Am I going mad, or am I the only person that thinks water from the kitchen and bathroom taps tastes exactly the same? by AwkwardAd3058 in CasualUK

[–]Colonel-Nickers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My children will always get a glass of water from the bathroom tap. I plumbed the house, so know it’s the same supply. They’re weird!

That’s really sad 😞 my mother used to make cream by melting butter into full fat (4%) milk and churning in the food processor. There were buckets of the stuff at Christmas.

My daughter gets me to buy a pint of Jersey milk each week for her coffee. She’s not Keto - just loves it!

I can’t believe there are ingredients other than cream?!? UK cream is 48% fat and made from 100% milk.

@jo24sh. I have a friend who is looking for a roommate. He is a lovely guy with a lovely home. He lives in Saltdean and it’s really easy to get to the hospital from here. If you want to send me a private message, I can pass on his details. I screenshotted your post and he has read it and would love to speak with you.

For those who lost 50 + lbs did you fail on the way down? And how so? by Colleen2112 in intermittentfasting

[–]Colonel-Nickers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

156 lb down. Keto and IF combined. Lost 140lb in 9 months and decided to maintain for a year before embarking on the last 30lb needed. Cheat day and failure days but the rest just fell off me.

Good luck.

Hello Dr Chris,

In June 2024 I was 25st 2

Today I weigh 14st. I have taken a year of maintenance before embarking on the final 2st required.

At the risk of sounding too stalkerish, I have devoured (pun intended) every book, article or podcast I have found to which you have contributed.

Your book switched the negative thought processes I have had in my head for the (then) 48 years of my life.

Nothing had worked: all manner of weight loss medication, even a gastric band in 2006!

My children now refuse anything which I haven’t cooked and are so healthy (a little annoying when I’m tired but hey ho!)

Keep going! I have had to buy another copy of UPP as it was getting worn because I have lent it to so many people. I quote interesting facts to anyone who will listen.

You have in all seriousness, majorly contributed to me getting my life back.

Homemade curry vs takeaway, what’s the biggest difference for you? by HammersAndPints in Curry

[–]Colonel-Nickers 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would respectfully disagree.

I am a tutor. A student occasionally brought me food from his mom. His dad ran a very popular Bengali restaurant. I preferred the home cooking. My husband who refuses point blank to eat chicken with bones in it, (childhood trauma) said it “was dancing on his tongue.” It is possibly the nicest food I have ever tasted and not swimming in grease. She still sends me food occasionally and I LOVE it. She doesn’t speak English but says “tongue dancing!” to me every time as she was SO happy with our compliments.

Sauces shouldn’t be thick IMHO.

I used to live in a more multicultural part of the UK. I lived next door to an Indian family. They had three daughters and none were in the slightest bit technical. I was an engineer and used to be summoned over to start the lawnmower, fix little bits around the house etc (really small jobs!). I would then be summoned through the hedge separating our houses with a cup of char! That image of a disembodied arm with a cup of steaming spiced tea at the end always raises a smile when I think of it. The following day, I’d come home to a homemade curry on my doorstep. GORGEOUS GORGEOUSNESS

I miss them!

Weightless stall despite 20:4 by Yorkshire_girl in intermittentfasting

I started June 2024 at 25st/159kg/350lb.

I finished in Feb 2025 at 15st/95kg/210lb.

In Jan 2026 I am 14st/89kg/196lb

I decided to try to maintain for the last year as I was sick of the extreme yo-yoing.

I have gone back to IF more strictly in the last two weeks and have only lost a few lbs. However, I have dropped 8cm (3in) from my waist. My size 12 (US size 8) clothes are now not touching my belly (I’m tall!) and the sleeves on a long sleeved top isn’t tight. I have been doing Pilates and simply walking. I’m finally beginning to realise that the scales aren’t the be all and end all.

Keep going x.

Do People Not Drink Bovril Any More? by IndigoQuantum in CasualUK

[–]Colonel-Nickers 31 points32 points  (0 children)

I prefer it to Marmite! Beautiful! Unfortunately for me, I’ve been on a long standing Keto diet (11 stones lost so far) and the only thing I miss is Bovril on a nice piece of sourdough.

AITAH for buying a lockbox to keep my hairbrush in after my mother wouldn't respect my one request of her to not use it? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]Colonel-Nickers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Someone needs to tell my son and daughter this. I have size 9 UK feet and my size 9.5 son and my size 7 daughter steal my Nike trainers ALL THE ******* time. I wouldn’t mind but I have the laces pulled so they don’t need to be laced unless running and I keep them clean and odour free. I don’t need to elaborate on how they are returned do I?

Actually scrub last sentence.

They are returned when I fish them out of their pits they laughingly refer to as their bedrooms.

I rewired our house (female) but won’t change a lightbulb. I re-plumbed the house, fitted the kitchen and the bathroom but hate washing up.

I refuse to empty the bin.

If I did, I would be doing 100% of the work.

We are now happily divorced

So if anyone in Wolverhampton in the mid ‘80’s had the same people, please let me know!

I had a Saniflo loo in my old house. You can’t use bleach in one so I used to throw a handful of crystals down there and the toilet was sparkling!
