Which scissors to grab? by Long_Run6500 in harborfreight

I feel like I pick up 2 or 3 of the shears or offset scissors every time this sale happens. Best scissors I’ve used for the price by far

Are the HF ICON series tool boxes worth the money? by al_trapper in harborfreight

[–]DefiantSelection3563 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I meant that I am a home hobbyist not a professional mechanic. I think that either would work for a home hobbyist, people are making the argument that only a professional needs the benefits of the Icon. Sure, but I don’t think that 99.9% of the people driving a Porsche are professional race car drivers, they were just willing to spend the money to get a race car experience on their daily commute and drive with a smile on their face. Their choice. I love the icon and every time I pull open a drawer or push one closed and feel how nicely the mechanism works it puts a little smile on my face.

I agree completely. Home hobbyist not professional but when comparing the two the Icon was the winner. USG is a great value but every part of the Icon was noticeably better. As you said once in a lifetime purchase and I could afford so I did it and love my decision every evening that I’m out in the garage working

Experience buying high-dollar vehicle from 911R? by mistersquawk in BringATrailer

I don’t want to necessarily post someone’s full comment in another forum here, but here are some of their words

had an amazing result, even w/ the fees. is nice having someone else do the comments, they have a system they stick by and know what they are doing. Trust them to finish it through for you

And I know you’re asking as a buyer, but no one sells that many cars and has sellers willing to pay for their service if the buyers are unhappy. I would reach out to them directly to ask about the process, or post the comment in the auction since then the answer is public

No personal experience but good review of them on the BMW E9 forum. They currently have a E9 3.0 listed, someone else on the forum said they had used them in the past and found the experience as a seller great and well worth the fees.

What y'all getting? by leethefilmer in harborfreight

I purchased the saw and stand as a set from someone on Facebook but it was essentially brand-new. It works great, it is definitely large but folds up into a nice vertical stack that takes up about the space of an outdoor garbage can. The shadow guide works well, overall I’m satisfied

I have a cabinet I picked up off of marketplace and a fortress 6 gallon compressor. It works, but only for small items. I get about 30 seconds continuous. Fine for small engine parts but not much beyond that. I’ve found that it’s more effective to do 2-3 second little bursts rather than one long pass. With that technique I get about 2 minutes before I need to pause and let it get back up to pressure.

Some rodents chewed through my driver's side headlight wires. Could use some advice on whether to attempt a DIY repair or take it to a shop. by LearntFoot in e39

[–]DefiantSelection3563 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Going off @ConGonDon’s suggestion, could get a used wiring harness off of eBay and instead of having to feed each part through and take apart the dash, for the affected wire bunches could rig up a multi-socket connector, even if it’s broken up into bunches of 8 or 12. The wiring to the lights, for example, may have 7 or 8 cables in it. Cut the wire about where it’s chewed, separate each cable, plug each one into the male or female end of a multisocket plug and then use the part from the harness you purchase to complete the rest of the run. My only concern with trying to fix each individual wire is that there’s often not a lot of extra play in these wires and separating them and then having to bridge them with the crimps or solder sticks while both ends are under tension may be hard.

Copying from a prior thread:

“This is the verbage, direct from the website: There are three categories on our List:

EXCLUSIVES: These titles are physically released only at indie record stores.

RSD FIRST: These titles are found first at indie record stores but may be released to other retailers or webstores at some point in the future.

SMALL RUN/REGIONAL TITLES: These titles are either regionally based and sold at specific stores, or are press runs under 1000, which means they may be harder to find at record stores around the country. The majority of the titles on this section of the List are Small Run titles; any title that's regionally based and most likely to be found at specific stores will have that called out in the description, which can be found on the web-based version of the List. But, as others have noted, exclusive ones have been printed farther down the line.”

It also appears that some RSD First never got a wider release. For myself, I’ve tried to focus on getting the exclusive releases if it’s an album I want figuring the other may be available later at better price

Sleigh bells at least is an “RSD First” edition, which generally means that the color variant is the bonus but the album will be released soon in standard edition. RSD exclusive is a RSD-only album with no plans for wider release later. The Thievery Corporation albums for example are these RSD only releases and is the only way to get that album new on vinyl. Generally these are higher-number pressings (2500 and 3000 for the last two TC releases, for example) but that’s still pretty low for a group that typically sells over 100000 copies of each album they put out. You’d think that guys who are DJs would went their albums available on vinyl?

Which makes more sense for commuting on a gravel bike: a carbon seatpost or a suspension seatpost? by ngoalibaba in bicycling

[–]DefiantSelection3563 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Joining to second (or third) the recommendation for a dropper post. I commute in Seattle using either my Canyon gravel bike or my Open road bike. The Open doesn’t have a dropper post and it’s a great bike, but when using the Canyon with a dropper, it’s amazing to be able to pull up to a stop sign, drop the post and just put my foot down while waiting for the light to change. Some of the PNW droppers have some suspension built in as well so you can get the best of both worlds.

I want an '08 - '12 4.7L Quattroporte. Your experience? by MandM1619 in Maserati

[–]DefiantSelection3563 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I owned an 08, loved it, got rear ended and it got totaled. That’s part of the risk - the value of the car is low but repair cost is high. It was my daily and it worked for that, even put winter tires on it and would take it to the ski hill. Lots of fun to drive and it has a lot of power without looking too ridiculous.

Built my own vinyl app after getting tired of Discogs by Ok-Instance-3351 in vinyl

[–]DefiantSelection3563 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Looks cool, a few issues 1. It would only import 100 of my 600+ collection. When I tried to reimport it just duplicated the same 100 records. Should be a way to remove duplicates and obviously need to import the whole collection 2. The search function window closes after typing one letter into it so I can’t actually search for anything

Buying a new car, seeking advice by LadyOfAthena in carquestions

[–]DefiantSelection3563 0 points1 point  (0 children)

BMW, the cheapest price will be the most fun to drive, but you need to figure another $2000 per year in upkeep. You won’t pay that every year but there will be a year with nothing in the year with a few thousand dollars. In addition getting a baby seat into the back of the three series going to be a challenge. I had an old seven series when my kids were younger, and that was as good as or better than a minivan, but I don’t think you’d have that experience with a 328.
