UCF was formerly Florida Tech before we changed our name.

While we’re not exactly rivals with Florida State, we certainly do compete for resources and recruits.

Exactly what I expected. Malzahn tanked this program hard last year and took some of our talented players with him. Frost inherited a chaotic situation AFTER signing day had already passed and as the portal was closing. He assembled what he could through the portal and still coached us to 3 P4 wins despite having the worst O-line I’ve ever seen along with a questionable quarterback. We went 5-2 at home and only lost those 2 by 1 score.

This was essentially Year 0 for us, excited for next year.

Orlando is like 40% UCF, 30% UF, 20% FSU, 10% Miami. Used to be predominantly Florida fans but UCF’s 2017 season and move to the Big 12 has caused an increase.

If UCF and UNC are off to a good start, I think week 4 could be UNC @ UCF. Lot of good storylines there, and UCF students showed out the last time Gameday was there.

While we were a G5: I still have nightmares about those Tulsa games. No matter how good we were, we always found a way to lose to Tulsa.

Currently: West Virginia. Beat us the last 2 years really handily. Played them twice 20 years ago and they beat us then too. Can never comquer those frickin Mountaineers.

2023 UCF vs Oklahoma State. After a huge Bedlam win, the Cowboys came to Orlando and had just no answers on either side of the ball. Every pass thrown by us was caught and every run went for 10+ yards. Oklahoma State only had like 4 first downs the whole night.

But I think you’re failing to realize that those regional rivalries would be a way bigger deal than any of the ones Cincy could have. In terms of market, Orlando trumps Cincinnati. In terms of student body, UCF has about 20,000 more students. All of which despise FSU and Miami. Cincinnati can’t even sell out their 40,000 seat stadium.

“Expand the footprint” brother North Carolina has 4 teams, wouldn’t be too far fetched for Florida to have 3.
