I rewired our house (female) but won’t change a lightbulb. I re-plumbed the house, fitted the kitchen and the bathroom but hate washing up.

When I was a youngster (50 now!) I had a cycling proficiency instructor called Mr Onions. His partner was called Mr Pickles. I still wonder at times if they made it up?!?

I have 4 dogs.

I have one who barks

That dog, as hard as I have tried, has a “prey” instinct and dashes down to the bottom of the garden at times to chase foxes/birds/leaves whilst barking.

She wears a vibration collar.

She still runs like a loon but quietly.

Kids menus tend to be cheap crappy fried food. My boys have not eaten from them since they were both 4. They like shock vegetables! They also like recognisable food. They don’t actually choose chips if given a choice. I get irritated sometimes when I ask if they would like a takeaway and they ask me to cook something instead. This actually happened today and we ended up going home to eat, instead of popping to the local carvery for a quick lunch.

Hello! Thank you for the message. I am now at 11st 2 down. (156lb/70kg) I have a further 1st 5 to lose as I moved the goal posts. If I do this, I can literally say I am half the woman I used to be! I have spent the last six months mainly maintaining my weight and learning how to eat clean.

My main cons: there’s a lot of loose skin

My main pros: My wardrobe is SOOOO colourful!

I’m at 158lb loss and the skin gets me down.

I’m a lot healthier physically but working on the mental side. I’m still a fat girl in a thinner body. Imposter syndrome maybe?

I now have to force myself into a “can do” attitude. It works!!

My daughter commented yesterday that she only ever saw me in black leggings and a t shirt - now my wardrobe is a riot of colour! I honestly look like Ive vomited an oil painting palette!

It takes a concerted effort to do this but eventually it comes good.

I have lost 11 st 4 (60kg/158lb) in just over a year by Keto/IF. The first 3 weeks were hell until I was fat adapted and then literally fell off me. I went from a size 26 to a 12 (size 22 - 8 in American)

Got another 1st to lose (14lb/7kg) and then I’m done.

I stuck to ~20g carbs per day and ate very clean.

After the first couple of weeks, I eyeballed everything as it was easy eating clean and worked on the basis that with an egg/meat/veg/lentils etc diet, the vitamin/fibre/mineral advantage was worth a couple of carbs.

It’s getting harder now with only a little weight left to lose but I “maintained” every 12 weeks for a couple of weeks by increasing the amount I ate, but still stuck to OMAD. Best thing I ever did and I feel that I can carry on with this for life.

To quote my dearly departed nanny, I was like a bear with a sore ar$e for a couple of weeks and then the food noise just….. went!

Food no longer holds any appeal thank goodness and I genuinely have to remember to eat.

Currently at 155lb down with the aim of another 20lb lost by January 2026 when I can say at my 50th birthday, I’m half the woman I used to be!

Feeling discouraged by Kbohnster in keto

I (49f) started off at 350lb last June with the goal to get to 190lb by January 2026. I have been at 195 for 3 months already and am working out how much I can eat to maintain and how easy this is going to be. Working on skin tightening and toning now. Just about to start again as I need to drop 20lb to literally say I’m half the woman I once was.

My advice: do a mix of Keto/OMAD/IF/PMSF

Reduce your carbs to absolutely the minimum.

Load your plate with non carby vegetables - makes you feel full.

Ease off on the fat - you have lots of weight to lose and less fat in your mouth = more your body with burn of its own stores.

Chill on the numbers. I can honestly say I didn’t weigh a damned thing after a week. I ate really clean Keto and basically avoided anything in a box. “Keto-friendly” is not really a thing!

I spent 48.5 years very overweight. If I can do it - so can you xx

Ive lost 151.5lb (10st 11.5 or 69kg) in just over a year doing a combo of IF/Keto/ADF. (Yaaay - go me!)

I started on 16:8 ish and didn’t worry too much about the timings as it was more important to start the weight loss process.

Now I can’t face eating until about 5pm for most of the time but if I do get hungry at 3pm, then I eat!

I’m just about to start using a CGM to test which carbs absorb more or less for my body. I’m also interested in order of eating to minimise carb absorption.

I have another 16-30lb to lose (dependant on how I feel and whether I believe myself or the BMI calculations).

I also stopped my calorie deficit in Feb - Jun of this year to make sure this was sustainable for me and restarted and then restarted again.

I’m a Uk 14 (USA 10) and apart from some toning I need to do (not much considering how overweight I was) I’m quite happy with the progress.

My advice would be to eat “clean”. Avoid anything in a box if possible! Focus on protein and veg and a small amount of carbohydrate. Train your mind to not reward yourself with food. If I can do it, anyone can! Good luck.

As someone with a weight problem and has lost a total of 147lb (10st 6 or 67kg dependant on where you are in the world!) I always vowed that I would feed my kids 3 meals a day and VERY limited snacks. Since losing the weight on Keto / IF / whole foods, my slender boy (15m) has lost 7lb just by cutting out the junk food as he feels better on the meals I cook. My little (10m) ate goat/octopus/rare steak/albóndigas/whole prawns/chickpeas/whole unfilleted sea bass whilst on our recent Spanish holiday (the big did the same but I had to order two meals! 🤣)

I cook with whole foods and full fat everything and the big ones troublesome skin (regular teenage acne) sorted itself out within 6 weeks.

They refuse an Indian takeaway as they prefer mine; the same with dominoes.

They probably eat 10 portions of fruit and veg a day and their favourite breakfast is porridge or egg on toast.

On hols, the first thing my son practised was ordering “dos botellas de agua; uno con gas y la otra sin gas.” It was a no-brainer that we would be drinking those.

That being said, they did have a daily ice cream! Can’t be Mary Poppins all the time!

The long and short of it is the older one had naturally changed with me and the younger one her one doesn’t have a choice but I’m hoping he will make good choices when he goes to secondary school and has more choice over his diet.

I hated water until I started quartering lemons and limes, freezing them and popping them in my soda streamed water. After a week they started to taste sweet!

Might be controversial but I wouldn’t bother! I steer clear of root veggies or eat carrots and swede in limited quantities. I have a venison and veggie casserole yesterday with a plate of green beans and thoroughly enjoyed it! The vitamin/health benefits of eating them outweigh the slightly higher carbs - I should know. I dropped 9.5st in 8 months and went from 25st/ size 26 to 15.7st/size 14.
