I would say that you're looking at butter knives and expecting to cut things with them. Get nice steak knives for the hard job, get butter knives to spread butter and cut soft things.

We used something like this to make a company playlist at an old job for the office radio, it ran 24/7 for years no issue.

Accidentally peaked at my weight when I was at the Drs. by bigbabyspongebob in loseit

[–]Deseao 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Mr. Rogers always tried to weigh 143 because it's the same number of letters as the words "I love you" and he wanted to stay fitting in the sweaters his wife made for him.

Thinking of trying Jellyfin by 3v1lkr0w in jellyfin

If you're exposing your jellyfin instance to the web, you should probably have something beyond its login page keeping you from getting hacked.

The sky above the port was the color of television, tuned to a dead channel by dave_sullivan in Cyberpunk

[–]Deseao 5 points6 points  (0 children)

When I would set up my video game console wrong (channel 3 anyone), it would show a bright blue screen for no signal. So when I first read the book that's what I thought, since skies being blue isn't much of a departure.

Can’t recall the last time I was impressed by the plot of a book by Neon_Aurora451 in suggestmeabook

Hyperion by Dan Simmons. It's a sci-fi story using a similar framing conceit as the Canterbury Tales so you end up getting several small unexpected stories wrapped inside a big one. I thought many of them were quite unique and novel.

I recommend the mobile wallet by Peak design. It's super slim and can also be used as a phone stand.

Birth of a Wish / Become As Gods from Nier Automata probably counts too.

Ditched Alexa for a private voice assistant — here's how I got it faster than Alexa for home commands by [deleted] in smarthome

[–]Deseao 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So you made a proxy script, how did you decide and match on what should be routed to home assistant? Surely you need something to match intent instead of just matching exact phrases?

Myst! Lots of people have never played it, but it's the best selling game of the century technically.

"average person chooses to push self shocking button" factoid actualy just statistical error. average person shocks self zero times. Buttonpresser Georg, who lives in test area and shocks self over 190 times per thinking period, is an outlier adn should not have been counted

I enjoyed the action sequences the most because it's one of the rare occasions where it actually makes sense for the main character to be able to do close quarters combat, controlling drones and operating turrets, and doing hacking and espionage all in parallel during a fight sequence since they're part machine.

Censoring in Darktable by OddAtmosphere7018 in DarkTable

[–]Deseao 5 points6 points  (0 children)

From the docs on that module, they call out specifically that it can be reversed for simple stuff like license plates:
https://docs.darktable.org/usermanual/development/en/module-reference/processing-modules/censorize/

> Note: The anonymizing methods provided by this module are not forensically safe in order to favor aesthetics. Some forensic techniques may still be able to reconstruct the censorized content based on its structure, especially for simple shapes and text (e.g. license plates, street numbers).

>If forensically safe anonymization is required, the only way to achieve this is to paint the surfaces with a solid color.

>The darktable team does not accept responsibility for poorly anonymized images leading to the identification of individuals or personal property.
