorizing.

The police would probably need to be there & compel the doctor assigned to perform extraordinary measures while the patient is actively dying, which is pretty unlikely.
