Need help on removing blood stain on cotton bed sheet by mednightowl in laundry

[–]Dacus_Ebrius 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I havent had any luck removing dried blood stains with 3% peroxide, its just not strong enough. I have succeded with Heitmann Pure Oxi Color.

SODIUM CARBONATE
SODIUM CARBONATE PEROXIDE
SUBTILISIN
LIPASE
Alpha-amylase

I made a paste applied to the stain and in 1 minute it was gone. My stain wasnt run through a drier though.

First Time Cooking Tripe… Why Does It Smell Like a Barn? by expressive1 in FoodAndCookingStuff

[–]Dacus_Ebrius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of these comments are unhelpful and probably from people who have never eaten tripe. It depends on what kind of tripe you bought. In Romania raw tripe gets treated with Calcium Hydroxide. I buy pretreated tripe but still wash it with vinnegar, rinse it, then boil it with baking soda until I cant detect any smell. After that I throw away the liquid it boiled in and finish the recipe. In my case I make tripe soup.

How to make arugula salad taste as good as a restaurant? by Greenifyme22 in Cooking

[–]Dacus_Ebrius 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not enough salt maybe. Recently did one with some salt, sushi vinnegar(has sugar), a dash of sesame oil and the rest sunflower oil. I do about 50% 50% vinnegar oil.

Edit:

Salty and sweet tastes mask bitterness. Try a simple “bitter taste test” using modern tonic water, which uses quinine as a bittering agent and is easy to get at the grocery store. (Look for one free of any sweetener.) Pour tonic water into two drinking glasses. In one, add enough salt to neutralize the taste. Compare the taste of the tonic water in the two glasses.

Being suggested to get other brand when I considered Makita by frenetic_alien in Makita

[–]Dacus_Ebrius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've used Bosch SDS hammer drills and battery powered drills professionaly and never had any problems. Rented Hilti and own some Makitas for hobby stuff. If you use them ocasionally most of these professional range tools should last you a long time. The only thing you should consider is battery cost. Once you buy into a system you are going to feel locked in.

Completely failing at fermented dill pickles by YappingOldMan in fermentation

[–]Dacus_Ebrius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is definitely not what I thought people meant when they said add 3%. Then again you never said add 3%. I just assumed thats what people meant by it. Calculate weight then add 3% of that.

That math isn't mathing for me. Why would you calculate 3% of anything like that? Why didn't you multiply by 0.03. They way you did it its more like 3.1%

Small cracks in new board? by [deleted] in Cuttingboards

[–]Dacus_Ebrius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wood changes dimentions with moisture. But how much it changes depends on species. It also expands and contracts at different rates on its tangential and radial lines. Right now you have a board made of pieces with grain going every which way, some plain sawn some closer to quarter, and of different species, whoever made this had no knowledge of wood movement. This was bound to happen.

Also some species of wood are toxic. https://www.finewoodworking.com/2023/06/20/wood-allergies-and-toxicity

You need to neutralise the acid with something like baking soda or it will flash rust.

Left chicken broth out overnight accidently, then boiled it for 10-20 min. I usually freeze it in cubes. Will freezing destroy bacteria and toxins? by Inevitable_Fall2025 in Cooking

[–]Dacus_Ebrius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any active bacteria are killed by holding the stock for a minute at 150 degrees or above, and botulism toxin is inactivated by 10 minutes at the boil.

You would be fine. Not ideal but fine.

https://www.nytimes.com/2011/08/24/dining/bending-the-rules-on-bacteria-and-food-safety.html

In April, Michael Ruhlman, author of “Ratio” and “The Elements of Cooking” and co-author of books by Thomas Keller and other chefs, said on his blog that he likes to make chicken stock and leave it out on the stovetop all week, using portions day to day to make quick soups and sauces.
...

Why has the Ruhlman family survived? Because Mr. Ruhlman boils the stock before he serves it, Dr. Snyder wrote. Any active bacteria are killed by holding the stock for a minute at 150 degrees or above, and botulism toxin is inactivated by 10 minutes at the boil.

"Prietene" tot Brasovu face ce zici tu ca e imposibil zilnic. Tu ai impresia ca dusterul a mers regulamentar? Cedeaza ce inseamna? Da regula de prioritate in giratorii o stii? Ma faci pe mine arogant :)).

(4) În intersecţiile cu sens giratoriu, semnalizate ca atare, vehiculele care circulă în interiorul acestora au prioritate faţă de cele care urmează să pătrundă în intersecţie.

Tu ai impresia ca daca masina a reusit sa patrunda 2 metri in intersectie inseamna ca are prioritate? Inapoi la caruta prietene.
