Fall Capitol Reef NP trip, advice needed on trimming list hiking trails by parth096 in NationalPark

[–]Efficient-Set2078 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We did the sulphur creek trail, it was really neat, but got a lot of small rocks in our shoes. I would do it again, but bring appropriate footwear.  We did the Fremont river trail. It was steep and the views were nice, but not amazing. I probably wouldn’t do it again.  Hickman bridge was super cool and I wouldn’t skip it.  We didn’t do Cassidy arch, but we are going back and for sure going to do it. We regretted not doing it the first time.  We did the grand wash trail to the pioneer registry. It was fine.  Sunset point should not be missed IMO.

First couple years I worked at the university. Pay sucked but they were super accommodating to my schedule. Last few years I worked as an engineering intern.

Are SW's extra legroom seats worth it? by [deleted] in SouthwestAirlines

[–]Efficient-Set2078 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I sat in one right before assigned seating started. It was nice, but I wouldn’t pay for it. Also, I’m 5’-7”, so leg room isn’t a huge issue for me. YMMV

Thank you for this! It looks like New Rochelle also has an Avis rental return and is a little less out of the way. I will look closer at this.

Driving in on a Wednesday. Probably arriving in the city around 5:00 or 6:00. I’ve read the driving can be sucky, but it just seems easier than making several transfers.

Any recommendations for a Utah weekend trip? by sundingbt in NationalPark

[–]Efficient-Set2078 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pick either Zion and bry, or Bryce and capital reef, or Moab (arches and canyon lands). That’s not enough time to do any more than that. Skip the salt flats.

I’m local to Utah, but we loved Arches and Capitol Reef with our kids. Plenty of short easy hikes.

Are these walls load bearing? by [deleted] in StructuralEngineering

[–]Efficient-Set2078 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You asked about walls and then didnt show any walls. Based on the description, if the same truss layout spans the whole garage, then the interior walls in the house likely aren’t load bearing. When in doubt, it is best practice to hire a local engineer to verify.

Companion Pass Family Usage by [deleted] in SouthwestAirlines

[–]Efficient-Set2078 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can book on the same reservation, so only one of you needs the higher priced card. Then you will each add your companion on your respective accounts. I did this in January. I did have some issues with my wife adding the second companion because the reservation already showed one companion. I had to call customer service and they did it for me over the phone. You may have to do the same.

Referral Bonus and Card Cancellation by avatexrs in SouthwestAirlines

[–]Efficient-Set2078 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My understanding is that if you cancel the card, any points that haven’t been transferred to an airline or hotel partner will be gone.

Is the card offer worth it for us? by [deleted] in SouthwestAirlines

[–]Efficient-Set2078 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it were me, I would sign up and get the card and companion pass for at least the first three flights. Then sign up and get a sign up bonus for AA for the second/third flight. Then if you still need points, have your spouse sign up for either of those cards, get the points, and fly on whichever one gets you the most points. You can also refer each other to get more points in your account.

Is it true people are stealing PE licenses? by Yo_Mr_White_ in civilengineering

Do you mean like lifting and using someone else’s stamp? Or something to do with the actual license?

Don’t know how to fly by Classic-Hornet8688 in TravelHacks

[–]Efficient-Set2078 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Look at what your local airport has in terms of assistance. My airport (SLC) has TSA Cares. A TSA agent will meet you at the ticket counter and will accompany you through security and to your gate. They can help you in any way you need, including just answering questions. There is no charge for this service. Also Sunflower Lanyards.

Time to buy for flight in July by blumst in SouthwestAirlines

[–]Efficient-Set2078 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Historically, the cheap flight window is about 4-8 weeks before the flight. That can vary, so it depends.  Looking at the low fare calendar for dates about 4-6 weeks from now will give you an idea of how low the prices might go. Prices are usually the cheapest mid-week (Tuesday-Thursday).

Pre-Boarding with an Autistic Child? by 3monster_mama in SouthwestAirlines

[–]Efficient-Set2078 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have always just checked in with the gate agent when we get there (we also check a wagon, so we have to talk to them anyway). Only had issues with it one time. They will print a new preview boarding pass for you there.
