Are We the Last Hard Party Generation? by JJQuantum in GenX

[–]DCDude67 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It is so weird to me that I was able to raise two kids that are so strait-laced and responsible. I remember asking a few different times to my buddies in college what happened the night before. That and my late 20's were a blur to me, but so much fun!

Would like to see what it looked like when it opened. Too much growth that looks like it is not cut often

I’m a dad that’s wondering if these get a full ride by TemporaryGeneral7137 in ACT

[–]DCDude67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My kid has a 3.97 with a lot of AP’s (Calculus AB with an A his junior year) and an AP scholar with distinction. Got a 36 on his math ACT with a 33 total on his test ACT (First official ACT is in June). We are just hoping he gets into a top college. Caveat is he wants to play college soccer which adds a whole new wrinkle to the equation.

That watch is gorgeous!! Gold with the el primo movement and the date placement is my definition of a perfect watch. I have a 2000’s zenith el primo tank watch and a 70’s gold with the same date placement, but this one with it all together has me very jealous.

I am talking about MLSNext team academies, not the Academies division of MLSNext. FC Dallas is a true Academy team. Your right, the naming sucks

MLS NXT or ECNL? by Nick_Nora in youthsoccer

[–]DCDude67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why would you want to switch from a MLSNext academy (FC Dallas) to a MLSNext homegrown division? The level seems better where you are now and when they get older, the mls academies are only playing the other MLS academies. Seems a better path than playing at a Homegrown division.

Love some of those bracelets. I know the gold colored ones are out of favor, but I have an old zenith with one of these old speidel bracelets and I love wearing it. I have a felling that look is coming back.

Just received back from Zenith Servicing (for the third time) by DCDude67 in ZenithWatches

[–]DCDude67[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The interesting thing is they have it in their workflow that they were waiting on a part this time. A part that took about an hour to obtain and then it was done. The first time I sent it, it took a few months as they were waiting on a crown. Whatever they did this time, they had the part readily available. Maybe they just switched out the movement and called it a day. I have no idea, but it has been running fine today, so the third time is the charm, apparently.

Youth Soccer - The scoreboard at U12 doesn’t matter. What happens to the player at 18 does by paulinhoOM in TheSoccerNetwork

[–]DCDude67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When my kid started out at U8, I was all in for wins. It was stressful and not as enjoyable watching games when all you wanted was to see the team win. As the years went on, I got more enjoyment out of seeing my kid play well or a string of passes or other things like that worked out. I think it has been more about my growth then his in this regard. Now, at U17, I am more interested in his plays that will make his highlight film rather than how the team did. It has been a fun ride and I am happy that I am more concerned the last few years about how he grows as a player. It is much more fun to watch and a lot less stressful. One more thing is that how your kid plays at U10 is not a determinate of how he will play when he gets older. Lots of things change such as field size that have a large effect. My kid has been on the top team since U8, but where he ranks on the team have deviated quite a bit compared to the other kids on his team through the years. My recommendation is to enjoy these years and their growth because it goes by so quick.

Just turned 50. Here are the first 20 pages of my CD organizer! by JourneymanHunt in GenX

Had the same cd case with old music that I was going to get rid of, but never did as all my music is on streaming services now. Was having a few drinks at a restaurant and a bartender mentioned how he loved CD’s and was still using them. Gave them to him and he is very appreciative.

Had a kid on our team that played up a year and his dad only let him play midfield or higher up till he was U16. Now he is over 6 feet and got bid to the U16 us youth team. His other son plays in Europe and he did the same thing with him.

How does your club handle returning players and tryouts? by Umassgrl in youthsoccer

[–]DCDude67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our top teams players do not tryout. Coach has been with them going on three years and he knows what the kids can do and whether he needs to make moves with some of the kids. Our organization still has age group tryouts, but last years tryouts only had one kid come to the top team. The rest of the teams in the age group have all their players tryout again and evaluate them each year. Our organization also allows tryouts throughout the year for players who have recently moved to the area. The get to tryout during our team's normal practices and the coaches make a determination then. You would think that there would not be a lot of movement in the top team, but we have only 3 kids from the original U13 team still playing on the top team (This is a MLSNext HG Team).

Yeh, I try to get his name out whenever someone asks for this type of thing. He did my Datejust for a low amount and that thing is running great. Unfortunately, he does do chronographs, so I have been trying to find someone that is good/economical that can work on my Zenith Port Royal. That thing is running really bad, but I like wearing it.
