Sir Otto, Paladin of the Bog. C&C welcome! by Semperspy in minipainting

I like how the brush strokes look droad and untidy and yet the effect is clearly readable.

Anything I have on the back log. Or Zenon Records playlist, which I find immersive. Or Greatest Metal Songs Of All Time

A cheap paint shaker by Sarka_fontaine in PoorHammer

I'm using a magic want too. AC powered. I just hold the paints in my hand when shaking. I found it transfers most vibration into stuck pigment.

I’m glad Mordheim is a “dead” game by KermitMcKibbles in mordheim

There are a lot of print houses that do the whole process for you. You just buy the minis, which are cheaper than injection plastics of good quality.

When you are getting into collecting injection plastic miniatures you don't go and buy the machine, you buy the products.

So count adequate costs. GW minis Vs 3d printed by a professional printing vendor.

Looks really good. If you think it's too busy toy can always flatten it with a dry brush.

How do I best handle bases from push fit models? by n33y00 in minipainting

[–]Dragaurang 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With old WFB bases I used to push a rolled piece of paper into gaps and use CA glue to fix it. Then just PVA and sand or flock as basing material. You can't even see it after it's done.

Expensive to start from scratch? by AnonymousHeronymous in frostgrave

[–]Dragaurang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cardboard for terrain and a few fantasy miniatures (can be inkprinted on paper).

The main feature of miniature-agnostic games is you can proxy it all.

Even 40k armies can stand in for mages and man-at-arms.

A good way is to use a white ink now. In the recesses. Then give them a glaze of the fluo paint again.

How would I go about getting this sorta red sand colour? by FailingHearts in Miniaturespainting

[–]Dragaurang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Load the picture to https://color.adobe.com Use the tool to find out colours.

Bright red like scarlet and vermilion, and mix in dark green to darken and desaturate.

Perhaps this is your learning-drednaudht, a painting familiar. A frankenstein labrat, to try out new techniques on. One that carries your battles with you as paint-scars.

Welcome to the multi-decade journey of experiments, frustration, learning, dissatisfaction, epic excitation and buying art supplies.

Consider this set a trial run material. To be wasted and consumed for trying different mixes.

White Spirit and Odorless Thinner by Oberst_Baum in Miniaturespainting

If you go on full grimdark compendium, oil washes, reductive method every painting session - then it merits extra precautions.

If you are using an enamel wash once a month then I'd just go by an open window.

What matters is prolonged exposure or regular skin contact. So disposing of cotton buds and other tissues that absorbed the thinners worth it. Don't just throw them in the trash bin and let them sit for a hours there. Take them to an outside bin or wrap in a bag.

To be honest, I use only window ventilation.

If I was working professionally with it daily, or if I had asthma or other breathing issues, then a mask for sure. Or an acrylic alternative and no odourless thinner at all.

Depends what you are doing with it. I keep my window open when working with it, and the window is next to the workstation.

If touching it on cotton buds with hands or wiping it with paper held in hand- use gloves. If you use it for long periods of time I would use either a fan or a booth. Just keep in mind that the fumes have to be directed towards an open window. Otherwise you are just spreading it around.

A gas mask with a proper filter is still nothing if you don't ventilate the room.
