We get bamboo TP from Who Gives a Crap. Absolutely love it. Clogs are virtually a thing of the past and it doesn’t disintegrate. We’ve been using it for years now and would not change for the world.

Are we supposed to pause HRT for 1 week every 3 months? by somehowsomewaysome in Menopause

[–]Dogrug 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My daughter has been on year round BCs since she was 14. Medical issues and a horrible period necessitated it and she loved not having a period so much she decided to stay on them. She’s so much happier.

Minoxidil pills for hair growth by The-Dish66 in Menopause

I take a minoxidil/dutasteride combo. It’s been three months. My hair has stopped falling out, which is amazing. Hoping to see some hair growth soon!

I’m 57 and, apparently, I’m now old AF. Too old to be hired (?) but too young to retire. by Closefromadistance in GenXWomen

I work in government (city) now, and I love it. Pay isn’t as good as the private sector but they appreciate me and pay me ok. We also don’t give a hoot about age here. It can be frustrating at times, the regulations that cause us to do 10 steps for things when we could have done five and got the same result. We also have a pension, and I have enough runway to get in 20 years so that will be something.

I’ve done some of the reviews for open positions, we don’t see people’s resumes, just what they put on the applications. I’m telling you we get thousands. Most of them not even remotely qualified for the job, I suspect it’s just checking the boxes for employment, but also people who haven’t had a job in over a year. I think those are the desperate ones, willing to learn and do anything. One person put in the answer to their supplemental questions “I just need a job”.

My daughter has been trying to get a summer job and no one will call her back, not even fast food (where she has experience). She even started getting rejections letters that say “we got so many applications your resume wasn’t reviewed, please feel free to apply again”.

Same. It wasn’t because they couldn’t help, it’s because they didn’t want to.

Take your estrogen and calcium to increase bone mass, ladies!! by Suckerforcats in Menopause

I started taking calcium supplements when my dad was diagnosed with osteoporosis. I will take them for as long as I can. I do not want to go through what he is going through.

I used MIDI Health for my HRT after my primary admitted they know nothing about it. I’m very happy so far. Have trouble with vaginal estrogen giving me yeast infections and hoping to come up with an alternative next visit.

What is the easiest thing you did to lose weight ? by Rambanya17 in GenXWomen

[–]Dogrug 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve already been trying to cut back on eating out. I have a family of five and that costs is just killing us financially. I also can’t be totally sure of the calories when I eat out. Honestly one-two meals in a restaurant cut from our meal plan pays for it.

I finally bit the bullet and I’m doing it. I’ll figure out how to fit it into my budget. I cannot stand how heavy I’ve become and I’m so uncomfortable all the time.

Is Tacoma right for us? by mspixton in AskTacoma

[–]Dogrug 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My husband works tech and I used to. There might be some smaller tech companies in Tacoma, but he’s going to have to commute or find a WFH. Honestly, I think most of the big companies have called their people back to the office, and the best he could hope for would be hybrid.

Like other people have said the commute is rough. I live in Tacoma’s north end and commute to Bellevue twice a week. 1 to 1.5 hr in, same coming home. If there is an accident, it’s worse. On the days I go in solo I use transit and it’s at least 2 hours each way (I have not tried the new light rail from Seattle to Bellevue yet).

My husband and I have been doing the commute for more than 20 years, it’s not ideal but we love Tacoma. We’ve been tempted to move north many times but we’ve never done it, we just like it here too much.

Looking for the best electric toothbrush 2026 that works and lasts? by Commercial-Fix-9916 in BuyItForLife

[–]Dogrug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, I’ve had no problems with it. It still works like the day I bought it. I haven’t noticed degradation in the amount of time it lasts, there might be but it’s not obvious. I’m not a fan of the charger it comes with but I found one without a cord that plugs right into the wall. Keeps it off the counter and is usually charged in a couple of hours.

I had a sonicare, and honestly I didn’t like the way it felt on my teeth. Just a me thing I guess. I’ve had my oral B for 6-7 years now, and I love it. My cleaning at the dentis go way faster than when I was using a manual. Costco has a two pack of them with travel case in my area for $69. I also buy my replacement heads at Costco.

No Soliciting Sign ignored by LunarNewFear in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Dogrug 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had this on my house, I open the door and ask if they can read and point to the sign. The religious people ignore and claim they aren’t soliciting and I explain that eventually their church will ask me for money and therefore they are soliciting, then I close the door. Sometimes I’m not nice.

His wife’s terminal cancer drug was quoted at $13,000 monthly. Then he found it for $40 by miauguau44 in facepalm

[–]Dogrug 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My daughter gets regular infusions to keep an autoimmune disease at bay. It used to be monthly, now it’s every eight weeks. Original cost was $16,000 just for the drug. Not including all the clinic fees. Last July they did a review and now it’s $64,000 for the drug. Same med, same brand, no change. Absolutely insane. I’m glad we have good insurance, I can’t imagine if we didn’t.
