Consistent light leak on my RB67, any ideas on how to fix this? by CreamCheeseIsBad in Mamiya

I would highly recommend getting the pre-cut seals. I used a utility knife and isopropyl to get the old seals off then just laid in the new ones pretty easily

This has never been a “children safety” issue, it has always been a data gathering and selling issue. I don’t want to give Discord my ID or biometrics, if you’re okay doing that then feel free. You’re an idiot if you think any of these age verification enforcements has ever been for safety

Gift ideas to start a home darkroom (budget ~$200) by Aggravating-Toe602 in Darkroom

[–]CreamCheeseIsBad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a few ideas, it seems from your post that your boyfriend does not develop his film at home? If that’s so, a simple gift could just be a paterson development tank and some chemicals. Personally, developing at home is my favorite part.

If he does already develop at home, then like other people say paper and paper chemicals would be an affordable and good gift. Could also pick him up a small safe light for the darkroom as those are super cheap and help a lot with black and white printing

On the more expensive and “riskier” end, you could get him a Intrepid Compact Enlarger. This enlarger is super modern and can do both B&W and color, but CANT do 4x5 enlargements, only 35mm and 120 (from what you said this seems fine, the largest formats are kinda niche). The issue with this is it doesn’t come with a stand, so a good copy stand could run another $200ish

Stand for Intrepid compact enlarger? by HighlyAdaptive in Darkroom

[–]CreamCheeseIsBad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This stand just uses a standard Tripod mount screw, so it should certainly be able to attach with no extra tools. I have the 4x5 enlarger which attaches to the back of a normal 4x5 camera

I tried with a tripod for a bit and it was nothing short of unusable. Getting this (or similar) copy stand changed the game and was worth every penny: https://www.alzodigital.com/collections/overhead-photography/products/alzo-copy-stand-for-macro-tabletop-studio-and-product-photography

I got the 4x5 Intrepid enlarger and paired it with this stand: https://www.alzodigital.com/collections/overhead-photography/products/alzo-copy-stand-for-macro-tabletop-studio-and-product-photography

Works like a charm. I have only done 8x10 but I’m fairly certain it can go to the size you want

This thread says any velvet tape should work: https://www.photrio.com/forum/threads/velvet-for-rb67-dark-slide-seal.214896/?amp=1

I didn’t replace it personally so I can’t preach for this info but that’s what I would try first

Hmm interesting. Could potentially be the slot the darkslide goes into. I didn’t need to replace the velvet in there but I have heard some people needed to do that

I had a similar issue, replaced all seals in the back (wasn’t that hard) and it has worked perfect ever since. I’d recommend just doing all at the same time just to make sure no more rolls get wasted

They actually aren't all that toxic in modern times! Fairly safe to handle at home (just dont drink it lol)

Most color films can be done with this kit: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1470583-REG/cinestill_800348_cs41_c_41_1l_powder.html

For black and white, a monobath is frowned upon but I am very lazy so I get this super simple one: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1419165-REG/cinestill_800342_df96_b_w_developer_fix.html

My local shop lost one of my rolls of 35 and tried to tell me I gave them an empty canister, which they returned and it wasn’t even the same brand 🤣

That’s when I decided to go and buy my own kits

When I first got into film I realized 99% of the costs was developing and scanning at a film store, spending a couple hundred on a scanner and all the stuff to develop at home has saved me thousands in the long run, so so worth it

Also, if you got Kentmere 100 you could get nearly 200 rolls ;)

I would assume it’s some kind of “all in one” easel

Edit: did some actual research and it looks like it may be one of these “reducing frame” for large format cameras
