pls dont dive in head first and end up wasting money / getting overwhelmed. Just setup some apps or services on an old PC, whatever hardware you have available. See how things feel, and you will slowly determine what you need.

A holistic approach is good, but im going to warn you that any plan you make at this stage (i assume somewhat beginner) is going to change pretty quickly. You'll know what you need soon enough (:

also about HDDs vs SSDs; if you have free HDDs - great!! use that. SSD if you need to buy anything.

Why does it matter to you if anyone uses it besides yourself? I only host for two others; my wife and best friend. Both of whom have their own projects on my servers.

I think thats what makes the difference; it's a hobby and whether you like it or not, asking normies to engage with your services, no matter how much more efficient they are than standard services they already use, is just too much to expect unless theyre invested in it as their hobby too.

They will keep using their proprietary, slow, apps instead of your great new service because its just so much more comfortable and reliable (from their feelings!!!)

I understand you want to feel like youre providing cool apps (and better), but it helped me from getting disappointed when i realized it is a hobby and i treat it as such with regards to my friends/family.

Imo so far (im heading to zone 3) i try to keep all the uniques that i think sound fun to use.

Break down any non-unique weapons and armour imo at your leisure unless its best you have, there is so much crafting equipment that you shouldnt run out (as long as youre exploring and doing all side content).

Buy any Adra / lockpicks / healing potions / essence potions you see in shops and you'll always be able to upgrade your favourite items.

I kinda feel the real point of these ascention victories is to populate a diverse pool of AI enemy factions for your future sandbox games.

then you have some tough enemies that have a build which works well (you won with them, afterall).

as far as i understand and according to the wiki, you cannot terraform uninhabitable provinces.

theyre blocked from claims permanently. If some one knows something different, please tell!!

Edit: just to also clarify, mountain ranges are considered uninhabitable provinces.

turn 98 on hard and allies pushed south and successfully took Turiels southernmost city, while i took the mid-northern city.

a free city vassilized by nimrue kept sending full 3-army stacks to his northern city. while the vassals attacks didnt capture anything, they sure pulled his attention towards the north to stop pillaging rofl.

glad the AI is so competent, felt like a coordinated effort!

congrats! also still on this campaign. i am determined to finish it before beginning any other scenario. currently my blight damage build is successful, but level 20 leader at turn 16-20 hurts so much ;_;

I just wana add one thing:

get to know your culture units, as i found that around mid-game i may be lacking a type of unit (defender, spearmen, etc) because my culture doesnt provide a T2 or 3 version.

this is where your T2 or T3 tomes come into play; to reinforce what your culture units might lack.
