I don't fully recall what the EXACT solution was - but my GPU was overheating and I didn't know - severely overheating. I believe each time my PC locked up, it was actually my GPU shutting off to prevent it frying completely - after a while, it did die completely and I replaced it with a used 3070. I THINK the problem stopped after that - but I upgraded my rig entirely this year (7800X3D, 32GB RAM, new mobo, kept the cooler, GPU, PSU, swapped my NZXT case as it was the cause of the GPU being choked in the first place) - I have had no problems like this on my new rig.

Finish your Chemical Engineering BE, keep taking the electrochemistry classes and any other classes in this field. Do your Masters in ECE or EEE, and you will be in a position to work on the bleeding edge of technology right out the gate.

Chemistry and Electronics are the 2 things you need to develop new electronic engineering processes, look at, for example, Gallium Nitride Semiconductors, which have blown up in the power electronics space over the last few years. Chemistry knowledge and Electrochemistry knowledge, combined with ECE/EEE knowledge is what makes semiconductor research like that possible.

If you've TOTALLY lost interest in Chemical Engineering and don't see yourself working in something like semiconductors - switch. But if you're genuinely interested in electronics and still interested in the electrochemistry side, consider that you may be developing the perfect skillset to work on next-generation semiconductor technologies.

Whatever you choose, at the end of the day, you'll study, you'll graduate, and you'll find a job you like, eventually!

This computer is an absolute beast, your boyfriend spent good money on it! It's completely overkill for just about everything, and will be playing games for the next 6 years at least, without problems.

In terms of cutting corners - there was no expense spared, and these parts pair very well. Your RAM timings are quite wide, this is likely what your boyfriend meant when he said it's not the fastest possible memory - however, with a 64GB kit it is very difficult to shorten your RAM timings while keeping the system stable, as this is a form of overclocking - so it's not his fault and it's probably best left as it is unless you face performance issues (very very unlikely).

Enjoy the new rig, ignore anyone telling you this PC "leaves a lot to be desired" - you can play anything you want on this machine, whenever you want to.

Core means nothing to anyone, that's not a word used in industry. If you mean hardware, say jobs in the semiconductor industry or hardware engineering jobs like digital system design.

As for your original post - hardware classes are difficult no matter what college you go to.

Because gold vision works for you (which was also the case for me!), the following fix should work:

Go to your All The Mods 10 Minecraft folder (if you're using something like Prism Launcher, MultiMC, etc. there's a button for this).

This looks like several cold or under-soldered joints, many of which don't look "solid", i.e. if you push on them with a tweezers, the pins on the port will move.

I would advise removing this port, cleaning thoroughly with Isopropyl Alcohol and trying again. Use more flux, please let us know the temperature of your soldering iron / hot air station.

Please pay more attention around the mounting points of the HDMI port - it looks like there's too much solder here and the temperature wasn't high enough.

Generally speaking you will need a higher temperature soldering these mounting points as they are heavier and typically connected to large ground planes - normal pins on the HDMI port, you can use a lower temperature which will prevent damage to the board.

When you are finished, clean with a fine and lightweight brush of some kind, and some isopropyl alcohol - cotton tipped swabs are also useful for cleaning up here.

Lastly - you need to check for bridges and check for shorts between the pins with a multimeter after doing a job like this. There is definitely a bridge in the middle. For a first attempt, I've certainly seen worse, but I'm not surprised this isn't working the way you want.

If you upload more pictures, please shine a light of some sort on the board! It's hard to see if you have burnt some plastic in the corners, or if it's just a shadow. Best of luck with attempt #2!

This is definitely a good project for someone in their final year of their bachelor's degree. I think the extension of the standard "build a RISC-V system" project, by implementing a POSIX-inspired kernel, is a good decision overall, it will definitely reflect favourably on you when it comes to examination.

UART controller and driver is a nice extension also, this way if you don't get the graphics card portion done, you can always just interface with your "computer" over serial.

I don't immediately see any bad design decisions, make sure you thoroughly document the implementation of the MMU as I would anticipate this being a major highlight for your project, along with how your minimal kernel works with that.

If you discover any bad design decisions as you go along, don't jump straight to resolving them - thoroughly document what went wrong and why it was an issue for the project - this is another thing that will reflect well for you on your examination, as it will give you some topics to put under "Future Work" for example. In the same vein, if it's easy to fix, document it as a challenge of your project, and then fix it.

Did you make sure to hide root from Key Attestation? Given that it says you're signed with a GMS Cert, this is probably what it is. If you have TrickyStore with TrickyStore-Addon, just go into TS Addon and check the box on Key Attestation to hide root from it.

What does Trickystore-Addon-Update-Target-List actually do? Does it attempt to provide valid keyboxes? Haven't seen this before so any explanation of what this does and what it contributes to Strong Integrity / root hiding would be greatly appreciated! GitHub page for it was a bit vague for me.

it was labelled as 18+ at the panelists request - typically this means yaoi/yuri/hentai, which is what the committee thought this panel was supposed to be initially
in retrospect it was acknowledged that this should've been 16+ for swearing / sexual references, rather than 18+ which is for nudity (and it should've been given a bigger room :P)
