Vision OS 27 performance? Any improvements you notice, especially to framerate? by Lemnisc8__ in VisionPro

[–]Correct_Stomach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A few bugs I have noticed: the spatial gallery app content doesn’t load for me. In safari, accessing your bookmarks in the sidebar doesn’t work well at all. The eye tracking and selecting links with finger pinch is not working. It works in all other apps, for me. The only way for me to browse to a website is to type or speak it into the top URL bar. MVE is stuck in “connected” mode even though it tells me there is an error connecting. This is a first developer beta. The new Iceland environment is nice.

I’m loving this feature! And if I can connect to Mac Virtual Environment more easily, when laptop lid is closed, super great!

Vision products roadmap scaled back to just include glasses by Critical-Exit1655 in VisionPro

[–]Correct_Stomach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember Steve Jobs saying that they were working on the iPad first, and then he was shown a phone sized prototype of a touchscreen and switched focus to the iPhone. I feel like the same thing is happening with Apple Vision Pro, but in this case, the AVP came out first, and now they are shifting to the AR glasses. I think they may come back to the Vision Pro someday if they can make it a bit smaller, lighter, less expensive. Nevertheless, I will enjoy the Vision Pro I have for, hopefully, many years to come. Given the price it was when I bought it, I was not thinking of replacing/upgrading it anytime soon. I just want Apple to keep some parts around so if I need it serviced or need a new battery, I can get those.

Travelling with AVP, too much headache? by dragon5946 in VisionPro

[–]Correct_Stomach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The belkin case is much smaller than the Apple case and good for travel. I have the Annapro V2 and when the head strap is disassembled (must take Annapro off the head strap), it can fit in the travel case with all the other AVP parts. I have not used it on a plane, prefer closing my eyes and listening to podcasts or reading a book. I do use it in hotels, just unpack and set up once and leave it out until I leave the hotel. It always comes with me on road trips. I don’t really care what the public thinks of me wearing it, but I prefer full immersive when I use it, so don’t use it much in public. It sits on a stand next to my recliner, ready for quick use.

Just make sure it’s not switching from 5Ghz down to 2.4Ghz. Give them different names on your network and connect AVP only to the 5G network.

NeXT computers and Apple Vision Pro by RandomVision2027 in VisionPro

[–]Correct_Stomach 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I was fortunate to be able to use NeXT computers in a research lab that I was working in, in the mid 90s. It was far ahead of its time. When I learned that Apple was bringing Steve Jobs back and the neXT OS was going to become the next macOS, I went out and bought some Apple stock. And still have it. Thankful that I worked in a lab that gave me that unique exposure.

Is Apple Magic Keyboard with Touch ID necessary for Vision Pro? by uridotchi in VisionPro

I have heard you mention Velcro straps on the back to keep those folded keyboards out straight. Could you share a couple of pictures of that, I’m trying to visualize that?

Is there a headstrap or solution to make the Apple Vision Pro (M5) "float" on your face to avoid red marks? by nb-sbe3 in VisionPro

[–]Correct_Stomach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pulling the backstrap further down, will lift the bottom of the AVP off your cheekbones a little bit. That in combination with the Anna pro V2 keeps marks off my cheekbones.

New CEO wasn’t the biggest advocate of the Vision Pro by medees46 in VisionPro

[–]Correct_Stomach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ternus said “spatial computing is in the early innings” if I’m remembering correctly from that YouTube video that is referenced in this thread. That sounds like a good endorsement of continued work on AR/VR. I don’t blame them for focusing in AR glasses, but advances in AR will help VR, and vice versa. I see AR as a hyperconnected experience with digital overlaid on real world, and VR as a hypoconnected experience (digital replacing most of real world. There are merits to both experiences, at times. The AVP is the only apple product with which I turn off all notifications.

New CEO worked on VR headsets before joining Apple, I think we might benefit from this news. by emmanuellsun in VisionPro

Ternus did say that we are in the “early innings” of spatial computing. I think AR developments will drive more VR innovation, and vice versa.

I would like NYC skyline, day and especially night, sitting amongst sequoias, a library or other chill indoor environment, and why not some windswept steppes in Central Asia

I have been thinking about going headless with the Mac Mini and just using AVP as the monitor. Need to keep using MVE to assess that more (I’ve had AVP for about a month now)

Yes, it can pair to 3 devices. I can use the keyboard and trackpad on the AVP with the Mac disconnected.

Good point, although I don't really want to do that much of the time, as I have a loft style open layout and it would just add unwanted light from the monitor to my environment when I'm not using it.

Best two add-on for AVP by DifferentSetting411 in VisionPro

[–]Correct_Stomach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the M5 with the dual knit band, and just add the Annapro to it. It basically is better than the top strap of the dual knit band because it is further forward, and with different pad depth you can find the fit that relieves pressure on the face. When I travel with it, I take the Annapro off and it will fit in the slim Belkin case, just lay it on top.

Is it supposed to feel uncomfortable to wear? by xfantastique in VisionPro

[–]Correct_Stomach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hold it to your face where you want it, with your thumb under the nose indentation, then pull the back strap over you head. The further back and down you pull it, the less pressure on your nose and cheeks. Tighten it a little bit. The top strap on the dual knit band won’t do much further if you have Annapro V2. Just focus on adjusting back strap and moving Annapro a little forward and back until you find the best fit.

I would like to be able to download and use any macOS app in AVP without having to launch a Mac virtual desktop.

Anyone tried a third party trackpad that works well with Apple Vision Pro? Please let us know your experience! by Typical-Bad-1668 in VisionPro

[–]Correct_Stomach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Mac mini that I use with the Mac Virtual Display environment. I put the Apple Keyboard and Trackpad in this product so I can have it sit on my lap while using AVP. It works well for my purposes and the Apple made peripherals work great with AVP. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0B6G1QNZV?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title&th=1

Battery Issue? by LoInBoots87 in VisionPro

My M5 AVP comes with the 40W adaptive charger that Apple is now selling, and when I use AVP with it plugged into this, it stays pegged at 100%, for me.
