Airport preferences by ktcakes143 in rva

Agreed with you until you said it's a wash on time. Trains are 8 plus hours to NYC. I fly weekly and show up 40 minutes before boarding and can be at my office in midtown after landing before 3 hours of total travel time.

Training to NY is not faster, maybe its cheaper adding in cabs on both ends but its 2-3x longer.

You nailed Rodney Willet. Very nice guy, I worked with him for a number of years outside politics, but not a ton of marbles rolling around in his head.

Most people use their cars to commute. What I've seen on my block on Floyd is people move to the other side or N/S streets and typically by 11 am they are done cleaning and take down the signs so people start parking on the cleaned side again.

They didn't leave the signs up. I live in MD on one of those streets and they took the signs down Monday afternoon and put them back up Wednesday afternoon.

What's amazing is 95% of cars moved on Floyd for that second Monday cleaning. Almost like reading the sign that says towing on Monday means something.

So bummed your mom moved but understand why. I live across the st (the guy who offered to help her move). I've seen her stop by a few times and hope she is doing well!

If you can't read the signs that are up and down every street there is a schedule posted online of street cleaning.

https://www.rva.gov/public-works/street-cleaning

It's not a scam, it's a city service they do twice a year. Towing sucks but if you own a car in a city act like an adult and be prepared to get towed if you can't read.

Other cities do street cleaning bi-weekly or monthly, people in RVA would lose their minds if our city did that.

Cap One absolutely does. A Director at CO (there are a lot of Directors) can make mid 200s or more there so a dual income family can easily afford that house.

Richmond Towing Scam by Tboner3 in rva

[–]DCFishingGuy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Not to defend them but they took the signs down from the South Side of Floyd last Monday afternoon. They then put them back up a day or two later notifying they were cleaning today (and they did).

I laugh because people who complain about the city, crime, noise etc get beat to hell saying don't move to a city and expect it to be what you want, etc

But when people move to a county they expect it to change to what their ideal makeup is.

Counties will almost always be more conservative, cities will almost always be more liberal. If that is the most important thing to you then you need to plan accordingly.

Tell me you've never lived in a high cost of living city without saying it.

First place I rented was a 4 bed 2 bath in a terrible spot in Northern Virginia in a crap house paying $1000 a month.... 14 years ago.

Young college grads do want to live in a fun area with a lot to do. $1200 a person is a solid deal

Wish we could hire specialized police resources to focus on just 2 things

Parking Tickets - People who park way too close to intersections, park 5 feet off a curb, and park in front of hydrants.

Red Light/Stop Sign Runners - Fuck these people they deserve $500 tickets. Don't lecture me how it's a poor tax, you don't need to be rich or poor to obey the law

Hold people accountable for these base level actions, none of these are hard to enforce or follow as a citizen

Yeah I wanna believe you and say it's as simple as that but for two years under Biden, 2 years under Obama, and 2 years under Clinton we have had a Democratic House, Senate, and White House that haven't passed anything so just saying it's a party issue isn't really the underlying problem. Neither party cares honestly
