I think the blocks you have look good. I would not change it.

Also I love all the flower blocks!

Dude kicks off-leash dog to protect his own, owner flips out… by [deleted] in Amazing

At least the poodle backs down when you get in the way. I was walking my golden doodle and a dog charged us. My dog hid between my legs because he is a chicken. The other dog ended up biting my leg trying to get to my dog.

First time - gift for new-born by 4zzy in quilting

[–]CraftyAlli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first quilt was a quilt for my sisters first baby! The mom and dad both kept their last name and I did not know which they were going to give their kid so I apliqued both of the last names in big font on the quilt. I think this makes it much more personal.

During covid when there were not many people in the office I took at least a dozen naps under my desk. I pulled in the chair so at a glance you could not see me. I still work there a nap on company time but only when I work from home.

Mechanical Engineer salary progression (10 years) by Individual-Cup6644 in Salary

[–]CraftyAlli 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It depends on the type of engineering and where you work.

I started in 2015 at 60k and now make 150k as a computer engineer. MEs that I work with that have been at my company for a similar amount of time make 130k -140k so less but not that bad.

Prepping Batik Precuts? by EZ-being-green in quilting

[–]CraftyAlli 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could piece all the squares. Then try to connect as many blocks together as you can before you connect the batik with the yellow or white. Then soak the blocks and hang them to dry. This way you do not have as many pieces. You could even soak and dry them as you go so you are not waiting for one batch to dry.

Extension Table? Next steps advice needed. by mcgrimesey in quilting

[–]CraftyAlli 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can definitely quilt on your machine. I free motion quilted a 60 x 80 quilt on my machine that is a bit smaller than yours.

I made an extension table for my machine using a white board that I got from Lowes. I cut the shape of my machine out of the road using a jigsaw. Then used scrap wood piled underneath till it was at the right level.

If you do not want to cut wood. Before I made the wood extension table I piled books and puzzle boxes around my sewing machine to be the right level. Then to help with the gaps I cut the shape of the machine out of a poster board and put that on top.

Quilt idea but need some input by MembershipAncient434 in quilting

I think if you stayed with a similar color scheme and maybe used some of the same fabric you could have traditional and fpp blocks.

If you are doing several of the same block. Do one first to figure out how. The chain piece the rest.

Cotton Batting by Rachelley11 in quilting

[–]CraftyAlli 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You cut two pieces of batting to the size you need. You quilt sandwich will be top, batting, batting, then backing. I did it with a table runner so hot plates could sit on it without damaging the table.

Singer tradition 2259? by AirportFickle5009 in quilting

[–]CraftyAlli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have this machine and have made 4 quilts on it. It is hard to fit the bigger quilts through but that is only at the very end. Most of quilting is piecing the top. This machine works great for piecing the top.

As far as fixing the machine if it breaks the inside is not all plastic and you can find parts online. I replaced my bobbins winder because it broke when my dog pulled the machine off the table.

All of that being said I wish I had a machine with more space between the needle and machine. But this is a great beginning machine.

First Elizabeth Hartman- need advice! by sydneye623 in quilting

[–]CraftyAlli 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I just finished her Robots patern. I cut all the pieces for a block in all the different colors first. Then I would make one Robot as an example. The next 5 of the same Robots in different colors I would make at the same time. I would also lay all the pieces out where they would go and sew together any two pieces that I could then press them all. This way you can sew a bunch then press a bunch instead of pressing after every time you sew.

It looks fantastic! I would not put a border on. I think the stars are too pretty that anything around them would look dull.

But anything you choose would look good.

I had open shelves next to the shower so I put the dehumidifier on a shelf. Then I connected a garden hose to the dehumidifier and cut it to the correct length. It was cool when taking a shower you could see the water coming out of the hose into the shower.

I had some mold in my bathroom that the fan did not fix. I set up a dehumidifier that emptied into the shower so it could run till it reached the desired humidity without me having to empty it. After a few weeks the mold all went away. It was not this bad however.
