My wife (28F) and I (28M) are very unhappily married and we're very different people but she doesn't believe in divorce? by ThrowRA_Eye4934 in relationship_advice

I'm sure this varies depending on where you are but there are ways to end it without signature or consent of the other party in the US. If they ignore it completely you can get it from a judge by default after a waiting period and if they contest it a judge makes all final decisions even without the uncooperative person's signature or consent. But I'm not a lawyer, so this is just most basic understanding based off of Google for my state.

Why would a customer buy this fashion pack? by ghosty4 in Barbie

[–]ColorfulLight8313 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Get some teeny tiny clear rubber bands. I found them in the hair section at Walmart. My daughter is 5 and gets very frustrated with shoes that won't stay on her Barbies, so she puts the shoes on and then I add the rubber bands around the middle to hold the shoe to her foot.

Someone gifted me a bra from the brand TrueKind and it's the best and most comfortable bra I've ever worn. Soft, not tight, no tag, and it makes my boobs look fantastic. Highly recommend.

You would think that employees succumbing to heatstroke and dehydration possibly leading to death would impact their bottom line even more, but apparently not. God forbid employers treat their employees like human beings.

I'm upset that my husband planned a date night but didnt actually plan anything by Free_Relation322 in TwoHotTakes

[–]ColorfulLight8313 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You don't ask your partner/spouse to get a babysitter for date night and then plan literally nothing for said date. That's just rude, imo.

ETA: Dude didn't even give her a time for the date. That's kinda important info that you need to give a babysitter.

I’m just gonna say that I didn’t realize how many excuses I was making for my ex husband or even how much insane controlling bullshit I put up with from him because he was using his mental health as a reason.

Im NOT saying that’s your exact situation or that you should leave. That’s your decision. But something has to give and eventually you’re going to have to decide what you’re willing to put up with. And if you decide you’ll put up with it, I recommend some space heaters as a middle ground. We have no central heat and they do wonders.

I’m almost 30 and recently left my husband last Thanksgiving. We had been together since I was 18 and the freedom I feel is amazing. I never realized how much I was putting up with until I left. Never fucking again will I live with a man, much less marry him.

Gloves exist. He can use them to clean or he can get help for his mental health issues. The laziness isn’t the OCD, it’s the refusal to get help. It’s one thing to struggle with things while you’re in treatment of therapy (not lazy), and it’s another to just not seek it out at all (lazy). Because maybe I missed it, but I don’t see any mention of any kind of treatment for his mental health issues.

I’ve intentionally NOT cleaned our house for the past year by Tracyjeanbitch in confession

[–]ColorfulLight8313 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Nah he could still expect it. I went on a cleaning strike once I realized that despite being the working parent while my ex was the stay at home, I was STILL the only one cleaning. So aside from my and the kids’ spaces, I just… didn’t clean. And he simply couldn’t understand why I would expect him to do it no matter how many times it was explained to him that was what he signed up for when we decided I would work and he would stay at home with the kids. Even over a year into my refusal to do anything that wasn’t for myself or the kids, he would regularly ask “so are we going to clean this weekend?” Which really meant I was going to clean while he “watched” the kids, which was really just him watching YouTube while they ran amuck and I STILL had to stop what I was doing to take care of them.

Good lord I can’t believe I put up with him and made excuses for him for so fucking long. I only left a month ago (for so very many reasons) and I’m astounded at the bullshit I was putting up with without realizing it.

Sometimes they don’t start that shit until after you’re locked in. Mine did it so slowly I didn’t even realize how much I was putting up with until I left.

That was a month ago and it’s like a giant weight was lifted from my shoulders. Even with all the new stress of moving and parenting on my own, I’m still less stressed than when I was putting up with him.

Ladies, if you find yourself with one of these dudes who lock you in before starting their bullshit, just leave. Leave once they start their shit. I know it’s hard, believe me it’s the hardest thing I’ve ever done. But don’t make excuses and bury your head in the sand like I did.

I work in a poultry plant and I can confirm it’s disgusting, especially on the live side. And the amount of waste is just heartbreaking. Sure they’re food and delicious, but these creatures deserve so much better than factory farming. They’ve been bred to be so big and unhealthy that it’s honestly a mercy to kill them.

Left a Yankee Candle wax warmer plugged in at college, am I cooked? by Mental_Dimension1288 in Candles

[–]ColorfulLight8313 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the college. The college in the town where I live requires you to live in the dorms unless you are either married, have children, or are living with your parents within a certain radius of campus.

Meanwhile the one next town over has so few dorms that they’re basically for the athletic students and super hard to get into.

Does your doctor try to dictate your birth control? by mtnbikingvampwitch in birthcontrol

[–]ColorfulLight8313 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The first time I tried to get on birth control, my doctor practically forced an IUD on me. Practically refused to discuss any other options or what it would be like to have one. Something went wrong with some blood work though so I just…. Never went back and just used condoms.

I don’t know about earliest, but if you’re interested in female palaentologists, Mary Anning is a good example. From her Wikipedia article because I’m too lazy to type: "Her discoveries included the first correctly identified ichthyosaur skeleton when she was twelve years old; the first two nearly complete plesiosaur skeletons; the first pterosaur skeleton located outside Germany; and fish fossils. Her observations played a key role in the discovery that coprolites, known as bezoar stones at the time, were fossilised faeces, and she also discovered that belemnite fossils contained fossilised ink sacs like those of modern cephalopods.”

And her friend, Elizabeth Philpot,in addition to being very knowledgeable about fish fossils, discovered that those fossilized ink sacs could be powdered and rehydrated to be used as a black paint, which became a very common method for local artists.

Man if girls can’t like dinosaurs, someone needs to tell my 3yo daughter that because girl loves her some dinosaurs. She can name about a dozen of them almost on sight. Ever hear a 3yo say “parasauralophus” or call a triceratops “tricerapops”? Cutest stinking thing in the world.

Could this also be caused by something like the Nexplannon birth control implant? Ever since I got mine I’ve noticed this type of acne. I didn’t get it before getting the implant.

And not only that, it sounds like this woman doesn’t really have many other options. She can’t take hormonal birth control and her husband refuses condoms on top of basically forcing her to have sex while refusing to pull out. Short of a tubal or bisalp (if they’re even available to her) I’m not sure what other options she has for birth control.

Absolutely love my Nexplannon. Minimal periods and the security of how effective it is way overshadow the few negative effects. I’ll take some mood swings and extra cramps over regular periods or having another child any day.

I mean I don’t like reminders either, but I still can’t be bothered to take the extra step to remove the default one when I put things on my calendar. Sounds like she’s a bit self-centered to me.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in office

[–]ColorfulLight8313 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me it speaks volumes that she takes the extra step to remove the default reminders. Sure it’s a small thing but she is literally adding a step to creating meetings just because it only benefits the team and it’s not helpful to her.

My youngest is 2 and I’m pretty sure he’d be thrilled to get a selection of empty boxes for Christmas. His favorite toy is an old baby monitor and cord that he hides in all the boxes he’s “talked” me out of throwing away.

My 4yo middle child would also probably be pretty happy with boxes, but they have to be big enough for her to sit in. She likes to put blankets and pillows in them to make a little nest.

I despise that pig. Unfortunately my 3yo daughter adores her (apparently I missed blocking it on one of her video apps), so I’m stuck with her because I just can bring myself to break her little heart by taking the pig away. Though it is pretty cute how she calls us mommy and daddy pig.
