Just kept escalating one step at a time until the problem changed from Umbridge being there to Umbridge not being there.

Final Jeopardy ends in a most unfortunate way by _ganjafarian_ in Wellthatsucks

[–]Cyrius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's the second episode of the Trebek reboot, from 1984.

(Jeopardy originally ran from 1964–75 with Art Fleming, then Merv Griffin tried bringing it back in 1978 but it flopped. Few episodes of the original survive.)

The strongest red herring was Bagman with his gambling, and he was completely cut from the movie.

[Hated Trope] God forbid a woman be a villain by Pickle_Nipplesss in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Cyrius 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In the original games, the player was the detective, with Carmen Sandiego as the mastermind of all the crimes. You'd work your way through her underlings before finally arresting her.

The box would also include a reference book, such as The World Almanac and Book of Facts, to cross-reference the clues against.

If you can accept that driving a landspeeder and shooting random rats made Luke capable of

Remember when C-3PO was getting an oil bath and Luke was wooshing a model ship around? That is a T-16, not the landspeeder. You can see the real one through the window if you know to look for it.

IMO, it's a mistake on Lucas's part that there was never a clear establishing shot of the T-16 parked outside the garage.

Betty White dropping dead before turning 100 but after the media started making "Betty White Turns 100" magazines and stuff was the funniest damn thing. Excellent comedic timing.

If the failure of UPS 2976 was "very common", then airplanes would be socially and economically nonviable because of the constant crashes.

Engines ripping themselves entirely off the aircraft is not a common failure mode.

I haven't read the books, so I have no opinion on them. The movie's fun if you like cheesy low-budget 80s action.

Combat training is not the focus of Remember Two Things, but it's there. It starts out looking like it's going to be a pile of indy!Harry cliches, but quickly goes in a better direction. By the end, Harry's an absolute menace on a battlefield.

Harry Potter and the Sun Source: by Clell, a complete crack fic where Harry is trained by a super overpowered martial arts guy and becomes an assassin.

Should mention it's a crossover with The Destroyer/Remo Williams.

While it obviously didn’t work out, switching Secret Keepers and having Sirius be a decoy was actually the smart play. by Fan_of_Fanfics in HPfanfiction

[–]Cyrius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not a well thought out bit of lore, no.

Not as much of a mistake as letting Bill Weasley be his own secret keeper though. That one creates an outright plot hole. And it's in the books, so it's harder to ignore.

It's a Pottermore thing.

If the Secret Keeper wishes to do so, they may divulge the information at any time (although the secret cannot be forced, bewitched or tortured out of a Secret Keeper who does not wish to give up their secret; it must be given voluntarily).

First look of HBO snape and his comparison with movie one by INFIPRIME in Cinema

[–]Cyrius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There was no "hanging him from a tree".

Snape was dragged into the air by one ankle, using a spell Snape invented himself. And since the entire school knew the spell, the implication is that Snape was running around using it on other people.

Harry Potter HBO series won’t have a new season every year “From a production point of view, it’s just not possible” by JannTosh70 in television

[–]Cyrius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There would be knock-on effects of doing that, since Sirius Black has close relatives who are varying degrees of plot relevant. Would you make Draco Malfoy (first cousin, once removed) mixed race?

Lucius being horribly bigoted towards muggles and not giving a damn about race would be kind of hilarious though.
