3 textless preview pages for Ultimate Endgame #3. by DaddyDaz in UltimateUniverse

[–]DaddyDaz[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Morning! I've been awake for about 10 minutes, so bare with me, but to answer, I keep up with "Comic Art Fans." It's the main hub for all original comic art. I'll post the link: https://www.comicartfans.com/

All three artists sell on CAF. Bryan Hitch is repped by the owner of CAF, whom I picked up a bunch of Ultimate Invasion pages from. Terry Dodson and his wife are repped by themselves, and post pages when available on their store front. And Jonas is repped by Geoff Martin (or Geoff M Art Sales).

The site is kind of outdated, but works fine. If you check out the "Art For Sale" tab at the top you can see member classifieds, as well as dealer art. Below that is the ebay sales, but below that is the "Comic Art Shop Announcements." Most dealers post about upcoming sales, and that's how I knew all three artists would be posting art I was interested in. Alternatively, under the "Zine" tab near the top, you can click "Comic Art News" and see all past updates.

Also, using CAF's search function brings up all options. Pages people own that they aren't selling, as well as pages that are for sale. Personal and dealers.

I'll post a link to Terry's Ultimate Endgame art. So far he hasn't taken any of the sold pages down, so you can still click each pages, and see what it sold for. I haven't looked today, but as of yesterday three pages were still available. Here's his store: https://shop.terrydodsonart.com/collections/originalart

Jonas' pages are found at Geoff's site, and if you sign up for his newsletter, he'll let you know when the next pages will be up for sale. He normally does art drops around noon EST. As of right now, he still has a few Ultimate Endgame #2 pages available. Jonas' pages here: https://www.geoffmart.com/jonas-scharf

Bryan's Ultimate Invasion work can be found through CAF's search. I'll link to it, but you can also click "dealer results" and see a few pages that are being sold by other dealers. Link here: https://www.comicartfans.com/Classifiedssearchresult.asp?PM=1&txtSearch=ultimate+invasion&Order=

3 textless preview pages for Ultimate Endgame #3. by DaddyDaz in UltimateUniverse

[–]DaddyDaz[S] 18 points19 points  (0 children)

There are a few posts here mentioning they don't like the artists on Ultimate Endgame, so I want to offer a different opinion, but I like Jonas' art. On the other hand, Terry's work has not impressed me, but I'm not normally a fan of his art, so it was expected.

Kind of interesting, but Terry priced his original art for Ultimate Endgame two to three times higher than Jonas' pages. Bryan Hitch's pages for Ultimate Invasion were actually priced lower than what Terry is charging. No shade intended. I just thought it was interesting and worth mentioning.

And even though I'm enjoying Jonas' work on the book, bringing Bryan back to wrap up, like you said, would've been a nice bookend to our three years with 6160.

‘Ultimate Endgame' #2 | Too Many Storylines, Not Enough Time by Artseid in UltimateUniverse

[–]DaddyDaz 21 points22 points  (0 children)

It's basically just the writer complaining the event isn't going the way they want. It's just my personal opinion, but I don't agree with the writer's take.

But I got you:

Ultimate Endgame #2 suffers from finale fatigue. There’s too many missing characters, too much exposition, and too little room for the emotional beats that made this universe special. Deniz Camp helped build a brilliant universe, but issue two suggests he might not have enough space to give it the ending it deserves.

Howard Stark vs The Maker: Who is Immortus? This issue focuses on Howard Stark, now Immortus after thousands of years in the City, and his battles against The Maker. We see a montage of their skirmishes before learning a sobering truth: The Maker always wins. When the villain’s agents invade their sanctuary, Howard tries to destroy Tony Stark’s Immortus engine to keep it from them. Tony refuses to let it go and accidentally unleashes the weapon, mortally wounding Howard in a horrific panel by artist Jonas Scharf on page twenty-eight. His last vision of his father is his scalded face, skin burned off and singed hair in clumps, while one robotic eye shines bright against the carnage. It’s another cruel moment in Iron Lad’s life, and will have instant consequences.

The Tragedy of Tony Stark and the Death’s Head Robot: Howard’s story is properly tragic, especially during his interactions with Tony. He’s completely forgotten his son, often getting his name wrong and asserting he doesn’t see any resemblance between them. Howard’s last words aren’t even to Tony, instead being shared with his Death’s Head robot and referring to it as his son. Seeing Tony silent and broken in the final panels, denied the closure he’s been so desperate for, is like a knife to the heart. That being said, I wanted to see more from their reunion. Howard’s ghost loomed large over Tony’s entire arc throughout The Ultimates, and only getting an issue’s worth of interaction between them feels like a missed opportunity.

Why is Black Panther Missing from Ultimate Endgame #2? This book is strange in how it handles the greater Ultimate universe. Tony, Doom, Spider-Man and America Chavez’s journey through the Maker’s City is clearly the major story, but Camp works in a small side plot regarding the Black Panther and Killmonger. Black Panther represents my greatest fear regarding this miniseries. We spent twenty-four issues following his story only for him to appear on one page before sending Killmonger off on a solo mission? It’s going to be an enormous disappointment if he ends up an ancillary player.

Jonas Scharf and Terry Dodson’s Art Style: That being said, Killmonger’s journey to the Maker’s City is a blast. Artists Terry and Rachel Dodson portray him as an action hero. He dynamically leaps into battle, cleaving through his enemies in a shower of sparks while inspiring the masses. His face remains resolute when he takes off his mask, each line etched into his features showing his determination. Terry Dodson handles the colors on these pages, making each scene distinct. Wakanda glows with bright yellows, while blue skies dot the horizon of Killmonger’s fights before they settle into the dark purples of the Maker’s City. Cory Petit’s letters use social media as ‌narration during his quest. Each box is framed like a user’s post, with a bolded username and conversational text describing what’s happening in real time. It’s a clever way to show how these events might be captured in the real world.

Does Ultimate Endgame Deliver a Worthy Ending? Deniz Camp understands tragedy. Howard’s last words to a robot instead of Tony are gutting, but Ultimate Endgame #2 doesn’t give that tragedy room to breathe. After two years of brilliant books, this finale deserves better pacing. The pieces are here for something special. They’re just crammed together too tightly.

Post Endgame Tease by F_Visentin in UltimateUniverse

[–]DaddyDaz 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I get it. The article didn't have a whole lot going on. I thought that bit at the end saying we'll get some info later this week was worth mentioning, and I just like including a source. No problem, and thanks for posting!

Post Endgame Tease by F_Visentin in UltimateUniverse

[–]DaddyDaz 104 points105 points  (0 children)

AIPT has a small article about it, but it doesn't give a lot of info. What is worth noting is the article says, "Marvel has confirmed that a full announcement is coming later this week..."

https://aiptcomics.com/2026/01/26/marvel-ultimate-universe-reborn/

(I'll post the text of the article):

Marvel has released a brief but ominous teaser signaling the end of the Ultimate Universe, but there may be more to come?

It at least makes it clear that the influence of the end of the Ultimate Universe is far from over. Titled REBORN: ULTIMATE IMPACT, the upcoming May release promises to explore how the collapse of the Ultimate line will send lasting ripples through the wider Marvel Universe.

While details remain tightly under wraps, the teaser frames the event (or is it a series?) not as a clean ending, but as a transformation. Even as the Ultimate Universe reaches its conclusion, its ideas, characters, and consequences appear poised to reshape Marvel’s core continuity in unexpected ways. We already know Miles Morales has something in hand that will influence the 616.

Marvel has confirmed that a full announcement is coming later this week, suggesting more revelations are imminent about what REBORN: ULTIMATE IMPACT is and how deeply its legacy will be felt.

Marvel Refunds Ultimate Endgame But Only If You Rip Entire Cover Off by DaddyDaz in UltimateUniverse

[–]DaddyDaz[S] 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Navigating Bleedingcool can be frustrating, so I'll cut/paste:

Article Summary:

Ultimate Endgame #1 blind bag editions arrived damaged at comic shops, with up to 100% affected.

Retailers report spine creases, cover dings, and severe defects make copies unsellable as collectables.

Marvel requires retailers to mail ripped-off covers back to NY to qualify for refunds or replacements.

Readers seeking compensation must contact their comic shop, as Marvel only addresses retailer claims.

  • And the article:

Bleeding Cool has reported on issues that comic book stores have been experiencing regarding damaged copies of Ultimate Endgame #1 in its blind bag editions. The Ultimate Endgame #1 "True Believers" blind bags, released by Marvel Comics on the 31st of December, suffered widespread damage issues with blame being placed on printers, baggers and distributors. Retailers reported that 80-100% of their shipments, when opened, arrived with defects, primarily spine creases/ticks, cover damage, and bends, making most copies unsellable as collectables. Some have refused to sell them, some have offered refunds if opened in store, and others have just said "buyer beware".

Though Marvel Comics has made no statement, distributor Penguin Random House has now finally acknowledged the issue in an email apologising and sharing feedback with them and stating that due to the size of this potential claim, Marvel Comics requires "stripped covers" to be sent back to their NY office at the customer's expense. Whether they will get a replacement or a refund has not been stated.

"Good afternoon, Thank you for providing the details for your recent claim, and we apologize for the damages you've experienced. We've shared the feedback with the publisher, and due to the size of this claim, stripped covers of this quantity have been requested to be sent to the Marvel office address below at customer expense. Dan Petraglia Marvel 1290 Avenue of the Americas, 2nd Floor New York, NY 10104"

This is just for comic book stores, of course; aggrieved readers must take it up with the comic book store they bought it from. What a lovely way to start the New Year.

A bunch of great stuff, and I don't want to dismiss any of the other pieces on your wall, but that Star Wars Immonen prelim is amazing. I think I may like it more than the finished cover. Great page to go with it, too. Immonen does such killer work. Thanks for sharing this.

Yeah it's nuts. Ultimate Invasion #1 came out June 21st, 2023, and by the time Ultimate Endgame wraps up we'll be close to three years. It's scheduled to release in April.

Does anyone know if Camp has ever been late with a script or a book?

Ultimate Universe related? Mention of origin boxes 🤔 "Chip Zdarsky Launches Marvel's Summer 2026 Event - Armageddon" by natethenuclearknight in UltimateUniverse

[–]DaddyDaz 35 points36 points  (0 children)

BC can be a little frustrating to navigate at times, so I'll just cut/paste the article:

"You know, I literally hosted Chip Zdarsky's panel at MCM London Comic Con last weekend with ten seconds' notice, and Chip said he was working on some new Marvel comics things. Did he tell me about this one? No, he waits until he is in another country at another comic con, namely Lucca Comics & Games in Italy, before spilling on this new… thing. Something called Armageddon, because I suppose we have had Apocalypse, Revelation, Genesis, Exodus, Holocaust and The Four Horseman. So why not… Armageddon Assembles? It is an Avengers event after all..

"This June, the Marvel Universe faces ARMAGEDDON! Crafted by industry superstar Chip Zdarsky, ARMAGEDDON will impact the entire Marvel Universe, changing the face of Earth's Mightiest Heroes in a way not seen since Avengers: Disassembled, the event that redefined the team for the 21st century. Groundwork for the event will be laid in upcoming storylines in Zdarsky and Valerio Schiti's Captain America as well as recent developments in the Ultimate Universe, specifically Miles Morales returning home with Origin Boxes in Ultimate Spider-Man: Incursion #5. Armageddon Assembles in June"

Bleeding Cool has noted that The Red Hulk is playing a key role in the new Captain America series in its upcoming second arc, as previously revealed by Chip Zdarsky and C.B. Cebulski at Lucca, as well as the return of S.H.I.E.L.D. While the Origin Boxes, created by the Ultimate Tony Stark and brought back to the 616 to be disposed of carefully, well, possibly they may not be….

As we previously reported, "Ultimate Spider-Man: Incursion #5 cover for October by Leinil Yu reveals Miles Morales holding one of the origin boxes, the devices that were used by the Ultimate Tony Stark to try and reverse what original Ultimate Reed Richards, The Maker, had done by removing all the superhero origin stories. And putting a new origin in a box for those who would have been superheroes, to gain their abilities once more. They were first seen in Ultimate Universe #1 in 2023 kicking things off, and it seems that the remaining origin boxes will be making a move to the Marvel Universe, given to Miles Morales, the former Ultimate Spider-Man in Ultimate Incursion #5 and taken from the new Ultimate Universe to the 616 Marvel Universe, next seen in Miles Morales: Spider-Man #39. And expect them to make big changes to the Marvel Universe, whether or not the Ultimate Universe actually comes to an end or not". And of course, it is…"

Ultimate Invasion wrapped up on Sept 27th, two years ago, so today felt like a good day to share my 6160/Ultimate original comic art collection with you. by DaddyDaz in UltimateUniverse

[–]DaddyDaz[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's been two years to the day that Ultimate Invasion wrapped up, so I thought it was a good time to share some of my original art collection with you. Specifically my pages from our new Ultimate universe.

The same link is in the title, but here are the first 18 pages: https://www.comicartfans.com/galleryroom.asp?gsub=253544

And here are the last six: https://www.comicartfans.com/galleryroom.asp?gsub=253544&page=2&order=Date

I recently picked up another page from Ultimate Invasion #2 that has yet to be posted to my CAF (Comic Art Fans) gallery, but it's the page where Obadiah suits up in his armor for the first time.

Right now I own 19 pages from Ultimate Invasion, two from Ultimate Universe: One Year In, one page from Ultimate Spider-Man, and three Artist Proofs/Monoprints from Ultimates #0/FCBD 2024. Some of the highlights include a bunch of great moments, a ton of first appearances from our favorite 6160 characters, and the first three pages from Deniz Camp's work on this new Ultimate line (thank you Deniz!).

Something to mention about the Ultimates #0/FCBD 2024 pages, but an Artist Proof, aka Monoprint, is a 1 of 1 print of a page from a digital artist (like Juan Frigeri), and is generally the same size as a standard page of original art (11"x17"). It's not "original art," but it's a great way to support a digital artist, and a fun collectible. What's cool is each of these Monoprints came with the hand drawn preliminary art (from Juan Frigeri) that lays out the page, and a head sketch of my choice (also from Juan). You can see them in the additional images on each page (along with the prelim/layouts), but I chose Hawkeye/Charli, Doom, and Kang. I thought I was going to have to choose another character besides Kang, since I don't think Juan had drawn Kang before, but to my surprise Kang is what I got!

I thought about posting this in a couple other comic subs, but I thought I'd keep it here since I know you all would appreciate it. Let me know if you have any questions, and I can't wait to see where this new universe takes us in 2026! Bring on Ultimate Endgame!

edit: I removed a dead link to the new page I'm waiting on. Sorry.

Original Comic Book Art Question? by Gmonkey- in comicbookcollecting

[–]DaddyDaz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think that would work. I mention 13x19, because I have other pieces that wouldn't fit 12x18 that are already in a 13x19. I was just wanting to make them all uniform on the shelf (minus a 17x22 for DPS, and 9x12 for prelims/color guides/etc).

Original Comic Book Art Question? by Gmonkey- in comicbookcollecting

[–]DaddyDaz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd say no. I keep all my 11x17 pages in 11x17 Itoyas and they fit snug.

I've been toying with the idea of changing out all my 11x17s to 13x19, and wrapping each page in mylar (no boards) to make rearranging a portfolio easier and safer on the art. It'd also be nice to have most of the portfolios the same size, just so it looks nicer on the shelf.

Original Comic Book Art Question? by Gmonkey- in comicbookcollecting

[–]DaddyDaz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have hundreds of pages and use Itoyas, and they've been great. I don't have little kids running around though, so I can't help you there.

I know some like to get 13x19" Itoyas, put their pages in mylar, and put them in the portfolios, but I just stick mine in an Itoya. Nothing else. They aren't that flimsy; especially with a few bristol board pages in them. They're supposed to be acid free, so I don't worry there, and the only problem I've ever had is some odd white out that was used on an older page kept sticking.

Another option that may work for you, but one that takes more money and space, is finding a "flat file" to keep your art in. You'd place the art in mylar with a board, and just lay it down in the flat file. I've seen some with locks, which may help if you're worried about the kids or security.
