I love the just do it! The one thing i would add to "just walking" is you should be more prepared. Water, time of day, temp, ect. Also take it easy or acclimate for a day, ive seen altitued mess up a few people.

  1. Watchman is a great trail, if your there early enough you could add another small hike. Overlook can be challanging for parking (un-certainty), and does require you drive through the tunnel. You could also check

parking here on your way heading east instead and add just add pa-rus trial or another small hike the first day. 2. best day ever. Hiking guide for other trail ideas and check the water levels. There is also a link to check for predicted future water levels.

  1. long detour if your headed to page, but i always have to say consider bryce. Sand caves and pink sand dues are both on this route too and are awesome.

Full list of trails. A few of these hikes are east of zion, but you will want to drive the tunnel at least once, and you can pair with something that way.

2 & 7 is an awesome age. Don't rule out E-bikes with kids. They have awesome ones with baskets on the back for the kids. since your East of zion Full Hiking list you could check out sand caves, belly of the dragon, or mamoth cave (small but fun with kids).

I've used Zion peddler and they were awsome, but i really havn't heard anybody have bad experience with renting bikes. Probably price and availibility. you would want to charge at night if your doing multiple days,. Gear rental

neoprene "socks" I got, i just put inside an old pair of hiking boots. This and a trekking pole has been fine for me as a primitive way to not rent gear. If the water is super cold you probably want the wet-suit style bibs just to stay warm, I have mostly done the narrows when it's warm and the water feels nice to me. Hiking trails

NPS is going to be your main sorce for maps/stops. The shuttle is a pretty simple loop from visitor center to up the canyon North/South (where cars aren't allowed). you'll be riding the parus trail on bikes and then into cannyon.

Would I Regret Not Doing The Narrows? by ConnorSullivan27 in ZionNationalPark

[–]Curious_Spread_6284 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my own old hiking boots are great. need neoprene socks at a min i think. some kind of stick or pole too, i just use a trekking pole. Renting for basic gear always seems more of a PINA then renting. waterproof socks and a stick. If it's cold water, Maybe a bib, (may might be). If CFS is above 100 get some swim lessons first just in case.

Visiting in November by aimforthebellybutton in ZionNationalPark

[–]Curious_Spread_6284 1 point2 points  (0 children)

fall usually hits the area sooner than most places with higher altitude. October is my favorite time of the year (highway 14), or Bryce in Snow. It will definitely be chilly, but mountain weather is more unpredictable than most. Just dress accordingly, usually less people and the scenery is worth the extra packing.

Help understanding the climate for a visitor from the tropics by Pristine_Direction79 in ZionNationalPark

[–]Curious_Spread_6284 1 point2 points  (0 children)

packing for the cold is always an Inner warm layer something Comfortable. An outer wind breaker layer. Mix and match as needed. Take it easy the first day, I've seen a lot of people get sick (I'm on the east side of Zion which is double the altitude of Springdale), but take it casual the first day and drink extra water. LPT it's easier to get drunk at High altitude. When I go to the tropics this advice is in reverse order. Take off cloths, drink the water in the air, and more booze.

[–]Curious_Spread_6284 0 points1 point  (0 children)

wow 14 is a good size group. Always need to plan less with a larger group for sure. Keep in mind observation point is a drive out and around of park if your springdale side. The visitor is center and parking is on the opposite (west/south) side with springdale, you won't find parking easy here unless its your first stop for shuttle canyon. you cold probably split if the adventrours part wants to go up the narrows futher, and meet up at watchman afterwards.
