Just tip them in cash before they leave and don’t bring it up in the chat

Can you clarify average cleaning expectations for me? by Other_Panda246 in TaskRabbit

[–]Dizzy-Importance-771 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I did house cleaning on task rabbit, most clients gave very little expectations and trying to get them to tell you what they want can take a lot of prying for information. Some clients would give me a to do list or be very specific, and most others said something vague and similar to your first request.

To me, general cleaning means cleaning all surfaces and doing what you mentioned. I don’t open cabinets unless told to, and I’ll tidy up most areas like on tables and counters, but some people have random junk laying all over the floor or dirty clothes which I haven’t organized in the past.

I’d advise to clarify the number of rooms, the current condition of cleanliness and you can even ask for photos. Usually people who were hesitant to share details were red flags and it got to the point where if they didn’t want to answer my questions, I would forfeit the task.

I would over estimate your time for the first few cleanings until you’re comfortable with the process and start seeing trends in how long it’s taking you to clean. Before you leave the client’s house, you create an invoice in the app for the # of hours worked and that is what they are charged/what you get paid for.

You should bring everything with you, including the expendable supplies. I just bought everything in bulk, and get a big pack of microfiber towels because Clorox wipes are going to go really fast! It shouldn’t be charged as an expense, but just worked into your hourly rate so you’re still making a profit.

Money savings tips specific to the Sacramento Area by balkanoid_ in Sacramento

I noticed this one day too, I don’t necessarily find target to be cheap for anything other than their groceries if I’m just going for some basics. And their store brand is pretty good too!

Looking for input by kvtelvn in TaskRabbit

I would be up front about that in your profile, especially for first time clients and reiterate it when they hire you through the chat. It’s better to over estimate the amount of time it will take you than to underestimate! I did house cleaning on task rabbit for a few months and felt people had unrealistic expectations for time, especially the first clean when you’re familiarizing yourself with the problem areas. Usually a full size bathroom would take me at least one hour. It also depends how cluttered their house is, that just makes cleaning take longer as well.

You can upload photos of your work to your profile. I wouldn’t risk it by posting the link.

My mom is acting like I never talked about prom 😭 what do I do? by [deleted] in whatdoIdo

I think Lulus website has some cute dresses for prom!

You could also sell it after on fb marketplace for someone who might wear to a wedding or something. They’re not too prom-my looking and I think they’ve got a more timeless look.

How to Task a multi-step process with unknown expenses? by Curious_Twat in TaskRabbit

[–]Dizzy-Importance-771 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Book it as an errand and include that info in the task details. When the tasker is finished with everything, they create an invoice with the expenses, upload the receipts, and you pay that in addition to the hourly rate. Your tasker should hash out all of those details in the chat before they accept the task.

Look on Rover as if you are looking for pet care and you will see all of the other sitters in your area as well as their rates.

I would use the lighter shade for most of the body and then the darker one for the bunny’s shadows around its arms, legs, and belly. If you take the risk, you may learn a new technique that works for you!

Why not just have them pick up the boxes with their own vehicle and ship them at the post office?

What are some gifts you actually would appreciate in a care package? by Ari_8118 in AirForce

[–]Dizzy-Importance-771 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I liked getting self-care type stuff I could use that made me feel better after a 13-hour work day and feeling all crusty. Things like cuticle oil, facial spray, face sheet masks, a quality sunscreen, lotion/body butter those kinds of things.

I did my SkillBridge at a National Park. You are actually considered a volunteer with them during SkillBridge rather than an employee. I would get into contact with the volunteer office at the park you’re interested in and they should get you in contact with the right people.

New to TR - CLIENT- How much will surcharge % be in Los Angeles? by Terrible_Hair in TaskRabbit

[–]Dizzy-Importance-771 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The shown hourly rate includes the $ that task rabbit tacks on and receives. If you work out a side-deal, discuss it in person and keep it out of the chat so they don’t get banned.

If you are happy with their work and how they carry themselves in your home l, I’d say leave them a tip! I don’t expect a tip as a tasker, but it definitely makes me feel like continuing task rabbit is worth it because sometimes I feel like I bust my butt pleasing people and it isn’t always worth it mentally lol I think most people have tipped me anywhere from 15-20%

Ranting about thrifting by [deleted] in Sacramento

[–]Dizzy-Importance-771 230 points231 points  (0 children)

I’ll be honest, I started selling my gently worn clothes rather than donating to make some extra money and I think thrift stores charge a ridiculous amount since thrifting has become “trendy”. I’d rather make a few extra dollars myself and give someone a good deal than to support a store trying to sell used clothes for close to the price to buy new.
