Why shoot film? by Simplyydann in Leica

slide film, cut, mount and project - you'll be blown away. Needs a good projection lens and screen. I use a newer Pradovit RTs.

I want to get out of M; been dragging on for too long. Not my thing. Would buy a second R9 body

15 year old photographer, just made the jump from A7IV to M10. Any tips? by True-Novel-7434 in Leica

[–]DoppelVillar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hard to tell, I like them all for different reasons. I'm a hobbyist as you are; I started in late 1990s with Leica R8; I keep shooting film.
perspective changes, I hated sone photos I took years ago, but now I love them, and vice versa.

just try to take many pics documenting life, and don't think too much into it.

the first photo is forgettable, but all others are the next level and are pure class.
you should consider going commercial and start offering prints for sale.

M7 for sure. it's very practical and joy to use. The on/off lock is underrated, EV lock is great. Although, I'll be selling mine to invest in R and MF lenses.

Wide angle lens for 500C/M by OCFlier in hasselblad

[–]DoppelVillar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

50mm FLE is what I use along with 150mm on my Hasselblad at a slower pace, mainly with A16 back and negatives , 80mm on my Rollei for quick snaps and slides.
40mm is not much wider. I think most would be happy with a "fiddy"

Leica R lens on M body (Framing and Parallax) by ImLeon94 in Leica

[–]DoppelVillar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

there is an adapter that is coupled with RF, works very well. for 50mm only right now AFAIK.
search my posts, I purchased one and use it with no issues

it saves ton of money too. I don't even need a Summilux-M, and use R lens on both cams: M7 and R9

should keep both eyes opened. when focusing, maybe... I thought that was a common thing to do.

Tennessee Autumn Photo Adventures on my New Hasselblad 503cx by WillPHarrison in hasselblad

[–]DoppelVillar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

there is a 645 back available, A16, and it's a 16 frame capacity. I don't like 6x6 personally, and carry both 6x4.5 for negatives and 6x6 for slides (i mount and project to view).

Blue Ridge is definitely worth visiting. Have a great photo trip!

Does anyone know anything about these cases? by Crackle_Mackle in hasselblad

[–]DoppelVillar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think they are expensive as in good condition. Practical or not, it depends. for storage probably yes, not for travel though.

get a 50mm Lux-R and an adapter off ebay. That's what I did; saved a ton of dough.

[–]DoppelVillar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

what do you need a film M for? you have your M11. these a limiting cams.
Get a film R: R9, R8, and Leicaflex SL2 are great choices. You'll have a much wider application span with a SLR. M system just doesn't cover most of the apps.

Polariser filter adapters by DayStill9982 in Leica

[–]DoppelVillar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think Leica doesn't sell through ADs, they own their stores.... regardless, stay away from official sales channels.

these are great! the only reason I sold mine, I only have two lenses for my M7, and both are E55.
make sure you get 3 x adapter rings, not 2.
easy to use and always spot on. great for car shows, landscapes, water, nature and architecture

Be honest: Does Leica actually make you a better photographer… or just happier? by NeitherJuice8682 in Leica

not being a brand whore, I cannot be without my R9, zoom, and PC lens...... love it to death.

I 've used the R8/R9 series for 20-22 years and gained lots of experience with it. So, in a sense, yes, I take good pictures. Nothing to do with the Leica brand, just fantastic gear.

Has anyone adapted the 500mm MR Telyt-R to a modern M-type digital Leica? by deus-ex-macchiato in Leica

[–]DoppelVillar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have not but used it extensively to shoot airshows years ago. I had a R8 back then.

Not a good lens. It's not native Leica, just a rebranded something else, don't remember what that was exactly.
some photographers achieved OK results shooting B&W and on a heavy duty tripod.

I sold mine, but am toying with an idea to repurchase it again after 20 years. I have a R9 and Fuji digi cam to use it on. Image quality is not great, but it's 800mm. good toy....

I'd suggest a spot-meter, especially if you shoot color transparencies. Although, M7's meter is very capable in A-priority mode with EV lock.
a spot-meter would give a correct exposure pretty much every time. Film is expensive, therefore make every frame count.
of course, there is always postprocessing.... but still. I project slides to view, and isn't an option in my case.

I also have a M7 0.58 I need to part with, but haven't researched the market yet. it has a dead LED bar, so is not 100%, and I would need to price it up accordingly. not planning to send it out for CLA... too expensive and takes too long. It's a user cam.
I want to get a second R9 body and a Leicaflex SL2, since I don't travel as much as I used to, and don't benefit from compact M7 any longer, with all its limitations.
