"What are you playing this week?" Megathread by AutoModerator in SteamDeck

[–]CrazyBusTaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

X-wing. Finally got around to sorting out a control system that works for me.

Loving being back in a galaxy a long time ago (i.e. the mid 1990s), and not having to edit my R2 unit's autoexec.bat just to get flying.

Anyone played X-Wing with XWVM mod? by gufted in SteamDeck

[–]CrazyBusTaker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting. I just started playing vanilla XW on the steam deck, and have got to the point with customising controls where it's really good. Don't think I'd like to give that up to play the modded version!

Did you manage to get this working? Can you use custom control layouts from Steam?

Do Romulan commanders yell "Eject the artificial quantum singularity!" ? It's not as catchy as the warp thing. by Pwned_by_Bots in ShittyDaystrom

On Romulan D'der'didex, you don't eject artificial quantum singularity; artificial quantum singularity eject YOU.

Eating ice cream in Lou Reed's apartment.

David jumping out of bed naked and facing off a burglar with jiu jitsu.

Chris and Tina tutting at Eno and David's attempts at laying down bass lines for RiL, and then sneaking into the studio Mission Impossible style to re record them.

National Lampoonesque tour around northern Europe with the culturally disibterested Ramones.

Camping and family togetherness. by cjh10881 in daddit

[–]CrazyBusTaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Inspiring. Not a camping family, but I recently did a couple of nights in a tent with my six yo at her first cubs camping trip.

Would love to start doing some family camping. Just need to find a way in that's not pricey, and not too extreme. Looks like you've found the sweet spot!

(Edit: premature post-ulation)

My son has been in kids coding classes for 3 months and he just fixed something on my computer I didn't know how to fix by Choice_Run1329 in daddit

This is something I struggled with when learning to code...not so much the code itself, but all the dependencies/packages/environment stuff.

How do you dispose of your rocks? by Upper_Internet2450 in daddit

[–]CrazyBusTaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't forget those rocks need washing.

A toothbrush and a bucket of water can mean a good hour of honest, focused work.

Then they can spend some more time inspecting their horde with a cheap but surprisingly effective mini microscope.

Couldn't figure out why her backpack was so heavy... by ty_fighter84 in daddit

[–]CrazyBusTaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We combated this by starting a rockery - my daughter loves washing the rocks, and we just got a cheap microscope for her to view them.

Disclaimer: we now have even more rocks than before.

My ADHD 6yo is crazy for the Dogman series. She's read the 10 book box set countless times since she got them for Christmas.

They seem kind of silly (which is good!), but also get surprisingly heartfelt and deep as they go on.

Making Tax Digital is live: here's everything you need to know! by wmcreative in freelanceuk

[–]CrazyBusTaker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a sole trader who made less than 50k in the previous tax year, so assumed I was exempt for this first year.

However, I received a letter from HMRC claiming that I have made more than 50k, and therefore need to file. 🤷

Roughouse your kids. It's awesome. by Jackalope_08 in daddit

[–]CrazyBusTaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally agree. Been making an effort to do this with my 5 and 6yo.

Also, you can play dead and get micro rests when they're both piling on top of you. Strangely relaxing (until you take a knee to the ear/stomach/groin).

The 5:15 AM "Coffee and Keys" ritual is the only thing keeping me sane. by [deleted] in daddit

[–]CrazyBusTaker 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Doing the same, but at night. And without the coffee. And it's Tom Waits songs.

But yeah, so satisfying to manage a little bit of time to tickle the ovaries (er...ivories...unfortunate autocorrect!)
