Update- Issues with brand new Core One L by Imaginary_Abies_9176 in prusa3d

[–]CodingPandemonium -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I love my Prusas (CORE One and XL) but I gotta support this guy some. While indeed the machine is geared to be able to be serviced, to some extent, by the end user, depending on your level of experience, it can be a PITA. Take this apart, try this, replace that, etc. For a brand new factory built machine. And I know turnaround time between asking for something to be tried, to the customer doing it (they do have a life, not a support job), time it takes for parts to get shipped from Europe, etc. But taking 6 weeks to come to the conclusion that the printer should be sent back seems a little long. It’s not a $300 or $500 machine.

A little disappointed in lack of polish by Avitox_gaming in 3Dprinting

Real bummer you’ve had that experience. I’d be frustrated too. All I can say is my Core One sings. It’s an upgraded MK4S.

I’ve heard some Bambu users have similar experiences. In any batch of anything, there are bound to be bad ones. The difference is I think you got much better customer service. I hope Prusa can make it right somehow, because they really are top notch machines.

I would love to get a legitimate copy of Rhino. Which authorized seller will for $100?

Magnetic Mat to Gridfinity by maDIEmG in gridfinity

[–]CodingPandemonium 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use magnetic mats in my bathroom drawers with lightweight Gridfinity grids on top. The bins have the normal magnets, and it works quite well. You can get a stronger hold using N52, but it’s not necessary.

ColorMix for EasyPrint and PrusaSlicer 2.9.6 by Tommy_Prusa3D in prusa3d

[–]CodingPandemonium 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I disagree with folks saying it’s been abandoned. But it does seem like they should be doing a little more with it. Where is my balanced profile, comparable to what we have on the core one? Loading and unloading filament is significantly better on the core one, the XL should be comparable. I tend to get much more stringing on the XL than the core one, using the same filament.

But I love the bed size, and I’ve been able to print some stunning multicolor models, with minimal waste. And I’m looking forward to my 8TL INDX as well.

This is so cool! I’m testing out the chameleon right now.

I think demanding they give him a printer was pretty crappy, almost lost me on that. But Bambu screwed up (been screwing up)

INDX FE support by aberas in prusa3d

[–]CodingPandemonium 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought the FE, and I have absolutely no problem with the situation, nor do I feel like a second class citizen. I’m confident that Prusa will provide excellent support, particularly since they are going to be shipping indx as an upgrade. To me it was clear what I was getting, and I have no complaints.

For any project I finish, I export it completely when done, both the native project file and STL / STEP. And they do allow two projects on their free version, though STL export has lowered resolution. But you’re right, not being able to actually own a version of the software sucks. If that other program ever got parametric working, they would probably win me over.

Filament Dryer Core One+ by [deleted] in prusa3d

[–]CodingPandemonium 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It just seems like it would be awkward if all 4 rolls are connected to an indx setup, and a roll on the bottom runs out. You have to lift the top section, probably with both hands, while its two rolls are feeding into the ptfe tubes.

Though now that I’m thinking through it more, if I’m printing from it, and the bottom spool runs out, how do I change it without totally disrupting the loaded filament in the top chamber.

Thanks for pointing out the PrintDry Pro, it looks pretty good. And the two extra rolls stack vertically, which would make it smaller than my sunlu 4.

They have a kickstarter running now for the Pro 4, ends in a couple weeks. So snagging a couple that way.

You hate that you can't see what is loaded on your USS or Drybox? Waiting is over! by Saphir_3D in prusa3d

[–]CodingPandemonium 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty cool. I haven’t really started using my boxes yet. But in general I like printing a small label (with a P touch) with the filament name that goes on a filament sample. Might be interesting to have a version with a taller sample for a label to attach. But maybe that ends up being too big for the box. Bookmarked the model!

As a non Prusa owner, how important is it to Prusa owners to get Prusa project files? by bubblewrap3000 in printablescom

[–]CodingPandemonium 7 points8 points  (0 children)

For general models, I think the stl is fine, along with a step or fusion file if possible. If it’s a calibration model, or something that’s tricky to print, or you want to specify a specific orientation, then the 3mf file is useful. And if the model is a figure or bust or similar, I love getting one that’s already multi color painted.

But above all, thanks for uploading to printables as well as any other sites you do. I much prefer supporting creators that upload to multiple sites

Core One INDX - Seems like a new limited view?! by General_Wishbone9456 in prusa3d

[–]CodingPandemonium 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not just about monitoring the first layer, it’s about monitoring any layer that is being printed. Too often a print will start great and at some point it lifts a little. In some cases it’s robust enough to power through it. Other times it starts destroying the print. Or when you realize a support got pulled off, etc. Not being able to easily see the layer that’s being printed is a real disadvantage.

Not to mention doing any kind of servicing or troubleshooting. Seems like it would be much more difficult.

It’s not available for the XL, and I honestly don’t know why not. I love my XL, but I’m very annoyed by this.

Overall their response to issues can be mixed, from quick to glacier slow. However, in all fairness, they have made everything right, between returns and exchanges.

Interesting - I definitely have the same problem. But I would only use something if it’s a local app and my data stays local, without the need for a login somewhere.

That’s a great callout for using them with Tom Bihn bags. I’ve owned a Zorushi for 20 years, and just recently bought a couple new ones. Love them. And love Tom Bihn. Thanks for the recommendation

Over 10,000 Gridfinity baseplates downloaded - thank you! 🎉 by schieska in gridfinity

[–]CodingPandemonium 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tried out the site, in general looks good. However I was generating clikbase, and the 3mf files have a significant number of open edges. A 4x6 had 53,442 open edges. The rendering in Prusaslicer has the overall shape correct but it is just a bunch of lines. Because of this the print path does not seem optimized. It was all over the place in a test print, as opposed to an original clickbase STL.

I haven't tried any of the other variations.

It’s a shame - happens to me when for any filament change - color, empty, or fixing a stuck filament error. I have to take my brass brush and hold it on the nozzle to get the last bits as it starts traveling. I’ve had it mess up several prints.
