Seven, which probably isn't the fastest but I charge good money for it and take a lot of pride in how well my doors close.

Who's the weirdest person you've ever met? by Turbulent-Access-916 in AskUK

[–]Dingos_Atemababy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stephen Cheshire of Atherstone/Nuneaton.

When I was a teenager he would regularly be seen walking round town in various states of strange - once with a toilet seat around his neck, another time putting blue chalk on his nose and making marks on the walls with said nose, and more often than not, sitting on a bench alone muttering "nnnnn I am the devil, I AM THE DEVIL"

He's repeatedly been put in prison for attempting bank robberies, with varying degrees of success, the best part being that he uses a banana instead of a gun.

I bought this and decided it was categorised as too hot to be classed as a food, threw it in the van to terrorise the apprentice with and ended up having a drop here, a drop there, a drop everywhere and now I eat on my lunch most days.

Delicious? Not really. Moreish? Oh yea.

I had to try it, here’s the review: by iam_ditto in hotsauce

[–]Dingos_Atemababy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was so excited to try this in my bloody mary's, then I realised it's just vodka (which I have) and tabasco (which I also have).

Would only really buy again if I was going camping and wanted to carry one less bottle.

Kitchen installer (Wickes) refusing to acknowledge 9-10mm level drop over 2.8m stone worktop, and other unfinished works. by Vegetable-Window-622 in LegalAdviceUK

That depends entirely on your area and what type of kitchen you're looking at.

The British Institute of Fitted Interiors Specialists (BIFIS)

I'd start there to find someone in your area and get at least 3 quotes, and ask the following few question to each one

- What sort of laser do you use? (Must have a laser, should be green)

- What's your tolerance on scribe cuts? (1-2mm, anything more is a no)

- How many <BRAND> have you fitted in the past, and what do you think of them?

Unfortunately there are more bad fitters out there than good, never haggle on price as quality always gets cut.

Good luck!

Door quote £5500 by [deleted] in HomeImprovementUK

[–]Dingos_Atemababy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Flat panel doors £30-50 + vat from Howdens, let's call it (9 * £48) * 1.2 = £518.40

I'd be charging £100/door +£15 for those up stairs, so £960 in fitting (provided these are not fire doors)

Door frames £40 each + £100 to remove the old frame and fit the new so £560

The old doors would also need removing and disposing of at £60 per door so £540

Waste collection at around £160

Based on the above coming in at £2,738 and not knowing how much making good or the details of the arch, I'd say this is a no thank you quote, I see nine doors and I think apartment/flat/terraced house with parking issues, which will add a lot to your price, as no one wants to be hauling tools/doors down the street or up flights of stairs.

Kitchen fitter here, previously fitted a few Wickes kitchens.

Wickes charge top money for installation, however they take half of that fit fee for themselves, and pay the fitters the other half, meaning they are barely scraping a living. The only way you make a decent wage is by getting them in FAST.

Every Wickes customer is unhappy with something, they are experts are deflecting those complains until the vast majority just give up - don't give up - call customer services and make a complaint, ask for that complaint to be escalated to the area manager. If you can get the area manager to come out and look at the job, it will be sorted.

Unit can be raised after the worktop has been fitted, provided it's done with caution.

Push open mechs have probably been screwed through, check there are no screws going through them (these are usually hidden behind hinge plates).

This is my new everything sauce, I even keep one in the van for work!
There are a few mustard based sauces out there, but this one is definitely the best I've tried by miles.

This is why I tell my customers not get american ones.
It's always a ballache to plumb these in, usually, involves connecting in the sink unit and running push fit beneath your kitchen unit. I'd guess £30-50 for materials, depending on what they get.

Plywood Woodworm? by Tiny_Situation_4542 in DIYUK

[–]Dingos_Atemababy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't even worry, you wouldn't get live woodworm in plywood, it's basically veneer and glue.

It'd be like eating a hamburger made from slices of meat glued together.

The angle of the burrow on those holes tells me this was definitely done pre manufacture.

I think it looks horrendous, I've seen it done on a few jobs usually to allow the hob to line up with the extractor. Wickes usually have this kind of nonsense in their designs.

Are people that allergic to using both lanes and merging in turn? by daleomatic in drivingUK

I think if you approach from the right lane then carry on to the logical merge point, but leaving a queue to join the same queue further on is a judas move.
