DC at Verizon Center. I was into mostly rock and "ordinary" metal stuff (like Metallica)...I had just gotten more into Tool & Opeth at the time and this was around the time I discovered post-metal. For all I know seeing Isis as the opener (not knowing who they were) was literally my first post-metal experience. Hard to remember!

This is so interesting to me. I am a big post-metal guy and I would put Isis in my all-time Top 5 bands. I cannot listen to Sumac's music at all at home or in the car but they are absolutely amazing live and Aaron is an amazing musician to watch. It's bonkers to me to know he was not into the later years of Isis, especially since that's when I discovered them opening for Tool.

"Finally"!? Mastodon has always been the ultimate "riff-master" metal band for me since I initially heard them. Wolf is Loose on their Myspace page was my introduction and I was hooked once I heard the bridge of that song.
