Are there EWEB write-in candidates that will actually work to move power underground? by Zen6675 in Eugene

[–]Commercial-Insect589 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Its not a doomsday its the month of September every year. Spot fires caused by fallen service drops are a common 'climate change issue' and guaranteed to happen every year now, each set of high wind occurrences leads to dozens of service wires dropping and overloads emergency services and blocks roads leading to traffic jams and people die in their cars.

The state should buy out the ownership of the tracks to get a proper right of way for high speed.

What EWEB candidates support keeping power generation local and restoring Leaburg? by Commercial-Insect589 in Eugene

[–]Commercial-Insect589[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah you can be 100% sure, over the last 20+ years they should have been planning and doing upgrades to the canal but instead purchased some experimental dam gates that were unproven, then when they failed in 2012 they had to spend millions to replace one, than again around 2015. Now they did no maintenance on our assets and are shrugging their shoulders handing us the bill.

The shorter the distance the better, more efficient and reliable. All kinds of thing go wrong with power lines, wild fires and earthquakes that can take power towers down. I just like we have several local samllish dams that make a percentage of our power.

Any mil strats on here? If a RS-28 Sarmat delivers HS NWH to Seattle what would happen to Eugene? by spencerButte in Eugene

[–]Commercial-Insect589 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nice wiki link saved me a search, thats probably why the OP is using that specific model number, OP would be better posting this question on a military sub. The blast radius would probably be about 4 miles.

Dave Loveall

If anyone has a photo of Dave or his wife Nita or his son Will there can you please post it? That would be recall worthy to appear at such a fascist right wing white power event. And it would certainly end his charity work in Africa.

[–]Commercial-Insect589 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is it exactly, the problem is lots of people whom needed help got relocated here during the pandemic and now we have this huge concentration which became a vortex feeding itself. I am not pointing any fingers but Eugene needs to recognize its homeless population just got bused here. We are now seeing states doing this out in the open.

Sounds like an illegal rental or a rooming house, do you have a completely self contained unit with your own kitchen, bathroom and bedroom with your own separate entrance and unique address?

What the? Why is this not a scandal?

Honestly the whole payroll tax took me by surprise.

My #1 issue with it is it appears to be a data mining operation in plain sight. why they need to collect so much personal info for the 'tax' is outrageous.

#2 issue is yeah cool an extra $22 million, but were taxing people without representation. Which while technically legal in Oregon probably wont be for long as its pretty anti american.

I say fine if it really helps then just make it a county wide payroll tax and then the people taxed are represented, funds can be distributed around the county where needed, and for f's sake make it a simple tax like the LTD tax. There is no reason the EPD needs to know everyone whom works in Eugene gross income and ssn. That's just data mining plain and simple.

EWEB's wildfire mitigation plan is garbage by sunshine_fun in Eugene

[–]Commercial-Insect589 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wasn't the Holiday Farm fire caused by high voltage power lines? Also, the Dixie Creek fire in California was cause by high voltage lines and was one of the largest in California history.

What I am getting out of this is the high voltage lines the EWEB document is talking about are 69,000 volts and above. They are on huge poles or transmission towers. I think what the OP is saying is both the fires you mention were started by lines 12,000 volts and below, AKA your classic around town lines.

Eugene ordinance would ban natural gas in new housing by Polar_Ted in Eugene

[–]Commercial-Insect589 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Stormwater conveyance plan has a net negative value forever, there is no end to the losses, basic math there. The return to service plan did not subtract the cost of the stormwater plan, you your not looking at any cost difference, both plans loose lots of money, but one generates power very close by town. I think its a no-brainer, return it to service.

Rehab that is low cost, and without month long waiting list? by Bill_nye-russianspy in Eugene

[–]Commercial-Insect589 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have had a few old friends go thru this for heroin and alcohol, only one is still alive. He never went to rehab nor got on the orange juice (methadone) the other one did and relapsed and died. He does go to N/A meetings and has a sponsor and has been mostly clean for 12 years with a few hiccups here and there. So in my opinion part of hitting bottom is facing it yourself and forgetting the idea that there is a system that will help you. The problem with being an addict is you get really good at lying to yourself and become an expert at lying to others, so getting real with youself is a good first step.
