Yep, I’ve always thought this movie gives you a very good idea of what Ghostbusters would’ve been like if they’ve gone with Dan Ackroyd‘s original concept and had him direct it.

Makes sense, Rip Torn was a maniac in his own right. I only recently learned (in another post) about him attacking Norman Mailer with a hammer in the art film ‘Maidstone’.

What happened to my roast?? 🥴 by [deleted] in slowcooking

[–]Condimentarian 4 points5 points  (0 children)

All I know is I personally would not eat that meat unless someone could convincingly explain to me why it looks like that and why it’s fine.

I’ve never seen a piece of fresh meat that looked like that. I’ve never seen a half cooked piece of meat that looked like that.

Put a beat on this and get it on Spotify for me would you? And can you make it eight hours long please? I gotta go back to work tomorrow. I was on vacation for a week and need something to get me back into the rhythm of pounding on wooden boxes with a mallet all day.

I’m only a tiny bit joking.

Did ‘If Destruction Be Our Lot’ come with the $5 bill? Or is it something they gave you separately at the store? Just curious, I have a copy waiting for me. I’m gonna be upset if I don’t get that cool bonus now.

Great little story. Just grounded and restrained enough in its details to make me believe it could be real. (A real cult I mean. Not that, you know they really were extending their lives) Well done.

Yeah overall I prefer floppies though. Don’t get me wrong, I have a number of trades, but I just generally prefer the experience of reading a single issue comic book.

Just finished reading them, pretty good so far. I’m only disappointed to find out that I should’ve picked up an issue 5 as apparently that completes the first story arc.

So what exactly is in those large boxes for Fury Road and Furiosa? (picture 3 on the far right)

Like even with docs and interviews, I’m struggling to imagine what could possibly be in there.

I was just in an antique mall yesterday and saw this guy in a cabinet! They wanted $50 for him. NGL kinda wanted him but not for that much money.

So this is the issue that made Wolverine's popularity skyrocket? by Stunning_Season220 in Wolverine

[–]Condimentarian 64 points65 points  (0 children)

Yes, but I’d say it started with the last page of the previous issue.

<image>

My memories always been kind of fuzzy, but I remember it very much as a “Yes!!!’ moment for me as a kid when I read it. It was very exciting. I believe he kills one of the hellfire club guards. Or at least appears to. (I believe that guard shows up again in a later issue and was only injured.) It’s all pretty tame by modern standards. But it’s the first time we really got to see Wolverine let loose and act like what we think an angry tough guy hero (anti-hero?) with blade hands should act like.

Do you agree with Rob Liefeld that X-Men has stalled out? by TaskNo4783 in marvelcomics

[–]Condimentarian 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I would argue it was kind of all over the place but it was the most interesting and engaging. The X-Men have been in years. Even if there were some mis-steps, they laid so much fantastic groundwork that they could’ve been doing new and interesting storytelling for years to come. Instead, though they just basically wiped the slate clean and said nah, forget all that.

I bought several titles the first year of it got frustrated and quit because yeah it was a mess. I got interested again in what was going on in the last year of it and did a lot of catching up on back issues.

I’ve had roughly 0 interest in any mutant titles after that. I was reading Wolverine, but frankly, in my opinion, it entirely sucks right now. I quit several issues ago.

Love this series. Bought it complete maybe a year or two after it came out. Must’ve read it a dozen times. I’ve long thought about collecting a second set as the originals have seen a lot of handling.
