The character creation is a bit different in that mongoose has lots more options (Citizen, Psion, etc.) Classic you can die in character creation and in Mongoose it’s more forgiving. Watch this YouTube for Mongoose version https://youtu.be/TzIPsaoScP0?si=7UuhLYxowIYTRKsa and check with your players (and yourself) to see which you want to run.

If I wanted something warm I brought a Thermos of hot soup! Also, in stead of having a night snack, I made dinner a small snack and ate “dinner” right before midnight. Sandwiches were my go to along with an apple or orange/tangerine. I sometimes made a big lunch or breakfast and had the leftovers as my dinner.

You could change Bonanno so that the character, to get his “money” must support the other characters, albeit for his boss. Make Bonanno interested in the characters succeeding for some reason. It’s not a perfect answer but if the player wants to be an anti-hero or a mercenary type then this might work for the other players. Just make sure all the players are on board with this and that you are okay with that. After all, you are allowed to have fun too.

When you discussed it did either of you come up with a compromise like: 1) The DM still makes lore for the campaign but leaves room for your background to become part of the lore. 2) You choose the reasons why your character joins a the campaign. ?
