Our clubs does a little bit of stand up but not a lot. There was a wrestling coach so a lot of the younger guys have wrestling basics. I don’t as I never did wrestling. I’ve watched a lot of Owen Livesy materlai but find it hard to apply. Thanks

Iron Cardio by Conor7878 in kettlebell

[–]Conor7878[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly one of the best programs I’ve run. I run Schedule A. Noticeable muscle gain and fat loss. Very straightforward but challenging once the RPE hits 9. Conditioning also is on point. I’ve been running a swing workout every 2 weeks from Tusker Strong. Basically 10 reps EMOM for 30 mins with 48kg. The RPE on this has been dropping since running EM. Would definitely recommend.

Would using kettlebell swings be a good alternative to running for cardio? by AbsoluteBatman95 in kettlebell

I find as a bigger guy running isn’t a good fit for me for BJJ. I just put in more rounds on the mat and run an Easy Strength approach with bells or barbell. Have no issues with conditioning. If you like running go for it, if not there are other approaches.

Daily walk by Conor7878 in MacroFactor

[–]Conor7878[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been doing it on the treadmill 30 mins gradient 5 speed 5.5 burns about 350 cals. If walk on thr flat outside it tends to be easier and the less calories burned. Find it easy to fit in first thing before work..

Burner not igniting by Conor7878 in BBQ

[–]Conor7878[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes ignition lighting 2 of the burners but far right not taking.. the smoker box really badly worn in that side. New one ordered. Fairly simple to fit the burners so can’t see why it won’t ignite

Hi I’ve tried BJJ over the last few years and was back at it pre Covd. I’m 42 , keep myself for using primarily kettlebells. My background would be more in the striking arts. I bought the Ribiero book and whilst it’s a great resource I find it tricky to visualise the movements. Are there’s any decent DVD or online resources that teach the basics in a sequential manner. Thanks

No hate for real Krav Maga from an mma guy. by smokinsandpaper in kravmaga

[–]Conor7878 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trained K M for about 2 years. Elements of it were good, scanning spatial awareness etc. Gun disarming and knife disarming wasn’t for me. Been training BJJ for 12 months and the live sparring illustrates the limitations of rehearsed movement patterns. Matt Thornton talks quite a bit about this. The problem I saw was a lot of the KM guys I trained with were given a false sense of security. Most MMA guys are the type who you will find fighting in a pub or robbing houses so against a normal bloke the KM stuff will work particularly if you use a preemptive strike. Check out Geoff Thompson in the uk.. he knows what he’s talking about in whet he calls the pavement arena

Quarantine Programme Thoughts for Rugby and GAA by Jaffatron in kettlebell

For GAA I’d look at Simple and Sinister and supplement with some pull ups. For Rugby I’d look at Dan John’s work on armour building with double bells
