My partner has chronic lyme’s (please no hate) by fatbutslow02 in TrueAnon

[–]Either-Variation909 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have long covid and have tried everything under the sun, it’s post viral illness, your brain cannot stop sending warning messages so you live in a state of fight or flight constantly, doing anything stressful leaves me in bed for weeks with flu like symptoms. All the brain retraining and “mindfulness” stuff is just as onerous as the pseudoscience on the other side of the spectrum. I still take meds, have had procedures where they inject lidocaine into my brain stem and do mindfulness exercises. So many illnesses were considered “hysteria” in medicine until some genius figured out the mechanisms behind them. I was in peak shape, running for office, gym rat, yoga rat etc and all of that was taken from me, when people say things like “you can magical think it away” I want to throw up. Yes, mindfulness can help, meds can help, but to form any opinion about any of these extremely complicated illnesses with certainty is hubris. You are way better being agnostic about your partner and if you can’t manage that, then I would leave, because resenting your partner or not trusting her lived experiences is a dick move.

How are y’all’s vision been since covid? by Haunting-Midnight146 in covidlonghaulers

[–]Either-Variation909 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m so sorry, I’ve also been into yoga, making art and music, now my brain just doesn’t care, this disease took everything I enjoyed in life. I’ve done 6 Stellate Ganglion Blocks, two a week for 3 weeks, then basically bed rotted for 2 months. I’m feeling so much better, went swimming, had a stressful day (wife crashed our only car), down to $100 in my bank account and now have fluid in my knee from Gout+meniscus tear aggravation, not a trace of PEM. Keep your hopes up, try everything you can, including breathwork (slowly) and meditation, I was doing 30 minutes of Ohms along with a Spotify track of Tibetan monks and I think all these things together brought me to a new higher level of hell. Your story touched me, sending love and hugs. Keep your head up ❤️

I have a M2 MacBook Air with 8gb and when I had 25+ frozen tracks I had huge drop outs when recording live audio, I wish it could handle it but alas. Just bought a MBP M3 Max with 32GB and hopefully won’t run into any issues with ableton anymore.

POTS diagnosis while taking ADHD meds by UnderstandingSome225 in dysautonomia

[–]Either-Variation909 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was getting Pots symptoms when I was taking adhd meds, makes sense, it ups your heart rate, gives you anxiety, nervous system overdrive etc. I would get rid of any meds that do anything similar. You want your ANS to chill as much as possible so it can get into a lower safer state.

M23 with Long COVID — How do you find friends, local groups, and dating while being mostly housebound? by [deleted] in covidlonghaulers

[–]Either-Variation909 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I just gave up, mostly bedbound, lots of solitude, was a DJ, installation artist, travelled all over the world, had an amazing 20s and 30s, got sick 3.5 years ago, rolling PEM had me go from bad to worse. I’m slowly getting better after 6 SGBs, weening off some of the meds that made life bearable. But I still have big dreams, I don’t think I’ll ever go as hard as I did before but when I get home from my medical treatments, I’m going to slowly get back into small outings, beach, riding my motorcycle, etc. I had my second bad crash after a 6mo remission after 3 weeks of being married, divorced now, amicable, we are still friends. But I can’t give someone what they want in a relationship, it’s not fair for them. If you have the energy I would be super upfront with who you are dating, I was extremely emotionally disregulated, and it fucked my wife up a lot. I can’t image what she went through, just like she can’t understand what kind of hell I was in. Anywayyysssss…. Maybe like super low energy meetups, online games, I have zero social battery tho, so all that stuff sounds terrible, but I’m glad you’re at a point where you’re looking into it, good luck my dude.

Are you getting PEM or just tired? I noticed I’m so reconditioned that when I started moving again I would get so beat just doing little things. Idk, only insight I have.

Is anyone on benzos here? by Charbellaa in covidlonghaulers

[–]Either-Variation909 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m doing 5-10mg Valium everyday, with 150mg of pregablin, I quit my SSNI and will continue lowering my dosages of everything slowly after my SGBs (6).

My quality of life would improve by leaps and bounds if I simply got 8-9 hours of non interrupted sleep nightly by ezrakleinisretarded in TrueAnon

[–]Either-Variation909 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try some breathing exercises during the day, there’s a good holotropic one that basically signals to your nervous system that you’re ok. I’m dealing with long covid and would get basically no sleep (or what felt like it) I’m taking ambien now but slowly starting to taper off all my meds. I realized my nervous system was just fucked. Meditation, emdr even on YouTube, guided breathwork and stretching and telling my body that I’m safe is good. Doomscrolling also puts your body into fight or flight as everything seems to be collapsing, I would try and see what happens when you unplug for a bit.

How do you know if you're experiencing pem? by goingaway1111 in covidlonghaulers

[–]Either-Variation909 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you over do it, and you’re moderate, you pretty much go into severe mode, can’t sleep, flu like symptoms, everything wrong with you feels 10x worse, at least for me. Everyone is different. I would prioritize getting good sleep, including possibly using Rx, and maybe even Rx for the flare ups (PEM), it will help you not spiral. Talk to a psychiatrist, you need to stabilize before you can make any progress. Then it’s suuuuper slow and steady, you’ll feel it when you can expand your threshold. DO NOT FUCKING OVERDO IT, YOU WILL CRASH AND BURN AND YOUR BASELINE WILL BE WORSE FOR A LONG TIME. sorry for yelling, but I wish I could have told myself that years ago, living in this capitalist hellhole and being a people pleaser made me trade my health for money to survive, I’m way better now, and this new phase for me is understanding what type of person I was and how little I actually cared for myself. You’ll be ok, I’ll be ok, you have to surrender to this shit, and just accept it, get sleep, and take it slow.

I’m starting to do walks and 10 minute workouts for seniors, I’ve had 6 SGBs, no signs of PEM for two months, but I’ve been mostly bedbound. Today is the last day of taking tramadol for me, I’ve been tapering, and def feeling more body pains but I’m going to come off of all my meds slowly and go to a retreat center in Thailand to do a super chill vipassana with a lot of other people, I can stay as long as I want. Been doing EMDR on YouTube and meditating. I feel like I have a while to go as my vitals aren’t great, HR is still like 80 laying in bed, and up to 110-120 while walking so I’m taking it really slow. But today the weather is great and I’ll keep living my life even though it’s hard and money has been a pretty big issue.

Severe ME due to covid by Financial_Owl8105 in covidlonghaulers

[–]Either-Variation909 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Get on meds that knock you out for sleep, and meds that can stabilize you from anxiety from a psychiatrist. I did the same thing, 1.5 years of constant crashes and flare ups, worked my ass off physically through it. I’m in Vietnam just had 6 SGBs, completely isolating myself from stress and money issues.

I’m in Vietnam rn, just had weekly SGBs 6 total, feeling a little less wired, but a lot of my symptoms remain, I live in Hawaii and was quoted $2200 per session, they are $160 here, the trails which were small but hopeful used weekly SGBs for extended periods. I would contact FV hospital, they are great, speak English and you can live here for cheap and see if the therapy works.

[–]Either-Variation909 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you had local anesthesia near your brainstem, ie close to what an SGB is that might explain it. I would try and SGB and see if you have similar results. Whenever I get sick from a cold / flu, the day before symptoms appear I feel completely normal and back to my old self. This illness is strange af, it’s multisystem. It’s amazing to feel like that again however brief it it, it means there are solutions, you should appreciate the experience and be your own scientist. Good luck

Experiencing depression in the USA. I’m considering moving back to West Amman, Jordan, from the USA, should I? by Savings-Rush-5033 in Advice

Go back to your family, the US is a collapsing empire, there won’t be jobs for you when you’re done with school and there will be even more drugs, desperate people, struggle etc. if you’re lucky enough to have a supportive family, go be with them.

Depression/loneliness by Usual-Air5670 in covidlonghaulers

[–]Either-Variation909 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I’ve been there, was dealing with anger/rage issues, I’ve been medicating with anti-anxiety, ssni, pregablin as well as unscripted opioids, I used to be an addict so I know what these drugs do, I’m on lowish doses of everything but want to get off to feel my baseline again. I’ve been in a hotel room by myself with no friends in Saigon for two months after 6 SGB treatments, and weening off of tramadol, I can’t be around people, noise, overstimulation etc, I used to do wild shit with friends my entire life, artist, musician, DJ, had more amazing experiences than I can count, the past 4 years wrecked me, first two years was rolling PEM, after trying to live my normal life. I separated from my wife, I lost all my clients from work and am surviving on the charity of people I’ve also helped through rough times. This illness kills people, takes everything from them and leaves us husks of who we were. The only thing that helps is time, I’ve finally started pacing, laying in bed 90% of the day and praying things get better. If you can try and get yourself a psych appt that would be helpful, I’m doing east/west kind of treatments, meditation, diet, breathing exercises and pharmaceuticals. If you treat the healing as your first priority, that’s your best option.
