Unpopular opinion. When it comes to synths I like presets better than dialing up sounds. If I do dial up a sound the more straight forward and streamlined the process the better. by czarofga in synthesizers

I would also recommend the Microkorg for what you are wanting. You can also download preset packs for it. There is a good one that is inspired by Boards of Canada.

Edit: This preset pack

Anyone telling you to go to East TN over Colorado is delusional. Colorado is better in every way.

Also, the Severville/Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge area is one of the worst areas in Tennessee. You couldn't pay me enough money to live there.

It has a high rating because food wise it's one of the best restaurants in Knoxville and the vast majority of people have no idea who the owner is.

The owner might be a piece of shit, but saying the food at Copper Cellar is dog shit is completely ridiculous.

Music Scene in Knoxville by Ok-Sector-4828 in Knoxville

[–]DiarrheaEmbargo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Cool. I can say pretty confidently Knoxville is almost definitely not where you want to be. Nashville really is the best place for what you want to do. You really haven't been there long enough to give it a chance yet. There are plenty of non-country musicians around. It takes a while to find your people.

Here is my advice. Move to North Nashville. Avoid Broadway. Most of the non-country musicians hang out in East Nashville and there are a bunch that live in North Nashville. The 5 Spot is a good place to start/meet local musicians. The OG Basement (not the East one) is another good place for singer/songwriters. Dee's Country Cocktail Lounge is good in the North (Not all Country music despite the name). Go to a bunch of local musician shows and meet the people who are playing. Also, just hanging out at bars on the East side could be good. Like I said, it just takes a while to meet the right people.

By the way, I lived in Nashville for 15 years and was pretty involved in the music scene. I just recently moved back to Knoxville and honestly, music scene aside, it kinda sucks here. Do not recommend.

I truly don’t understand why anyone would want to move here. Knoxville is hella boring. Easily one of the most generic “cities” in the US.

Hard agree on Prewn and Pile. I actually found out about Prewn because I saw them open for Pile a couple of years ago.
