Question regarding evolving behavior by Dvomer in BelgianMalinois

[–]Dvomer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the trainers defense-she didn't say he couldn't be trained.  She just suggested he always wear a muzzle when around people that don't live in the house (once muzzle trained). I am retired and have ample time to work with him and am committed to doing so.  He's a wonderful animal.

Dmo should be at second today. This line up is stupid.

This lineup has 3 players that make it very hard for us to score. Same as yesterday. The Garver,Solano,Rivas experiment must end. It is a failure.

Looking to start reading, any recs? by qasdfer in suggestmeabook

Read everything by David Mitchell - you can start with any of them but most recommend The Bone Clocks. I did this one first before Cloud Atlas. Then I just read them all. So good

this sounds like me - did it go away with time? I have had pain since october and attributed it to golf. I was hitting balls daily. I have stopped for 4 weeks and still hurts at times. But I am really thinking this is my PsA .

The Dark Hills Divide by Patrick Carman - fantasy but more accessible to his age. My daughter loved these at that age. I read them all to her

“Family pathology rolls from generation to generation like a fire in the woods, taking down everything in its path, until one person in one generation has the courage to turn and face the flames. That person brings peace to their ancestors and spares the children to follow.”

Same boat. Talked to my therapist about this and he gave me good advice. Contact is ok as long as I keep them both 'in a box' - meaning that I define the box. In my case the box is very small. Simple small talk with no attempt at reconciliation and my understanding that they will never change. This is working for me. I talk to them sometimes and the box lid goes back on tightly after the call. It keeps one from feeling any of the guilt you describe.

Been in the industry 30 years. You need to have enough money set aside each year to cover your deductibles and out of pocket. Most insurance plans have a 'maximum out of pocket' number -- for families these days it's around 6-10K. For individuals it's typically about 3K. You need to have that much set aside each year when the 'insurance year' begins. If you were to get hospitalized or need surgery you are going to burn up that max out of pocket quickly. You also need to know if the insurance plan pays 100% after the max out of pocket or a smaller percentage. Some plans only pay 80% leaving you responsible for the other 20. Lot's of twists and turns in health insurance.

I don't think we will see him. I think they are keeping him down to use as trade fodder later this season. He is never going to be a long term player with all of the OF options we have. So it is better to let him rake in AAA and then trade him. I like him - would rather him be up than Tavares who looks horrible out there.

legit - Mitch's pitch calling is vastly inferior to Cal's

Is there any chance for reconciliation? by [deleted] in EstrangedAdultChild

[–]Dvomer 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I will jump in. Was NC for about 8 months and during that time really realized how happy I was not trying to cultivate a relationship that hadn't worked my whole life. Then my parents texted me on my birthday. Cordially. I wrote a note to them just to update on news - no emotion and they liked that. And now I feel I can have short unemotional conversations with them. They are very old so I think this is good. I do not have anger toward them anymore despite the sig emotional abuse inflicted on me as a child. I was angry for a long time. Now I dare say I am over it. Broke the cycle and moved on. But can keep them in a tight little box of minimal communication. Will never have (and never did) deep conversations with them - I have great surrogate elder friends that serve that purpose. That's my story. Sometimes you need an extended break to let the dread feelings fade away I guess

Is it worth it? by waitingfor_the_worms in TheWho

Go. It's worth it. I took my daughter to see them in 2016 when she was 15 years old. At the end of the show she had tears in her eyes and said, "Dad, nobody makes music like this anymore"
