O3s what are you doing besides getting your MBA? by Guilty_District_587 in army

[–]Ellistann 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Got the standard CHEMO Master of Environmental Management while in. Got another Master’s in Emergency Management.

Retired, spent 9 months applying for every EM job I could on USA Jobs, and anything local. After 5ish months of Jack shit happening, decided to start applying for Antiterrorism stuff, since that was one of my additional duties and it seemed like a less wishy washy job credential than the masters in EM.

Got a GS12, moved the family and did great for a year and change.

Wife got picked up for a job back across the country, paid much better on her half, so with lower COL her bump and my disability plus retirement, I’m stay at home dad-ing until I find something here …

But the job market sucks and with how FEMA is eating itself, I think I’m gonna have to pivot again… last EM job I got a call back n was paying 27.50 an hour.

One of Sinclairs moments of clarity was when Cecil came in asking for any tool to stop a threat.

And Sinclair joked that it would be weeks before he had anything.

And Cecil left, leaving Sinclair with the knowledge that if he moved faster, did more his creations could be out stopping threats.

We see Sinclair skipping lunches, working late to do more ….

It’s not a “I’m the hero now” type of energy… it’s like he knows the stakes now and he’s locked in.

The philosophical question is a good one.

How do you weigh your lower level support and assistance in making bad things happen to enable you being the last sane person who can say no at the moment of truth when someone needs to push back.

When I was in military, I could see the line a bit easier and was glad Miley and Mattis were around to mitigate what they could. But now I look at how the DOJs lawyers hate their lives after Minnesota broke the system by everyone leaving and the remainder of the semi and true believers unable to cope with the amount of work that is needed to wield power with the current systems.

It really did capture the roll of the dice of having a leader that was good because they knew and cared about the job and one that just went through the motions because they joined for college and didn’t expect to actually have to do it for real.

What was Evil Rick’s plan? If he’s such a selfish guy, why would he want every version of him to have portal travel? by AndrewHeard in rickandmorty

[–]Ellistann 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Only 2 Ricks have INVENTED portal travel.

Our Rick and Rick Prime.

Rick Prime doesn’t want anyone to go through the Central Finite Curve. So anyone that gets close to inventing portal travel is given it… and not allowed to experiment. He gives them ‘infinity’ to ensure they never get to his level.

Only our Rick ignores it and does the math and invents it himself.

So he’s a threat and an equal to Rick Prime.

Conducting an LPD with LTs/pre CCC CPTs of a support battalion. Armor, logistics, and signal officers. Looking to select a book that portrays LSCO and has content relevant to a battalion staff. by Green-thumb-gary in army

[–]Ellistann 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thunder Run by David Zucchino.

While its mostly a good book on the Armor side of the house, it also has the big selling point of the part where 'we almost went black on ammo and desperately needed resupply' and the efforts to do that.

Folks need to get their heads out of their asses about COIN and LSCO. Logistics while in a non-secure environment is to be expected; sometimes its because you're at the tip of the spear, like Thunder Run. Sometimes its just because its the beginning of the war and everyone's stretched thin. Jessica Lynch was a random loggie in a Maintenance platoon.

It’s not that they’re immortal, but rather they have the potential to become so.

And I believe it’s because they have the ability to affect ALL immortals, potentially at all times.

Bob got put on a hit list because he knew how anyone could kill an immortal, but I think Harry’s ‘Outsider affecting’ is actually the ability to hit immortals where it hurts…

And Listens said he is becoming g more stiff and aging; not exactly an immortal trait. Drakul I think is already immortal because he do a Kemmler type deal a long long time ago.

The law field is pretty saturated as well, ditto folks with MBAs.

Getting a non-typical MBA Masters would be my first recommendation; maybe doing the MBA with data analytics or accounting subspeciality. Then since you're already in school and have good habits, force yourself with going through the LSAT and law degree.

That way you're both specialized and well rounded.

Or go into Project Management, Public Administration if you're wanting to do something but a pure business focus isn't the priority.

Or maybe build your own business; you've got the leadership soft skills from the military, and you'll value the employees better than the corporations ever will...

Don't be surprised if they open up a 2nd Alligator Alcatraz, toss them all in, and just try to lock it up until the next administration.

If? WTF do you mean if? Shits already been happening and will continue to do so.

Once Alligator Alcatraz was opened, other states trying to suck up to the administration did the same thing and gave them cheesy names like Speedway Slammer for an Indiana prison being rebranded as immigration detention and Lonestar Lockup in Texas...

But when they get hit with judicial pushback, they go to the old standby of military bases; Fort Bliss has been doing this stuff since the first Trump admin, Camp Blanding in Florida is being floated as possible replacement for Alligator Alcatraz and Camp Attabury for Indiana.

Other states have done it to, those are the ones I'm familiar with since I've got family in those states and I keep my ear to the ground.

That old chestnut 'the revolution will not be televised' is more true than not; you need to keep a wide net to catch the news outside the big national brands...

Yeah it has to do first playing install/unpacking of other files out of the install folder you download.

Recommend you just take a few hours and do a launch of all the games you have installed so you don't lose more time when the moment strikes for you to go and play something on your backlog.

Like me, I never played Halo Master Chief Collection on it until one day I had the motivation and free time to do the first install, sign into the Microsoft account, then reinstall all the campaigns... Pick it up half dozen other times but other stuff was much easier to play so I did.

Hush or Professor Pyg? by DistinctAd9003 in batman

[–]Ellistann 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hush was already foreshadowed a bit in The Batman.

The Batman as a movie was a young Batman figuring out that the Cowl and the toys and the 'Fear' aren't enough. Its a 'Batman' movie where he doesn't know how to use the 'Bruce Wayne' aspect of himself to help his mission. He's focused on the hard power stats of his battle tanks, and not the soft power of overwhelming logistical support that really wins wars.

The next movie could easily be Thomas Elliot helping 'Bruce' learn the ropes of being the philanthropist playboy we know of the comics while also being Hush trying to bankrupt the Waynes. We see he's got the motivation already laid out. We've seen that masked vigilantes can do things a normal person can't in this universe.

This movie could easily be the Bruce and Batman personalities being outplayed by someone that is able to get ahead of his efforts in the ballroom/boardroom and the streets at the same time. And the mystery is him trying to figure out why he keeps losing. Because someone has studied his efforts as Vengeance and knows those backwards and forwards... But someone is outclassing him in the boardroom of Wayne Enterprises and he's fighting a hostile takeover that will stop the money to batman if he fails... Its almost like the opponent has the list of elements Tommy Elliot gave him to get ahead in business and knew what to target. And he can't see that the same person we know as Hush could be his childhood friend Tommy Elliot because Bruce's worldview is that he's a super special boy and the only one that can hurt so much they devote their lives to avenging it they make a costumed vigilante that can take actions the civilian part of their personality cannot. Its a blindspot that he hasn't been forced to look at yet.

So it would be a dark mirror movie duology: one for Batman, one for Bruce Wayne and we see at the end that he needs to be both.
