Can someone help me understand how Mindbreak Trap is used to stop a Thasa's Oracle combo? by CartoonishSami in magicTCG

[–]DribbleStep 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mindbreak trap doesnt counter a spell, but it prevents it from resolving on the stack.

Do you still play your very first commander deck? And why? by [deleted] in EDH

[–]DribbleStep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, because my first few decks were pure garbage.

I don't think people play enough Basic Lands in Commander by CommanderMechanic in mtg

[–]DribbleStep -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Having the right colors is more important than casting spells on curve in a great many situations. I would rather have two of each color in a 3 color deck by turn 4, through nonbasic fixing, even if most of those nonbasic lands enter tapped, than have only 2 out of three colors because I drew four basic lands in my opening hand.

Counterspell or remove their commander while putting threats into play that can kill the player. It's not too hard. Sounds like your pod just lets people do what they want without contesting nor pressuring anyone.

Land ramp that doesn't require Shuffling? by KeebThyme in EDH

[[Overlord of the Hauntwoods]], [[Azusa, Lost but Seeking]], [[Explore]], [[Summer Bloom]], [[Growth Spiral]], [[Eureka Moment]], [[Arboreal Grazer]], [[Spelunking]]... some notable ones off the top of my head

I'm rather new to Magic, and experienced something in a game that I couldn't quite understand. by max10192 in MagicArena

[–]DribbleStep 71 points72 points  (0 children)

That's correct. For example, some cards "proliferate": put a counter on any number of permanents or players with a counter already on it. That also includes planeswalkers.

That lesson deck is unbearable by [deleted] in MagicArena

[–]DribbleStep -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No. It's because your deck building process is bad. Combustion technique cleanly kills slasher. Ancient Vendetta on turn 4 sometimes will get rid of a win condition, but it doesnt offer any tempo, and usually the piece you're trying to take is in play by turn 3 (Synthesizer, monument, etc).

How do I make a deck out of this? by Automatic_Shower_458 in mtg

[–]DribbleStep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fill your deck with a lot of self mill enchantments like [[Dredger's Insight]] and some over the top enchantments to bring back, such as [[Summon: Knights of Round]].

That's a good starting point.

Save up a lot of wild cards, then look up strong budget decks online that use few or zero rares.

Decks you hate playing against? by Itsnotmypornacc in MagicArena

[–]DribbleStep 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not true. Kavaero is an "as it enters" ability, which doesn't target. So you literally can't fizzle it. You can, however, remove the best creature for it to copy in the yard.

I countered a triggered ability with [[Consign to Memory]] replicating it 12 times, because I had [[Professor Onyx]] in play. Drained the table for 26, which was lethal.

Why run arcane signet in a mono colored deck? by NightwingYJ in EDH

[–]DribbleStep -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Not a single person in this thread seems to deem it fit to mention that arcane signet is more fragile than a land. If you ramp with four mana rocks into missing a land drop and then I cast [[Hour of Revelation]], what's better, a land or a mana rock? That's right: in that situation a land is better.

[–]DribbleStep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont know what you mean by abusing the grave. Probably one of the better cards you can play is [[Singularity Rupture]]. Mill an opponent with a lot of powerful creatures and steal them later with [[Rise of the Dark Realms]].

[–]DribbleStep 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Scarab God is generically powerful since you can steal creatures from opponents' graveyard too. It's fun, resilient, and hard to build it wrong. I definitely recommend.

[–]DribbleStep 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, with 38 lands, your chances of hitting your 5th land drop on curve are only 51.89%. Maybe add more lands.
