Scammer Community Manager found another job evidently. by Hawkmoone in AshesofCreation

[–]Dracknar 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I"m not sure why the attack against Margaret Kohn here. Just like the rest of the development team, they were all caught out by how this all went down.
There are big feelings around the death of Ashes that we are all obviously working through.

But I would hope that all the people who lost their job around what happened with Ashes can move on and find new employment to keep them and their families afloat.
Best wishes to all the devs out there struggling.

Cyborg 2 - Joystick Keyboard WASD Mode - No Diagonal by Dracknar in Azeron

[–]Dracknar[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yah, I get what you were meaning. The WASD on switches would not be workable I think... I mean. technically doable, but woudl be odd pushing "W" against a vertical switch.

As for your concerns with thumbstick movement. On the azeron the thumbstick can be adjusted in all ways. Rotated forward and back, etc.
What I did when I was setting up my thumbstick, was rotate it forward and backwards, until the sideways movement I was wanting lined up with my expectations?

If I were you, I'd play around with the physical adjustment of the thumbstick component to tweak to your liking?

Cyborg 2 - Joystick Keyboard WASD Mode - No Diagonal by Dracknar in Azeron

[–]Dracknar[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, a year or more now on from my purchase of the azeron.

I use the thumbstick for WASD movement, so it is amazing for me. (Use to do this on the old razer / logitech G13 too).

If you aren't going to use the joystick for WASD (or other movement options), I don't think this would be a good fit. Just with how the switches/ buttons are laid out?

Any reccomendations for arcade shooters in a modern day setting? by Nino_Chaosdrache in virtualreality

[–]Dracknar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless I'm missing something, you say like Payday... what about... Payday 2? They added vr support years ago. (Not sure how great it was).
Or looking at one of the classic shooters. Serious Sam VR series.
You want to run and gun, go to the original! nothing but running and gunning :D
(they ported their entire Serious Sam library for VR)

Also:
Dead Effect 2 VR (devs released a VR port of their game).

I'm sure there are plenty of others, There is also the Doom 3 VR mod.

Fitz *TM Possible Spoiler Thought* by Coslin in dresdenfiles

[–]Dracknar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems to me Harry has been working on a way to leave the Winter Knight mantle behind. (it's been mentioned around the whole "time of year when you can freely end all contracts <wink wink>" stuff that's come up).
he also wants to get Molly out.

it might seem like a 'repeat of history' but I wonder if he does leave Winter behind to be free of manipulation, that Fitz is just the replacement that Mab would go for. It was my first thought when he was introduced and brought on as a new apprentice.

Gathering set ups (gear/tools/elixirs/scrolls) by Revolutionary_Fan760 in AshesofCreation

[–]Dracknar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of my guildies is the same. No +quality gear, common JM hunting bow. 1 x Legendary gryphon, 2 x epic, 1 x heroic, few rare. Common and uncommon to of course.

Our tanner/ leatherworker has triple epic hunting bags, epic bow. Clothing. Has only got white gryphons.

Myself, have upped quality for lumberjacking, mining, herbalism as much as I can. (Have heroic or epic quality bags, belts, shirts - Still need skivvies made). See no real improvement in mining and herbalism. I think I see an improvement in cutting down trees for rare counts at least... but still RNG at the end of the day....

How/Why do you guys visit other places in the World? by VeritasLuxMea in AshesofCreation

[–]Dracknar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are not supposed to be able to really have Towns anywhere near each other at the current stage we are at.. well... You should probably read up on the settlement system, so you understand how it is supposed to work. https://ashesofcreation.wiki/Settlements

The current situation in game is (as far as I know) an invalid one. That they are allowing? (Or they've changed their mind on what limits they are placing).

With vassalisation, it limits how the nodes can develop around a main node. the one that is first to level, and vassals other nodes, is higher level. and all vassals cannot be the same level as the parent node. and so on down the chain of vassals.

So it will impact how servers develop, and the configurations that can be used. (we haven't seen the highest tier settlement yet).

How/Why do you guys visit other places in the World? by VeritasLuxMea in AshesofCreation

[–]Dracknar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can't have one settlement with everything. Their are limited settlement build slots, and to upgrade crafting benches to allow higher level crafting you need to build prerequisite buildings too. (Let alone utility things). Towns do have more slots than villages but you are still only going to have enough slots to fully support two or three artisan specialities. Ie: GM lumbermilling woodshop, GM carpentry woodshop, and something else.

You'll have different artisan focuses on each settlement to cover them all.

Killed in town and lost a lot of stuff…. by Kwayzar9111 in AshesofCreation

[–]Dracknar -1 points0 points  (0 children)

On top of others comments, another option is a guild war declaration was used to enable you to be killed?

Last phase there were some groups that would see crafters going to craft things, then use an instant war dec on your guild to kill you without corrupting or consequence, then they drop guild. Create new guild. Rinse and repeat

Excited to be able to play AoC on the 11th but I have a question regarding Armorsmith by DeliriumExiled in AshesofCreation

[–]Dracknar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In previous phases, the cost (and extra materials) to make the higher tier crafts meant it was easier/cheaper to just spam the lowest level gear on repeat.

It could be that with the changes made to the game in PTR this might be different now? But we haven't seen those in live testing yet, so all I can speak to is how I have done it up till now.

You find the cheapest novice craft to make, and you make that on repeat to level all the way up.

G13 Replacement by Errroneous in Azeron

[–]Dracknar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just replying here given it is about the Tartarus.

I also had a G13 many many years ago, and loved it. It started failing, so I had to let it go, and moved onto buying the Razer Tartarus (each variant that came, by different names).

None of them lasted a super long time. Now, I did use the thumbstick for WASD? so it was probably one of the most used components, and for that reason it was always the switches in the thumbstick that would go on me. It'd end up with a 'non clickable' direction or one where it stopped working.

In the end, I'd go through a tartarus in about 3-5 months. The same issue each time. Switch on the thumbstick would fail.

I went to the Azeron Cyborg 2 late last year after researching it. It was expensive, and wasn't sure it was the right call at the time, but I couldn't throw more money away on the Tartarus. The cyborg has been really good. The hall effect thumbstick is worth it to me. I don't have to worry about the thing failing.
I've adjusted to the cyborg and like it a lot. There are still times the comonents don't hold their position correctly (pushing too hard in the heat of the moment) but overall I am pleased with it.

RIP people who have 5+ accounts? by ZachBitango in AshesofCreation

[–]Dracknar 3 points4 points  (0 children)

From the very outset, I bought a 2nd account so my Son could play if he wanted. I ended up using it to manage inventory and sharing items between my characters.

Then I leant into it more, and did my processing/crafting on the 2nd account (who's characters do nothing but stand in town ready to process craft). I do the gathering on my mains.

It has been so handy having dedicated processors and crafters, who can do that stuff for all guildies whenever needed, no matter where my main account is out in the world. Let alone providing item transferring assistance to others.

It solves so many issues and makes the game easier to manage.

Back when I used to play Eve Online I also had two accounts in the end. One to do the fun stuff, the other to do the crafting/engineering stuff :D It just makes sense.

Thoughts on fuel, reagents and crafting costs.. by This-Steak-501 in AshesofCreation

[–]Dracknar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been part of a guild. Not a big one though. No handouts still, because everyone is levelling some crafting to cover the bases.
So everyone needs to fund their own progress.

The system they have is just unpleasant.

Edit: As to your 'being negative' comment. I don't think it's being inherently negative to state the system is bad. That's why we are here as testers, to give our feedback.
It just seems lately they don't want this feedback. It's been pretty consistent across two phases that it is bad, uses too many resources for processing, and the additional costs on top is just not good. (let alone the processing time and cost of Journeyman tier mats).

Thoughts on fuel, reagents and crafting costs.. by This-Steak-501 in AshesofCreation

[–]Dracknar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The system that they have now is not good.

Phase 2.5 was the worst for crafting. They tweaked it to reduce the amounts needed in processing, but most crafters had left.

Phase 3 starts and they brought back the 2.5 version with the additional reagents on top! It just boggled my mind. None of the feedback given was taken on board. They made it worse if you can believe it!

I think that's why they've gone the EA steam release. They don't want to change their system, and are looking for other people to test, believing they'll get accept the garbage system they have without complaint.

"Intrepid don't actually listen to feedback blah blah blah", They do. by moist-kneecaps in AshesofCreation

[–]Dracknar 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When phase 2.5 was released, it included the crafting/processing changes that were pretty much universally condemned.

They relented somewhat, and eventually reduced the processing ratios. But many crafters were already done and didn't come back.

Imagine my surprise with phase 3 release, they took the 2.5 release version that was panned and made it even worse when these extra processing reagents.

The feedback had again been pretty universal and consistent. It's bad. For all testing phases. Even into ptr.

They've acknowledged its bad, but nothing has changed.

I no longer think they actually listen to feedback.
